It's interesting how we had a bunch of rookies step up last year. Here's to hoping the next rookies do the same

The SB criticism being fake is kind of funny. In one way it's good that he gathered everyone up to compliment them after that defensive powerhouse they displayed. Congratulating the defense for that performance likely goes a long way in their development

Coaching was a huge difference last year. Young players stepping up, rookies starting or contributing a lot in the end of the year. Vic and his coaching staff have the guys disciplined and prepared. Plus, the talent they are bringing in are young and hungry, even now they still want more after last year.

So basically, he's CB2? Am I reading that wrong?

I think you are reading it wrong. Yes, he played some CB2 but we only played "base”, i.e. 4-3-4, 160 snaps in 21 games

per Fangio - eight snaps a game. The rest of the time he was a combination slot corner and box safety. Because he is so strong in run support and covering TEs and RBs, we could play with the light box - 4-2-5, which was even lighter than that sounds because much of the time we had undersized edge players, Hunt being about 250 and Smith less than that.

You are not. Here's a hot take. He was CB2 last year too... it just wasn't official yet.

Yes. Vic does not play and it shows on the field. He has been a revelation.

Vick and Brown would be a cheat code

My question is who is the HC for this exercise. If it Reid in McNabb or Vick's best year, I would take Hurts with Sirianni.

I don't know a ton about Myles Hinton, but I know he was impressed by lunch. lol

It came directly from Jalyx Hunt.

Is it possible that Jalyx is a bit of a jokester? He is the guy that called Howie "Big Pimpin'" on draft day.

It just says in their prime. Vick in his prime throwing to Brown in his prime would be awesome to see

Welcome to the club, Jordan.

Remembering how the Eagles social media team decided to promote his contract news.

Good response. I’ve embedded comments below. My original Socratic question has prompted the discussion I was looking for. Thanks for jumping in. My comments embedded below.

OK, assuming you will grant me Mahomes (and if you won't, then there's no point in this).

Wentz average of 1st 4 years: 3,548 passing yards, 94.1 rating, 1 2nd team all pro, 1 pro bowl Add a Super Bowl victory.

Lamar average of 1st 4 years: 2,492 passing yards, 96 rating, 1st team all pro (2019), 1 MVP, 2x pro bowler (2019 and 2021), led NFL in TDs (2019). Lamar inarguably more successful (higher rating, more accolades, won MVP) and then there's the rushing. The MVPs are clearly due to the combination of passing and rushing. I’ll have to go back and get rushing stats. No Super Bowl to match Wentz’s but there is no argument that Lamar (and Mahomes) have had as good a first four years as Wentz.

Dak average of 1st 4 years: 3,945 yards, 97 rating, 2 division titles, 1 playoff win, 2x pro bowler, NFL OROY. Dak inarguably better on stats and accolades. Dak’s numbers surprised me. Setting aside his team’s failures, his personal accomplishments are right up there with Wentz’s

Josh Allen average of 1st 4 years: 3,529 passing yards, 88.2 rating. Last 3 years after rookie season -- 4,013 and 94.9. 2nd team all pro (2020) and 1 pro bowl (2020). Debatable, but Allen had 31 rushing TDs in those 4 years and averaged 581 yards per year vs. 3TDs and 196 yard average for Wentz. Allen better. Absent a Super Bowl victory, but even with that deficit Allen had as good a first four years as Wentz.

Hurts: 2,941 and 88.9. 3 years as starter -- 3,568 and 92.6. 1 2nd team all pro. 2x pro bowler. 2 playoff wins. Super Bowl QB. Hurts with more accomplishments (same all pro, 1 more pro bowl, more playoff wins and got to a SB). Hurts numbers, especially with the rushing bonus put him in the same high quality first four years.

You didn’t comment on Burrow, but his numbers are right up there too. With a Super Bowl appearance as well.

What this clearly shows is that we are clearly in a very good time for QBs. When we go one generation back, who are the comparable QBs?

Probably didn't add the SB to Wentz since he didn't play in it

Wentz was on a SB winning team, but he didn't start or play in the SB or the playoffs at all in 2017/2018. I'm not saying he wouldn't have won the SB in 2017 -- it's impossible to answer that definitively. But I'm not putting a Super Bowl win on his resume (as compared to Mahomes).

Like just relax says below, I think you are reading it wrong. Part of that is terminology. I have never liked the number designations on positions. For example is Mailata OT2? Is Landon Dickerson OG1? Is DeVonta WR2? For me the designations are much more descriptive when location is used … LT, RT, LG, RG, Boundary CB, Slot CB, Nickel CB, Rover, Monster, H Back being just a few that impart more information than a number.

An additional problem with numbers is that someone's 1 may be another person’s 2. Of If I was pushed last year, Slay was CB2 and Q was CB1.

Agreed, but he got them there. And that is no shade on BDN.

Who will be first to get a ring?

Allen

Lamar

Burrow

Stroud

Herbert

I understand, and in principle agree, but without him they don’t get there.

What an awesome quote. Sky's the limit for Nolan Smith.

None of the above. None of them can get by the Eagles.

Yea, I'm 100% looking too much in to the 2 part of CB2. I understand what he's saying, but if he's out there for base defense, that means he's the starting CB across from CB1. CB2 when DeJean goes to slot is technically CB3, but not really.
