I thought they did too a little bit… And why not if you know your opponent is not going to really try to run the ball at all

It’s something he and Stoutland have in common: they like to get their guys moving. How can a guy, like Smith, who weighs 240+/- overpower a guy who outweighs him by 60 pounds? F=m•A. It’s the A that gets it done. And when it’s the bigger guy who’s moving, the mass and thus the force is even greater.

It’s not just quickness that gets the job done for the edge. I think the basic reason Fangio benched Huff was because he was strictly a speed guy and a speed guy who tries to slip contact can’t set an edge.

What’s up, guys? I’ve been quiet on here lately. The truth is, I’ve been going through a rough stretch with my mental health. I wasn’t sure whether to say anything, but with June being Men’s Mental He

My recollection is that Fangio had his edges rush a lot from the wide-9 in the Super Bowl. I’ll have to look it up.

There is one play in the NFCCG where Q in press coverage on McLaurin is inside Nolan Smith … and that is because Smith moved outside rather than Q moving inside. It comes at the 6:00 point of the video below.

If you compare the roster composition between the McNabb era and the Hurts era, one is generational and one isn't. The other is good to very good, but had way more flaws in it.

This isn't to dunk on Hurts at all, but McNabb would go up a notch with the recent SB winning roster.

Hurts played better in big moments than Mcnabb.

So, was the Huff trade made official today?

I saw this on Twitter and am devastated that I didn’t come up with this idea despite having the exact same frame and confetti from the game.

Nope. Guessing it’s tomorrow when transactions get processed. Still haven’t seen anywhere at all what the actual trade is but considering he reworked his deal, I’m guessing it’s all but done and likely not a great return, which is to be expected.

I thought Huff would be effective in a rotational edge rush role with lower snaps and lower expectations…almost the exact depth we actually need this year.

But it’s abundantly clear the Eagles and Fangio would rather have Jake Elliott set the edge than Bryce Huff. Maybe he’ll fit better back with Saleh and achieve respectability, but I wouldn’t expect explosive success.

Personally, given Jake’s aggressiveness, I think I would rather see him set an edge or even drop in coverage than Huff, based on his limited snaps last year.

Any return is great. He gave us nothing and cost a fortune.

I hope there are some signings around the league tomorrow. This time of year is the worst for football content.

He has, but he's also not asked to do nearly half of what McNabb was. He has the advantage of an all pro roster and a coaching staff that knows how to properly utilize him, and that was what McNabb lacked.

McNabb had only 3 playoff games with fewer than 30 attempts, and of those only 2 were fewer than 25; Hurts has had 6 games under 30 attempts, and 4 under 25. McNabb had a lot more put on his shoulders

Trust me, I’m in the same boat as you. I’m just saying the initial "mid round pick” then later clarified to "Day 3 pick” and then never further reported on points to Eagles PR pushing info to Schefter.

I thought they would have to give up a pick to get him off the team with someone else taking a chunk of his salary. I’m just expecting a 6th rounder at this point is all, which is still better than nothing.

It’s the 6/7 week dead zone of the year and post June 1st has meant less since the last few CBA’s. Outside of a Blakenship extension I’m not sure there will be much news unless Eagles use one of two open spots for a name veteran.

The successor

Maliq Carr wasnt listed on the roster for rookie mini camp. Has he been around at OTAs, or did he really Frank Gore us?

There's no question that Hurts has consistently stepped up in big moments. It is somewhat of disservice to McNabb to say he choked all of the time. He had dynamic games in critical moments. He came up short in 2 big games where the team was favored to win. They should have won the Super Bowl with him but he threw key ints and threw up a chance to lead a comeback drive. To a lesser extent, he choked in the NFC Championship game against the Bucs. Arguably, more of that loss goes on Jim Johnson and Reid.

In NY huff was rushed as a wide 9 most of the time and I assume Saleh will probably use him the same, In contrast Vic doesnt rush his Edges from wide 9 that much.

Bad evaluation by Howie and Co. Oh well glad they are able to trade him as its not a total loss.

If you go to Igglesblitz.com today you’ll see a piece by Tommy about Nolan Smith, with clips. In every one of them the Eagles line up in the wide-9. In one of them, Smith is even lined up outside Mitchell, who’s covering a wide receiver.

Correction: there is one play where Smith lines up off the LOS and covers the TE on a wheel route. That one was not a wide-9 alignment.

Choked at the end of the Rams NFC Championship Game. Choked in the Bucs and Panthers NFC Championship Game. Choked the entire Super Bowl. Choked the first half of the Cardinals NFC Championship Game and was not that good on the final drive either.

His two best playoff performances were the Packers 4th and 26 game and then also the Vikings game in the Super Bowl year.

As opposed to an unamed veteran?

I am guessing there are conditions tied to it. I also wouldn't be surprised if the pick is in 2027. I could see them getting a 5th that becomes a 4th. The initial reports made it seem like a 4th that could become a 3rd.

I don’t think there will be much to talk about when they sign some scrub RB that was on the 49ers last year

I saw that movie. It's a great one.

Ironically, this man, who never was, actually had a name. blink

Still can. Nothing wrong with copying ideas. The pic of Hurts with the cigar smoke and Lombardi was a keeper too

Looks like Barkley will get the Madden cover after all

Also, I ordered this a little over a month ago. Will probably be the last SB59 thing I order for a while, but I'll put a link here in case anyone wants it. I ordered it more for collecting purposes than anything. I got the ESPN mag and the SI ones so I figured I'd get this one too..
