The 2019 and 2020 drafts were a mess. The team lost their way. It was reported that Howie hadn't really figured out the balance between scouts, coaches, and analytics. Wentz was still the focus.

They've been locked in since then.

Also, we all know that the refs won't call anyone for pushing a runner downfield; they never really called it when it was a penalty on the books previously. This is just window dressing to hide the reality that they are punishing one team for being better at something than everyone else.

The refs themselves actually suggested to reverse that rule because it was too confusing to try and call, and it wasn't being called much anyway. Stupid.

If it's banned, the Eagles need to just have the O line and Hurts do a typical QB sneak with Godert, Smitty and Brown standing back there doing nothing and holding their hands straight in the air mocking the NFL.

The Reagor pick and the national criticism - even with graphics posted on screen during games - changed him.

A vote on whether to allow NFL players to participate in flag football at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics is expected to pass at Tuesday's league meeting in Minneapolis, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

I guess there's no dream team for the US unless retired players can play. I bet Vick is still pretty fast. I wonder if there will be a limit on CFL players per team. Mailata should play WR for the Australian team.

The reason the NFL had to vote to allow flag football is because theyll be allowing NFL players. the article lays out some rules about it such as insurance for the players participating, no more than 1 NFL player per team on the same flag team. etc.

I mean Hurts is the only player left on the roster between the 2 drafts.

The current rule proposal only reseeds at the Division Round. The Wild Card round would be the same.

The proposal is the second playoff-related initiative introduced this year. In advance of the league meeting in March, the Detroit Lions proposed reformatting the playoffs by basing home-field advantage strictly on record. However, there was hesitance among owners to strip division champions of their first-round home-field advantage, prompting the modification to reseed after the wild-card round. Under the new proposal, teams would be reseeded based strictly on record for the divisional round, regardless of whether a team won its division or made the playoffs as a wild card.

I still don't like it. It still strips something from the division winner. And Detroit is proposing this, because they didn't like the possibility of being an away team after having a much better record.

I don't know how this works letting NFL players participate in the Olympics when it's during training camp. They just asked AJ in his press conference if he would do it and he said no because it's during camp.

Dude's locked in. Never had any doubts he'd let winning get to his head. I don't think this group will.

Hurts looking swole. He's gonna do all the pushing himself!

This is why I said either leave it what it is now or just change it to be base seeding off records completely throughout the playoffs. Reading the rule in how it’s proposed feels like the NFL is trying to appease both sides. The side that doesn’t want change and side does by compromising by doing this. And to be honest, this is the worst plan that just keeping it what it is or just having seeds from the start of the playoffs done by record.

Why let the division winner in at all then? Why should the 10-7 team be held out of the playoffs, while the 8-9 team gets in because they won their division? The 10-7 team would be rated higher than the 8-9 team if they were both in the playoffs, so why have the 8-9 team hold off the 10-7 from making it, just because they are in a different division?

It's all stupid. Just leave it be. Why the constant need to change things?!

No I think you are reading it wrong. The National team can have ALL NFL players. But it cant have more than one from each NFL team. So it can have 1 eagle, 1 ram, 1 49er, etc.

It can not have Hurts and AJ Brown though. I think this rule is in place so more than 1 player gets targets in the olympics.

Good. I love when the players are focused on what matters rather than potentially sacrificing careers and championships for individual accolades. cough. Embiid. cough.

I might feel differently if we had a tradition of dominant USA football in the olympics. But this is going to be new, and its flag football.

I dont like that the olympics has added 3 on 3 basketball, and now flag football. These are kids games. Not something the elite of the elite athletes are meant to be competing in.

The onsides kick rules I don't understand at all. Why dictate to the teams when they're allowed to do it, and remove the surprise by making it required to inform? What if a team wants to do it while they have a lead, for a competitive advantage? The league is pushing too many rule changes.

They should focus on the refs being more consistent, the officiating across the league has been horrible in recent years.

& 200%!!!

