The article’s assessment of Mahomes’ contract illuminates what I believe should be the next step Jeff and Howie are thinking about with Jalen … building the stream of off field money for Jalen. KC has done it with Mahomes and they will be reaping huge Salary Cap benefits as a result … $20 million to $30 million a year. New England did the same with Brady.

If they change the void years thing, that’s 100% another Eagles rule change

Half of that is tied up in Hurts, Brown, and Smith. The next $100M is from Mailata, Dickerson, and Jurgens.

We'll see how Howie unwinds from all this while layering in Carter, Smith, Q, and Coop.

Has there been any insight into Reed's absence from OTAs?

Is he waiting for an extension?

Cap people what will the cap impact be of Bryce Huff after we trade him for a player that some other team is about to cut 3 weeks into training camp?

Interesting that McLane suggest Huffs absence all offseason was mutually agreed upon between him and the Eagles. He hasn’t been to any workouts at all.

In the same McLane article there was a small blurb that a source said Reed "was dealing with a minor medical issue but should be fine.”

He's luring women to him with cotton candy? Damn it, I had to buy expensive wine to get results like that.

I don't know but my guess is that cotton candy had some extra ingredients.

I don't care that she slept her way to the top. My issue is her allegedly saying she was going to say her boss raped her after she was done getting what she wanted from him. No idea how she's still employed in sports anything

I don't understand the hate towards Joy Taylor. She didn't sleep her way to the top. She is related to a professional athlete and used those connections to get jobs. She had an affair with an executive who was fired but as far as I understand it the allegations about her threatening a sexual assault claim were only made by the person who sued Fox for letting her get harassed. She was likely complicit in the harassment but no more than Skip Bayliss and probably most everyone else still employed at Forx.

NE flat out circumvented the salary cap with Brady... aka, they cheated. And the NFL looked the other way. Highly doubtful the Eagles could do that.

I don’t disagree, but doesn’t the info on Mahomes’ contract indicate that KC is following the same path?

Should the Eagles be looking toward making Hurts a similar exception? If "yes,” in what ways?

Sirianni listening to Dungy suggest stacking 2 receivers on top of each other for a jump ball

Siri also hearing about that joke about dwarf tossing, thinking about Mailata just throwing Hurts over the line into the end zone.

My hate towards her is she allegedly was going to tell the company that her boss forced himself on her after she was done with him

He's the exception to giving a QB that kind of contract

In order for the NFL to go after void years they will need to get the agreement of the NFLPA, and if anything they want more money in void years, as the tweet below indicates.

The players speak about Howie’s approach to Cap management.

That smells like the prelude to a post June 1 trade.

The answer to that question is, "It depends.” As @LeanMeanGM has clearly pointed out, Howie will be trying to get the trading team to pick up as much of Huff’s Option Bonus as possible. Any success he has in doing that (perhaps by including a Draft pick as well as Huff in the deal) will reduce the $28 million Dead Cap amount shown below.

A 10 year contract. Mahomes is the exception

Maybe she said that but it wasn't a claim that she ever actually made. It's like you're mad about something that she never did. The allegation came up from the woman that sued Fox about the executive that groped her. It's that same executive that had a relationship with Taylor. Taylor may have been manipulated into a relationship with the executive on a quid pro quo basis. She may have purposely pursued the executive in order to get ahead. It may have been neither of those things. I am not sure why it should impact her employment more than other people that have done the same thing.

Now I follow … and agree.

With that said, is it only the term of the contract that is an exception? Or are there other aspects that are also exceptions?

Here’s a question for everyone’s thoughts …

What is our base defense? In the Super Bowl it was a 4-2-5 light box. Is there any reason to believe that isn’t Fangio’s preference for a base defense?

No. Brady took a discount on salary, and then the team paid him through TB12. Mahomes getting endorsements from State Farm, etc. is completely separate from the team's finances. It's apples and oranges.

Good point. Where did TB12 get the money to pay him?

Interesting situation that is flying under the radar. Thoughts?

The meaning of 'base' has changed. "Base" used to be the most frequent alignment for the defense... so the 4-3 base would also have 2 CBs and 2 S. ... and then they'd have "heavy" (extra DL or LB), "nickel" (1 extra CB), "heavy nickel" (with an extra S rather than CB) and "dime" (2 extra DB, sometimes 1 S and 1 CB, sometimes 2 CB) packages. The terms for "nickel", "dime", etc. continue on, but most often teams are lining up in a "nickel" (as you point out with Fangio), because offenses have made 11 personnel their 'base' offense, versus the old 12 or 21 personnel groups that have declined markedly in recent years. You almost never see a 21 personnel grouping now. So, "base" just means no nickel back on the field, and no extra DL or replacing a safety with a LB.

I think Fangio's preference is the 4-2-5 alignment, but he's got to be able to adjust to what the offense puts on the field.
