Sorry I quoted you by accident and didn't know how to undo it. I knew how to do it on the old board but haven't on this one.

I don't think many NFL players will actually do it with TC right around the same time. Im actually surprised the owners allowed them to play.

Not surprising to me.

I see that someone already posted something about this, but I've been planning all morning to write about it so I'm going to do so.

One of my favorite activities this time of the year is to watch the "behind the scenes" draft videos that a bunch of teams put out. The Eagles are one of the teams that does this and theirs is usually one of the best. The best I've ever seen is the one the Lions put out from the '23 draft. That one was exceptionally good. The Rams put out a good one last year but haven't done theirs yet this year. Same for the Chargers. The Lions didn't do one last year and didn't do it this year. The Jags put one out the other day that was pretty lousy. Anyway...

The Ravens put theirs out a couple days ago and I watched it last night. It was one of the better productions. The point that I want to make is that late in the third round when their pick was up, Howie called them and asked to swap 96 for 91. The Ravens said no and picked an offensive tackle. When the Eagles turn came up at 96, they traded out with the Falcons, dropping to 101. And when THAT pick came up, they swapped with Denver and dropped down to pick 111, early in the fourth round. That's where the picked Ty Robinson.

Now, if the Eagles truly wanted Robinson all along (which is vaguely kind of what they've claimed), it is illogical to think that they were willing to give up assets to move up to get him and then traded out when he was right there for the taking. So clearly the Eagles had someone else in mind when they called the Ravens.

The Ravens picked offensive tackle Emery Jones. It's possible (but in my mind not likely) that he was the guy the Eagles wanted. The next pick was quarterback Jalen Milroe. Given that the Eagles took a quarterback later, it's possible (but again not likely) that they would have taken him. The next three picks were DB Jonas Sanker, quarterback Dillon Gabriel, and center Jared Wilson. At that point the Eagles were on the clock and traded out.

My guess is that it was Wilson who they wanted. They were definitely in the market for a center, as evidenced by the fact that they picked one in the fifth round. And remember, someone pointed out recently how Jeff Stoutland was in the draft room late in the third round. Generally the position coaches aren't in the room during the draft but are brought in when a player from that position is going to be the pick. So it sure as heck seems like the Eagles were expecting to pick an offensive lineman at that point.

And then after the Falcons picked and the Eagles were waiting out five more picks, the Raiders took offensive linemen back-to-back. And the Eagles traded again. My guess is that the Eagles got sniped again.

So while I do think that the Eagles "wanted Robinson all along", I suspect that desire began at the start of the fourth round, after a night (and morning) of reflection. He hadn't been their target when their pick was on the horizon late in the third round.

I don't mean this as a complaint, by the way. I'm just trying to judge what happened. I find this stuff so fascinating.

Great pick-up.

To me its likely Jones or Wilson and I'd be split 50-50 on that (though you can never rule out a QB with the Eagles).

If we find out if they tried to trade for 92,93,94,95 - you have your answer that it was probably WIlson but if they stopped after the Ravens pick, Jones was likely they guy they targetted.

At this point I just want them to ban it. The players don’t seem to care, but they are competitive enough to use it at least as some motivation fuel to show teams "we don’t need it to win”…

They have joined the Vikings as sore losers against us. We beat them in the regular season, then dominated them in the playoffs.

I think the Eagles have a strong chance to repeat. The league wants to ban the brotherly shove, GMs didn't want to deal with Howie, they're all jealous of the success. It's going to get worse if they continue to win. Bring it on!

Imagine rooting for a team which is so openly campaigining to ban a play because they cant stop it.

Really shows faith in their players and opens the door for such a loser's mentality to spread through the organisation.

I would love to see us jam it down teams' throats on 3rd and 4th and short anyway after they ban it. Even without the push.

The team don't need it to win games, but it is a powerful mental thing. We dare you to stop it and so far not many teams were able to stop it. Maybe someone will figure out ways to defense it. Sadly one of the ways is to ban it.

Problem is they added other crap that impacts other situations. Offense can't push a RB but defenses can pile on and throw them back. Will that cause injuries as 4 guys are slamming into someone fighting for the first?

Imagine that same mental domination & power if it’s banned, and they are still converting with a regular QB sneak. A big FU.

Man I want Ghost back on the Flyers.

With this o-line and especially Hurts, I don’t see any reason a QB sneak would be dramatically different. It would probably drop a few percentage points at most.

If the Panthers repeat as Stanley Cup champions, Bob is going to the Hall of Fame.

Unless Bob tires out in the next two weeks, I don’t see anyone beating Florida.

Saw the report on sportscenter saying the tush push is likely going to be banned on votes. The reseeding is likely to fail but apparently many think it’s inevitable that when they go 18 game schedule that reseeding the playoffs is going to happen.

Interesting analysis. Wilson makes a lot of sense as a player they cold have wanted. Once he was gone my sense is that while they wanted Robinson, they also wanted the extra picks to take exactly the kind of upside plays that they ended up executing with the McCord, Hinton, and Williams picks. APR may have been on their radar as well but I’m less convinced he was.

It’s going to be comical when they run the same exact play, convert almost the same % just without Hurts getting pushed.

People don’t realize how much leverage and push our offensive line gets on that play.

They’re going to soon enough.

And Green Bay is gonna lose a game because they violate a rule they fought so hard to change.

When the Eagles do that. The next thing will be refs blowing the whistle quick to stop forward progress.

All kidding aside, I wonder of the risks to player safety playing in temps over 100*F isn't a greater than the 'tush push'. IOW the risk in either case isn't that great.

There is so much data out there about how unsafe it is for elite sportsmen to play in those temperatures. Its not good for the body and cause a lot of downstream issues. Players shouldn't be gettings IVs on the sideline to avoid cramping or be at risk in a contact of sport of they black out. Other sports mandate water breaks when temps reach a certain limit to help players rehydrate, cool down and reduce risk. Why expose a 100m player to a season ending torn calf muscle because of the temperatures? Its illogical.

Let alone NFL players in those pads make the overheating issue worse, and the physical size of some players only increases the risk further. To ban a play, with no supporting data because some teams are mental midgets is wrong. If the wusses in the NFL HO want to make the game safer, then 1pm games in Tampa (etc) in September and early October should be banned where there is no dome. They should also force teams with Field Turf to go to grass if the ligament tears reach a certain threshold.

That is focusing on player safety and welfare.

When I saw it was -3 yards on 12 carries, I initially gave him the benefit of the doubt. One big loss (like a fumbled handoff he recovered) that wiped out all the gains. But I had to look it up:

Nope, 3 games where he had negative yardage.

TBF, if Andy DID draft him after going 8 rushes for 28 yards the year before, it's his own damn fault.

NFL owners thought Kelce retired because of the play. He's there to tell them it had nothing to do with it.
