So while I do think that the Eagles "wanted Robinson all along", I suspect that desire began at the start of the fourth round, after a night (and morning) of reflection. He hadn't been their target when their pick was on the horizon late in the third round.

I don't mean this as a complaint, by the way. I'm just trying to judge what happened. I find this stuff so fascinating.

Both can be true. They might have wanted Robinson all along AND they wanted a specific player (more than likely an OL given your assumption regarding Stoutland) that was rated higher. When that player was gone, they decided they could safely move back and still land Robinson, while also grabbing some extra draft capital. The second trade back could still have been about the extra draft capital, and not about getting sniped by the Raiders.

The guy they were looking to move up for might have been a guy that they had a much higher grade on than where they were picking... but when he was still sitting there at 91, decided to try to make the jump for him. Then when that fell through, they moved on to Plan B, which might have been Robinson... but when they got their trade offers to move back, decided that the extra picks were worth the risk of losing Robinson, but they still managed to land him.

Personally, I'm very excited about the OL we drafted late. I love guys with positional NFL legacy bloodlines. Kendall and Hinton have great bloodlines!

You are correct. I did not understand your point. You were talking about the current proposal and idiot me took it to be about the current structure. My bad.

I wouldn't call you an idiot. It happens to all of us from time to time. It might have helped if I stated it more clearly.

The POS comish wants it gone.

It’s going to be comical when they run the same exact play, convert almost the same % just without Hurts getting pushed.

People don’t realize how much leverage and push our offensive line gets on that play.

They’re going to soon enough.

Why let the division winner in at all then? Why should the 10-7 team be held out of the playoffs, while the 8-9 team gets in because they won their division? The 10-7 team would be rated higher than the 8-9 team if they were both in the playoffs, so why have the 8-9 team hold off the 10-7 from making it, just because they are in a different division?

It's all stupid. Just leave it be. Why the constant need to change things?!

There should be an obligatory Greek Chorus at the meetings saying "what about this" and "what about that" until every what about is measured against the current rule. If you can't make it through the gauntlet of issues then the rule doesn't get changed. Hell, use little figures in a computer simulation if they have to. "You are the NFL for crying out loud, this is the best you can do?"*

I’ve said my point in the past, I have a less of a problem with them completely changing the seeding by record and the four division winners get the automatic playoff berth. Frankly i think we are on path for an 8th playoff team in the next 10 years. I figured they were eventually in the next 20-25 years moving towards that anyway.

However, this third option should just be thrown out and voted down. Either go all in on seeding based off record or keep it the same. Don’t create a third option thats even more ridiculous to appease both sides of the fence

I fight against this all the time in my job. The higher ups rarely consider the "Unintended consequences" for their decisions. Sometimes those issues are minor and not worth major consideration, but some others have significant reach and create larger issues.

All of them should be removed. Leave the playoff process as it is.

No I think you are reading it wrong. The National team can have ALL NFL players. But it cant have more than one from each NFL team. So it can have 1 eagle, 1 ram, 1 49er, etc.

It can not have Hurts and AJ Brown though. I think this rule is in place so more than 1 player gets targets in the olympics.

I think you're right. It's a weird rule.

They were never going to leave it alone cause (reportedly) goodell wanted the reseeding just like he wants the tush push banned. I’d really be surprised at this point if we don’t get an 8th playoff team and 18th game by 2035

FIRE HIM.

They should leave the playoff seeding alone. It's not that often that it's a big problem, and hasn't it been shown that the top teams get to the championship game anyway?

Could it be because top teams are playing at home in the playoffs?

This is fascinating stuff. The Eagles, who clearly do know about drafting and running a football team, are so stupid in bringing back a man who's a known quantity to them because that man doesn't know football.

Right.

A little hyperbole. Still..I have 0 respect for Joe Douglas as a "football guy" the way he was brought on the 1st time in that role, and his performance.

When the best thing you can say about a hire is, well...we should trust the Eagles because they know him....that isn't encouraging.

Sure, I'll trust them. They've earned that. Doesn't mean we have to like the hire. There is a reason he got those big titles he had, and now is here in a lesser role. He stunk and he is rehabbing his career in a great FO. Which wasn't great when he was here the 1st time. I hope he is hired away very quickly after Howie knocks another draft out of the park.

He works for the owners, so there's gotta be one or a few of them who are very against it. Maybe Jerruh.

Eagles players not taking bait, downplaying the push vote.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/45241347/eagles-mailata-brown-downplay-tush-play-eve-nfl-vote

"I don't have any thoughts on it," said wide receiver A.J. Brown. "It's only 1 yard."

Left tackle Jordan Mailata struck a similar tone, saying: "They're ruling [on] the push? I guess we'll just do it with no push.

"In terms of them banning the tush push, I hate that name, so I hope they do ban it -- it's a stupid name," Mailata joked.

"But I can't control it, we can't control it, so we don't even worry about it. Right now, we're just installing our schemes, whatever [offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo] is installing that day, that's what we're focused on because worrying about if they're going to ban the tush push or not ain't going to win us a championship."

How are the Phillies in 1st place? It sure doesn't feel like they are in 1st place.

Well the Rams got moved due to the wildfires and dealing with all that, and still won anyway. The Vikings were frauds. The Lions had the #1 seed, a bye...then lost to the #6 seed. In the AFC, the top 4 seeds were the final 4 teams. Wild card teams have won in the past, the Giants won a SB as a wild card team. You just have to win the games on your schedule and not whine about it.

Flag football in the Olympics? Really? That just seems disrespectful

I can't wait to not watch Olympic Flag Football.

I wish they would. Frankly there’s things they’ve done that made it harder for people to watch and the stupid kickoff rule. But he’s making owners a ton of money and they seemingly are mostly in for of what he’s doing.

Idk. With NFL players on the team it's going to be ugly for other countries. It's going to look like the 92 dream team in basketball destroying all the competition.

Should let college players that maybe didn't make the NFL play in the Olympics instead.

I can’t really speak to the job Douglas did with the Jets. That’s a looney bin. When teenagers run the draft based on Madden ratings and the owner decides he wants Rodgers and Rodgers gets to pick the players he wants, well, what can I say? It’s the Jets. What I can say is that Howie knows his work and capabilities. I don’t have sufficient sense of Douglas as a person to say that I like him or not so I won’t go there. Howie did hire Matt Patricia and I certainly don’t like him. Howie is not infallible but he’s not stupid.
