Well I know what I'm talking about, I searched back and saw someone specifically said, him coming back here was ridiculous.

I live for this type of pettiness. I’m all for it.

The same thing that happened in 2023: they fire him and find a new one.

Player safety. Spectator safety.

There may not have been any so far, but we should be proactive and prevent the inevitable ones.

Wonder how much they low balled Sirianni that the details still aren't known yet. Doesn't seem like his agent is eager to trot that information out to the reporters.

So, are you saying you want a OC who doesn’t call plays or are you saying you don’t want an OC at all?

Me. I said I would be floored. Just picked myself up.

If Douglas had horrible talent evaluations while he was here, I'd doubt we'd have brought him back.

Im glad Douglas is here as a scout rather than any GM or GM type role. Even "Senior Scout" makes me nervous. But at least its not some deal where he is expected to teach Howie his system of scouting and help set draft boards.

Douglas sucks and I can not wait until he is fired or hired away again.

Companies spend large amounts of money and time in identifying and cultivating leaders in their organizations. Leadership is a rarer quality that being a good salesperson, trader, analyst, or offensive coordinator. NFL history is littered with strong coordinators that flamed out when given the opportunity to be a head coach. The job is more than game planning and play calling. It's about getting a team of men to pursue a single goal, to understand and follow the path, and to support each other along the way. Nick is outstanding at that. Look at the videos the team puts out each week during the season. You hear Nick at meetings talk about toughness and work and details and connection. Then watch the post game conversations with the players - they use the exact same words. His messaging is still resonating with the players. They like his energy and aggressiveness. I'm glad he'll be around for a while longer.

He has done a good job coaching a highly talented team. He has had 2 of the most talented rosters this team has ever fielded. Still, it's not easy to win it all. It's not easy to get a team to the Super Bowl. He has done it twice.

Why would you think that's a possibility?

Do you still blame him for Barnett?

I blame him for everything bad in the draft for the years he was here. All of it.

I want the HC to call the plays

12 minutes ago, NCiggles said:

Because it's hours after the news broke and no details of the deal are out. Usually those details are front and center as part of the announcement or come out very soon after. And these are details given by the agent because that of course reflects on then as well and the job they have done as an agent. It's a low ball deal that Sirianni agreed to then it makes sense why the agent hasn't given out those contract details yet.

Well 2019 was terrible.

Just now, Mike030270 said:

If I understand you correctly you’re saying that if the HC calls the plays we’ll have greater continuity and we won’t lose the play caller to another team. Is that right?

I don't think Joe Douglas had much to do with those bad drafts. Howie makes the final call. Also I think they'll hire someone else they lost two key guys. Also don't think their drafts with the Jets were that bad. The Jets have terrible ownership. They got Gardner, Wilson, Fashanu, Hall, etc. They just never had a QB and their ownership forced them to trade for Rodgers.

2 hours ago, NCiggles said:

Wow i am shocked by that. But at least it's to a scouting position, not VP of player personnel like before. Maybe more to his strengths, I hope.

Was it one person? If so is it statistically significant?

That is one of the positive aspects for that scenario

Douglas was hired after the draft in 2016, so he really only impacted 3 draft classes (2017-2019). 2017 and 2019 were terrible, and 2018 was a homerun.

Well 2019 was terrible.

2019 was a bad draft year.

Well they brought Joe Douglas back, maybe they can bring in 8 new offensive assistants and consultants like with Doug. 😂

It’s documented that Woody’s teenage sons recommended rejecting a trade based on the player’s Madden rating.
