It came from an AMA Evan Mathis did on Reddit back in 2013. He was asked who had the biggest on the team and his response was Nick.

I remember one about a year ago where Kelce was on Chris Long’s podcast and Chris Long asked something that Kelce spun around into a phallic innuendo and said "Well, Foles…” and they both started laughing which basically confirms multiple sources

I don’t think you give Hendrickson a new deal. Sit down with him and his agent and come to an agreement that playing one year with the Eagles and then going into Free Agency with that superb year on the books is an even better financial deal than extending now. Eagles get a one year rental and a winning scenario in the 2026 offseason.

You’re not giving up what it will take to get Trey Hendrickson just to have him as a one year rental. And since the whole reason he wants out is to get a new contract, I’m not sure convincing him to play on the deal is a possibility.

I would not put Watt or Carter ahead of Garrett or Dexter Lawrence. I guess they just forgot that Trey Hendrickson exists as well.

Berman said if Huff is traded after June 1st, Eagles save money on the cap and very minimal dead cap.

Also, Hendrickson just had 18 sacks each of the last 2 years or something crazy good like that. So, convincing him that 1 year in Philly is going to be a great season to drive up his price as a free agent is no easy task. Its hard to convince someone of that when theyve already had individual success thats unlikely to be matched anywhere else.

Lol I just know that triggered you

So what I hear when I read your very clear comment above, is that "base” is only a generic term, not a term that can vary in meaning from team to team. Is that right?

With that said, virtually 100% of the Super Bowl snaps were in the 4-2-5 configuration, so it clearly was the most frequent … by a mile. Doesn’t that make it , functionally, Fangio’s "base.” With adjustments from that base depending on opponent and game-specific situations?

Yes, it does.

But, to me, "base" can vary from team to team, and always has. It's not just the old 4-3-4, because NE and Pittsburgh ran a lot of 3-4 - as their base. And even the 4-2-5 can vary, as it did in the SB. The edge rushers often lined up well outside the OTs. Having that extra yard or two to build up momentum enabled them to overpower the OTs even while giving up 50 pounds per man. Look at Smith, who goes maybe 240-245, driving back guards and tackles because he's coming full tilt and the OL is just standing there.

Kind of surprised the punching was never targeted to ban. Plenty of times they'll miss and literally punch the player. It doesn't seem to start fights but I think there has been at least 1 started

I remember a game many years ago against the Patriots when Sam "Bam" Cunningham (Randall's older brother) was a RB for the Pats and Bergey was our MLB. Bergey had a guy coming in low on him and Sam was cutting across behind the blocker. Bergey knocked Cunningham cold with a left hook. IIRC, Sam went to the cage facemask after that.

He's going to want the security a new deal will provide... Very few players like playing on that last year if they can avoid it. It's why the franchise tag is so hated by the players, because they've already taken that year of risk to hit free agency, and then the team forces them to do it all over again.

Given the state of my plumbing post prostate cancer the only big is in my dreams.

That sucks and I am sorry to hear that. I've been going through some prostate stuff myself over the past 12 months. No cancer diagnosis, but plenty of things to keep the urologists busy and testing.

That 30% threshold seems like an odd choice. I wonder why he put it there.

lol. Baun went from a who cares free agent signing to a widely acknowledged stud in a very short time.

It is. As of right now, he's more of a one year wonder. If he can stack two years (or even three) like that together, now we've really got something!!!

You also have to consider his age. This is likely his last bite at the Apple. You can convince a guy like Sweat to go with that approach who entered free agency at 27. Hendrickson will be a 31 year old free agent next offseason. I don’t see why he would want to do a prove it deal.

Not really. Depending upon how much of the bonus we pay, it's a pretty big nut. Now that Goedert is staying, Howie might be able to squeeze it under the cap. But will take some doing.

For this year, but a big cap hit in 2026.

Marchan's arm is legit. Perfect throw.

It all depends on who pays the 2025 option bonus. The numbers from Spotrac assume the Eagles pay it, but it isn't due until the start of the season. So far, we have paid him $17.25mm in cash and taken $4.35mm in cap charges, leaving $12.9mm in dead money if an acquirer takes all of his 2025 comp. If we have to pay all of the $15.58mm option bonus, then the dead money is $28.48mm in total. I don't see anyone paying Huff $16.75mm cash this year ($15.58mm bonus plus $1.17mm base) and giving up a pick, so likely we have to negotiate to pay a good chunk of the option bonus.

At the 50 second mark he says Jalen Hurts is a damn good quarterback. He's in his top 5. One of the 9 guys in his top 5.

Fair enough.

With that acknowledged, the difference between playing on the Bengals Defense and playing on the Eagles Defense should be a significant incentive. It would be for me.
