I trust the eagles pre-draft vetting of players. Especially someone they invested so much in to trade up for. And then paid the 2nd contract to as well. Howie was here, Big Dom was here. I have trouble buying the story that Wentz was just a horrible teammate, and uncoachable.

I think more likely he just kinda clashed with Pederson or other coaches somehow, for some reason or another.

Interestingly, he and Foles get along very well to this day. Im not sure even how many eagles fans are aware of that.

The downfall is often attributed to the concussion. But the other event that coincides with it was him becoming a father. I really feel he just lost focus.

There was a time, for years after he was gone that I was completely against bringing him in as a backup because he was just that completely cooked. But I think he has re-elevated his game. I dont think he has any permanent deficits from the injury. I think it was more an issue of managing family, life, and football.

Yeah. Baun as the 'old man' at 28 is amazing! (Adoree is 29, but he's not a core guy, in my mind.)

None of the 'core' is over 26, except Baun. That's nuts... and awesome!!!

It makes sense as long as it is a TE in the Goedert mold … able to inline block as well as be a plus receiver. Those are hard to come by.

As lokg as they have hands and size i believe Stout can teach them to block adequately

I put on my Negadelphian hat and mocked up a Kempski-like 10 reasons that 2025 will be a disaster.

1.       Winning the Super Bowl – Leads to a shorter offseason, more distractions, and becoming the target within the league.

2.       Harder Schedule – We had the third easiest last season based on record.  We now have the 5th hardest based on Super Bowl odds.  Throw the glut of primetime games in here as well.

3.       New OC – This could be tricky.  Kevin Patullo has been around the team, but so was Brian Johnson.  Hurts will want this offense to be the most comfortable for him.  There were plenty of games last season where you could argue that Moore and Hurts weren’t on the same page.  There was too much talent for the offense to ever sputter.

4.       Injury Recoveries – As stated above, this is a shorter offseason.  Will the folks who had offseason procedures be available when the season starts?  We can throw Campbell in here as well.

5.       Injury Luck – We’ve had a nice run of injury luck recently.  Dean was the only starter unavailable in the playoffs.  The regression should happen.  Right?

6.       Edge – Lost Sweat and Graham (and Huff).  Smith and Hunt both look the part, but depth is a concern.  Their pass rush wasn’t consistent last season.  Taking a step backwards from there would be sup-optimal.

7.       Linebacker – Dean is out for a while.  Campbell may not be ready.  Trotter Jr as a starter?  Not ideal.

8.       Cornerback – This is the moment the Ringo-stans have been waiting for.  There could be a scenario where neither Ringo nor Jackson emerge as workable, DeJean needs to be a full-time outside CB, and we are looking at McWilliams as our starting NCB.

9.       Safety – Now compound that with uncertainty around the guy lining up next to Blankenship.  We need to acknowledge that CJGJ was not an asset in coverage, which would lead one to believe that Mukuba, with strong coverage skills, would be the guy.  Put numbers 7, 8, and 9 together as a back-seven trifecta.

10.  OL Depth – I won’t focus on RG.  Steen is a solid option.  It is the bench behind them.  Who will be the swing tackle?  Will all the bodies that play iOL provide quality depth?

IMO, #2 is the real challenge. Sirianni will keep the team focused. Fangio will get the defense to work. Stoutland will get the OL right.

Good list but i would put 3 as my top concern.

Change is the only constant, though

Two things I think about Wentz. One is that he was not a "Philly Guy". He grew up in entirely different surroundings and culture. Some guys adapt, some don't. Second is a brief shot of him as a Redsk err Commander. He had just thrown an interception and the look on his face on the sideline was not what I would have expected, rather it was sort of vacant and defeated. I'm not sure if that was a result of brain injury or what but it sure wasn't the look I would expect from an NFL Quarterback.

Wentz spent his whole life being worshipped as the golden boy in a small pond, he was never going to survive adversity, he was never prepared for it.

I would put SOS as number 2. This schedule seems far easier than what they faced in 2023. It's not injury luck but really Saquon staying healthy. He was the difference maker on offense during much of the season. The team has a good offense without him but there isn't the same home run threat.

You nailed it. Speed at every level and players closing on the ball. This is easily the fastest defense we’ve ever had.

Yet the comments Ringo made about placing his feet and weight and controlling his speed suggests coaching is insuring they know how to properly use their skills. A player can have all the speed in the world but if they take three steps to stop or turn, the speed is wasted. Loved the comment by Smith about needing to play the run to earn the right to rush the passer.

How do you figure that? 2023 they played a lot more scrub teams like Patriots, Jets, Seahawks and Cardinals. This year it's the Raiders and Bears and that's about it. The rest of the schedule is a lot of the same teams.

I also liked the comment that Carter doesn't know how to play his position yet. The same is true for Davis. and for a lot of the young guys. You could see their progress through the season. I think Hurtt and Washburn are doing really good work. The whole defensive staff, for that matter.

I posted this screen shot a while back but I liked it so much I'm doing it again. It's the pick-6 in the SB but what jumps out at me is the coverage. Everybody doing their job.

I didn't know we could do that. The "upgrade" defaults it huge, and the upgrade also prevents me from editing it. Yay!