The problem they themselves created is the new kickoffs have to be lined up a certain way it completely takes away the surprise of the onside kick. Announcing it ahead of time ultimately doesn’t matter because to line up for it you already are announcing it even if you didn’t have to. There’s really no way to fix that besides going back to old kickoffs which might not ever happen.

Now, the dictating of only allowing to try while trailing makes no sense. It made even less sense when it was 4th Quarter only. My only guess is either they think it takes too long for pace of play so they want to limit it. Or they know an onsides kick is such an objective failure, they want to sweep it under the rug as much as they can.

Yes... just put it back to the old kickoffs!

I can understand the side. Some teams get a great record just because they beat up on a weak schedule

Ahead of tomorrow's tush push banning

Sirianni doesn't want to talk about any of the details of his contract. Interesting.

I see that someone already posted something about this, but I've been planning all morning to write about it so I'm going to do so.

One of my favorite activities this time of the year is to watch the "behind the scenes" draft videos that a bunch of teams put out. The Eagles are one of the teams that does this and theirs is usually one of the best. The best I've ever seen is the one the Lions put out from the '23 draft. That one was exceptionally good. The Rams put out a good one last year but haven't done theirs yet this year. Same for the Chargers. The Lions didn't do one last year and didn't do it this year. The Jags put one out the other day that was pretty lousy. Anyway...

The Ravens put theirs out a couple days ago and I watched it last night. It was one of the better productions. The point that I want to make is that late in the third round when their pick was up, Howie called them and asked to swap 96 for 91. The Ravens said no and picked an offensive tackle. When the Eagles turn came up at 96, they traded out with the Falcons, dropping to 101. And when THAT pick came up, they swapped with Denver and dropped down to pick 111, early in the fourth round. That's where the picked Ty Robinson.

Now, if the Eagles truly wanted Robinson all along (which is vaguely kind of what they've claimed), it is illogical to think that they were willing to give up assets to move up to get him and then traded out when he was right there for the taking. So clearly the Eagles had someone else in mind when they called the Ravens.

The Ravens picked offensive tackle Emery Jones. It's possible (but in my mind not likely) that he was the guy the Eagles wanted. The next pick was quarterback Jalen Milroe. Given that the Eagles took a quarterback later, it's possible (but again not likely) that they would have taken him. The next three picks were DB Jonas Sanker, quarterback Dillon Gabriel, and center Jared Wilson. At that point the Eagles were on the clock and traded out.

My guess is that it was Wilson who they wanted. They were definitely in the market for a center, as evidenced by the fact that they picked one in the fifth round. And remember, someone pointed out recently how Jeff Stoutland was in the draft room late in the third round. Generally the position coaches aren't in the room during the draft but are brought in when a player from that position is going to be the pick. So it sure as heck seems like the Eagles were expecting to pick an offensive lineman at that point.

And then after the Falcons picked and the Eagles were waiting out five more picks, the Raiders took offensive linemen back-to-back. And the Eagles traded again. My guess is that the Eagles got sniped again.

So while I do think that the Eagles "wanted Robinson all along", I suspect that desire began at the start of the fourth round, after a night (and morning) of reflection. He hadn't been their target when their pick was on the horizon late in the third round.

I don't mean this as a complaint, by the way. I'm just trying to judge what happened. I find this stuff so fascinating.

Douglas came over from the ravens where they have never had a good WR, ever. He doenst know WRs, among other things. Like football in general.

This is fascinating stuff. The Eagles, who clearly do know about drafting and running a football team, are so stupid in bringing back a man who's a known quantity to them because that man doesn't know football.

Right.

I'm not sure you understood my point. In the current construction of the league and playoffs, divisions are huge. HOWEVER, the proposal to seed according to record only and disregard division winners is a massive restructure that makes divisions almost meaningless... and Sack's suggestion that they wouldn't even be guaranteed a playoff spot would just destroy it entirely.

The NFL wants to destroy itself, it seems.

You are correct. I did not understand your point. You were talking about the current proposal and idiot me took it to be about the current structure. My bad.
