RIP Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys.

One of rock and roll's early geniuses.

Me too. But since I only watch Eagles games, my stats are skewed. By my stats, the Eagles team and all their players lead the league in everything. It's why we are great and won the SB.

I demand you go through each game log and post the detailed analysis from each play to demonstrate your findings, along with the final numbers -- certified by an accredited auditing firm, with signatures.

Only then will the world know the full truth.

My wife audits all my stats, will that suffice?

A bondable person is someone who is considered trustworthy and reliable, typically having a clean criminal record and good financial standing, which allows them to pass background checks

If they are going to tie you up, they better be trustworthy and reliable.

Even with these "open practices” they cut them down to 3 to now just 1 a year for a few years now. The only redeeming quality about them is the money goes to charity.

They would likely raise more for charity without a charge and having a few collection spaces for folks to donate whatever they wish, with a few announcements that the open practice is all about whatever charity awareness.

We have two super bowls to make up for limited access.

You think that will matter to the next generation of fans who won't remember these Super Bowls? The access I'm referring to isn't about adults like us, its about the next generation of fans... letting them get close to the players and rub elbows with them and build a relationship. When you keep yourself at a distance, eventually that can erode what has been long established. Lurie has done a lot of great things with this team as owner. One thing he didn't have to do was to cultivate a love for this franchise. That was in place long before he ever dreamed of owning the Eagles. Removing the team from the fans and keeping them at arm's length isn't going to build a stronger relationship between the team and the fans... quite the opposite, actually.

Just like them taking away "home" games from the fanbase and sending the team to 'host' a game in Brazil wasn't about current fans, but trying to get new fans in places that don't currently have a big base of fans. That's a long view of trying to squeeze even more money from the product. Well, while doing that, they should have an eye on the next generation of fans in the CURRENT places where they have fans. I'm sure half a century ago no one saw baseball losing popularity in this country either... but here we are.

Not that it was much of a debate, but the beats are already declaring the #3 QB battle over even though training camp hasn't started. McCord has been miles ahead of DTR so far. McCord has looked legitimately good and DTR not good. I don't think anyone expected DTR to beat him out though.

The contracts are a crap show. I don't think they are using attorneys to write them. One of the attorneys I work with reviews them for student athletes for a flat fee. They routinely try to include pretty honerous and unenforceable provisions. The other problem is the universities are hell bent on not categorizing these paid athletes as employees. It's a losing argument. It's likely a big misclassification error with tax penalty consequences for the universities. At some point, some excess carrier is going to have a claim against the University on the misclassification issue.

Misclassification is more of a primary carrier issue. I can’t see, absent some statute, universities not having to afford worker’s compensation coverage for players (not unlike what we see with volunteer fire companies). I also can’t see universities avoiding paying FICA taxes and withholding for income taxes.

The Athletic had an interesting article on Deloitte running the clearing house for NIL, which relies on self reporting on deals above $600. The author and folks he interviewed sees a failure to report and payments under the table returning.

The joke ended at Lurie being cash strapped. I don't like the limited access fans have now, and I HATE that the limited access they have now includes a charge. I know it costs money to have the stadium opened up to allow the fans in... but this is short sighted.

My memory being what it is, I likely make this same complaint every year when this news breaks.

Unnoticed is the Beats only got three days access in the OTAs, last year I think they had access to all. That said, I am not sure that is bad. Allow these young men to practice and correct not under a constant eye.

It’s a miracle he lasted until he was 82. Same for Sly Stone, also 82. I note that Keith Richards turns 82 in December.

Someone in the thread said he was dismayed Burrow wasn’t on the list, so I replied that we should list the reasons.

  1. Plays in Cincinnati

  2. Failed to qualify for playoffs (again)

  3. 2nd best qb in his own draft class

I think Blankenship is better than he's given credit for, he was one of the few to perform at a decent level in 2023, his performance was actually worse with CGJ there. I don't think 8-10 mill is an overpay for him, I think he's the sort of quiet solid pro that always takes care of his job that you miss a lot more than you think you would when he's not there.

I agree that Blankenship is an above average starter especially in this secondary.
