Partially because of our age, we all tend to overrate and romanticize the Buddy Ryan teams. The first season I really watched was 1988, and I loved Cunningham. But there's just no objective way to believe that he was better (as an Eagle) than either McNabb or Hurts. Randall had all the talent in the world, but he came up small and never really learned the game. To be fair, he also played behind an abhorrent line. But Cunningham with the Eagles is comparable to Vick in Atlanta, without the crimes. There's a reason no one signed him and he retired after 1995. The guy who came back to the Vikings was humbled and also played in the perfect offense for his skills in 1998.

I agree with ya. I'm just saying I "like" Cunningham more than I did McNabb (and Hurts). That said, it's a biased "like" because I didn't really look at or understand the game the way I do now.

If I was the age I am now while Cunningham was playing, I probably wouldn't "like" him as I do. Many of us have the tendency to relish in the nostalgic view of a certain era and "forget" the bad times that happened while in it. It's like reliving your high school years (if you had a good time in HS, that is) and remembering all the good things while downplaying any negatives.

That's an interesting play -- basically tell him he'll be inactive for every game, and if he wants a chance to play elsewhere, take a settlement on the 2025 comp. I doubt he does it, and it might hurt our reputation if it leaks, but I don't think Vic will play him.

I don't think it hurts our reputation at all. If anything it bolsters it. He's clearly persona non-grata here. So, he can either sit the bench and get paid handsomely... OR, if he wants to play, he can give back the money and sell his wares again on the market. It's not like the team would be reneging on their deal... just offering him a different opportunity to play, because they can't afford to just cut him this year. The cap hit would be way too steep.

When was our last really bad, really significant offseason or preseason injury? Haason hurt his hand in 2023 but still played. I can’t immediately think of a huge one

Yup. It seemed like every year after 1988 there was controversy around Cunningham, or at least news stories and nonsense. Do you remember the Randall bar?

Or the hats?

"Let me be me?"

"I'll be back... scrambling"

But... the man could flat out electrify a game.

I do NOT remember the Randall Bar, 🤣

But I remember the other stuff. Didn't really care about that back then either. Like you said, he could electrify a game and that's mainly what I remember!

And of course, the season that never was....Bryce Paup...opening day....sad

Unfair low rating going 20/21.

I was thinking the whole "we'll deactivate you for every game."

Maybe just style it as we are committed to playing other guys to soften it.

ESP is jealous he's not covering the Browns beat right now.

OTA stats are a special level of stupid

Wonder when the Browns trade Pickett to the Saints.

My parents wouldn't buy one for me... and then when I had my own money, they were gone! lol

100%. It's about the packaging of the message.

Timmy Jernigan?

Actually the answer probably is Brandon Brooks when he tore his Achilles in 2020

Didn't Peters tear his ACL a 2nd time in the spring because of a scooter issue? I guess that didn't matter much since he was already out for the year.
