Training Camp can't get here soon enough

Yeah, but I hate wishing my summer away. And I’d somehow like to have the days where the Eagles are reigning champions to last forever.

Yea no, Saquon's snow run was easily the best. There are several Saquon runs that are better than the Dagger IMO. Without the Snow Run, we lose to the Rams. Without the Dagger, we still murder the Chiefs

But have we gotten worse, or have we simply gotten unknown?

If we compare where we are now to where we were on June 19, 2024, are we really worse? Both ILB positions were serious question marks. There were not insignificant questions about Williams at DT and Smith at OLB. Both Q and DeJean were rookies.

Sure we have questions now, but no more questions than last year.

I’d say we’ve gotten worse. Our pass rush is worse and whilst I wouldn’t have signed Sweat at the deal he got I still think we got worse there. We also lost BG who played an important role in rotation and as a leader. We lost our starting RB who played at a high level. We lost our CB #1.5 (I’ll put Q alongside Slay last year) and then lost a good back up in Rodgers who came in and made plays.

Sure we’ve drafted and we’ve signed guys to 1 year deals and so that’s a bit unknown. Are we worse than this time last year? I agree that’s an unknown for sure… But we are worse than we were when the season ended I don’t think there’s much doubt about that.

One thing we may want to keep in mind is biological. The prefrontal cortex—the part of the brain responsible for impulse control, long-term planning, and moral reasoning—doesn’t fully develop until a person’s mid-20s. Young people are more likely to act recklessly, respond to peer pressure, and fail to anticipate consequences. As people mature, they become more stable, more reflective, and more risk-averse.

Then let's move the drinking age back, the voting age back and the driving age back.

That' would be based on the assumption that not a single player still here improves from last season to this season. With so many young, rising stars that's a poor assumption. The Eagles' defense had 41 sacks in the regular season in 2024. I'll be shocked if we don't easily surpass that total this season without Williams, Sweat, and BG. Our first five draft picks were on defense.

Didn't realize how overhyped that play is

It truly is amazing that 10 of our 11 likely starters on defense will be on rookie contracts (I know Reed technically isn't because he was an UDFA, but he is paid like he is). 9 of 11 if Jackson beats out Ringo. Howie's drafting on the defensive side has been unreal for about 4 years now. Young guys I expect to be better: Carter, Davis, Ojomo, Smith, Hunt, Q and Coop. Ojomo in particular I think will seamlessly replace Williams -- his pass rush win rate was basically the same, and I think the real bonus is playing next to Carter. Davis seems to have discovered a pass rush (and a Peloton), and Hunt got demonstrably better last year.

Call me crazy, but I think this defense could be just as good as last year. No one was too excited about Milt and Sweat until they dominated the Super Bowl. Slay needed to go, and CJGJ did give up a lot of plays (also made a lot of plays to be fair). I'm also interested to see how they do in year 2 of Vic's system.

Is there an ongoing issue with mukuba and his contract? I just saw something on Facebook that said he wanted the whole deal guaranteed

The Browns and Texans gave the first two picks of the 2nd round fully guaranteed contracts for the first time ever. So now it's holding up everyone because no other 2nd round picks for any teams have signed yet because they want the same deal. So it's basically a log jam for everyone until someone gives in.

No. Great catch but not a great throw

What’s up, guys? I’ve been quiet on here lately.

The truth is, I’ve been going through a rough stretch with my mental health. I wasn’t sure whether to say anything, but with June being Men’s Mental Health Month, it felt like the right moment to speak up.

Mental health can feel like something we’re supposed to keep to ourselves, especially as men. But the numbers tell a different story. Around 1 in 10 men deal with depression or anxiety each year, yet far fewer reach out for help. Even more alarming: men account for nearly 75% of suicide deaths, despite being less likely to talk about what they’re going through.

That silence is heavy. I’ve carried it myself. But what I’ve learned—slowly and honestly, the hard way—is that opening up matters. Getting support matters. You don’t have to wait until you hit rock bottom to ask for help. You don’t have to go through it alone.

So if any of this resonates with you—if you’re struggling in your own way—I just want to say: you’re not alone, and it’s okay to reach out. To a friend, a therapist, a hotline—whatever feels doable. Just don’t keep it all inside.

Please take care of yourselves, and check in on the people around you. You never know who might be carrying more than they’re showing.

Then let's move the drinking age back, the voting age back and the driving age back.

Insurers, until laws about use of age prohibited, kept rates higher until a person reached 24 and rental car companies wouldn’t rent to people younger than 24. But those acts are discriminatory because they link all people of an age together. Actuaries would argue that data supported their decisions but it was too broad. (Credit scores were also viewed as predictive). In general, they are right. Age, primarily driven by level of experience, is generally a factor but not individually. Therein lies the problem. The individual metabolizes alcohol differently. MADD, a prohibition group in reality, has driven the BAC to .08 which for many isn’t impactfully impaired. Eating, playing with the radio, even drinking (non alcoholic) and Bluetooth phone calls have been shown in studies to be more impaired than .08. Texting is worse than drunk driving. Not excusing DUI, rather stating that alcohol impacts people differently. So raising the drinking age may unfairly impact some adults and not impact some adults that alcohol affects.

(AI has been in use for almost two decades now by insurers. Where they used to rely on claim coding on causation, so the option was fail to yield right of way or texting, now the AI combs the words and the data is getting significant so the choice isn’t either/or now but all. Some states are requiring data on texting, for example.) Insurers would prefer all drivers never drink and drive. Heck, they would probably oppose drive throughs and billboards if they could and would disable cell phones while driving. And as you know from your physics background, speed tends to increase the risk and seriousness of injury, death and damage. That’s why one of the first things the black boxes did (yes, your car records pre crash data) was record speed. That’s also why the ITSB grading of crash worthiness is so valuable to auto manufacturers.

Silly boy, don’t you see that pass was overthrown as much as the dagger was underthrown? Anything short of perfectly placed is an area of improvement that Hurts must address or so I have read herein.

I would not be surprised at all to find out that the rings have lab manufactured diamonds to avoid blood diamonds and the hold up is the manufacturing of such.

Fair, but as an overall play, I think it is much more impressive than the Dagger.

Dagger is wildly overrated IMO. I understand the significance behind it which makes it a bigger deal than it really is, but the play itself is something you see in a lot of NFL games week to week.

So this past week has seen the signing of UFL players to NFL rosters. Howie seems to bow out of the UFL signings. Bit surprised he didn’t grab an ILB as only five may dress at the beginning of TC. (Thinking PS/developmental prospect as I think Trot2, Baun, Small and Campbell make the roster with Dean on PUP and possibly Gant and Dixon make the PS). Also surprised we haven’t seen any competition with a youth focus at LS. I watched zero UFL this year. Any candidates Howie should be interested in?

I’m sorry but a dog is property (no disrespect @just relax as we had this discussion long ago with Vick, love my cat and would greatly miss him, but under the law, he is property) so Ruggs caused a human death and property damage due to recklessness. He stood up and was a man by accepting responsibility in his plea and serving a sentence handed down by the court. No criminal intent in his crime, just poor judgment.

You didnt ask if Sanders should receive the same legal consequences as Ruggs

You said treatment.

Treatment includes court of public opinion

In the court of public opinion Ruggs murdered a dog as well as a person

While in a legal sense one can argue intent, while he didn't intend to kill anyone he did intend to recklessly drive while intoxicated which resulted in the death of another human and that humans pet.

Absolutely it's a better play IMO

There was throw to Brown that I've been trying to find. Pretty sure it was against Commies. I remember it being a perfect bucket on the left side of the field. Though I don't know when it happened
