Hurts will never get enough credit. He was getting criticized for his DAGGER throw to Smith.

I like Jordan Davis, but I’m sure the stats are pretty bad (for QBs) for the pass rushing snaps of every individual DL the eagles had in the playoffs. Kind of an odd team stat singled in on Jordan Davis.

Not odd in the sense that he is the one D-Lineman for whom there are pass defense questions. Showing the same stats for Nolan or Jalen wouldn’t be telling us something that we didn’t already know.

I don't think they will because they won a Super Bowl with the formula. And I think it was more new coaches in the building on both sides of the ball took some getting used to. And in general I don't think it was rust, I mean they won week 1. I think it was more trying to figure out their identity. I don't think there's any way they do it, the injury risk is too great. If there was any time they'd have done it, it was last season coming off that awful collapse of 2023.

As Hurts has been conspicuously demonstrating, the SB LIX win is in the rear view mirror. They (and especially he) are focused on the task ahead, and those first four games are statement games one after another after another. I fully expect them to take the task of making a statement very seriously.

Was the play called dagger or did the internet just decide to name it that?

Think Burkhardt dubbed it that

Happy Father's Day gentlemen!! (I use that term loosely 🤣)

Or they were right and he won with a historically good OL, RB and two #1 WRs plus the best defense in the league

Yeah, kinda like the Rams in 2000, or WA with their great rosters during the Hog era of historically creat offensive lines, or Dallas with their all time rosters(including historically great iffensive lines)in the 70s and 90S, or the Steelers with Bradshaw and their great rosters, or perhaps SF with their Hall of fame laden rosters, or Seattle with the Legion of Boom and Lynch.

But you are right, Hurts is the only QB in the NFL that won with the best roster in the league. Every other SB winning QB took crap rosters and turned them in SB Champs.

The calibre of the throw was critiqued; there was no criticism of the player.

For me, while it was a very good throw, it was there all game long because of how the Chiefs chose to defend Barkley, so — without criticizing the player, I do somewhat downplay its impact on the game.

Works for me. I’m in the Jordan Davis fan club and want him to get serious opportunities as a pass rusher. I just think a replacement level DT in this defense for 30 random snaps of pass rush opportunity in these past playoffs would still see pretty low qb stats.

Any word on AJ Dillon? Seems like he has been cleared medically after sitting out last year with a neck stinger. If healthy, he can take some of the load off Barkley

The eagles signed him in free agency.

It’s not called The Dagger because of the throw. It’s because of the situation and with Nick on the sideline saying "we score here it’s over. Call it.”

Dagger here means the kill shot.

Around the 1305 mark , it's in the live game call

Yes, I was aware. Just wondering if he has been participating and any news on how he looks

As in the final dagger blow to kill any comeback hopes.

Big if true.

Burkhardt didn't know that at the moment he made the call, but the thought process was the same.

Sucks 28-3 happened because realistically the game was over on Coops pick 6…just like the GB game was over at 10-0. Thoughh after that TD the probability went from 99.999999% to 100.

TBH, I just found out today it was even on the call. I thought it was an after the fact name like the Philly Special.

52 just started on nfl network. Youre welcome

Big if true. In that case, the entire world should be rejoicing

The vast majority of participants in team sports rely on the overall quality of the team for success. Sometimes a truly generational player is able to elevate the overall team, but in general success is a by product of great talent, coaching etc.

Hurts has done very, very well and worked hard at improving his game, but without a generational talent in Barkley, 2 greats WRs, great OL, etc. how can we truly assess his play over on a great team? Is it a byproduct of the system? As such, spending a 2nd round pick and him going to the SB twice is a great investment and a big win, but a contrarian could suggest that some success is the system working as intended, so getting an accurate read is tricky. Lest we forget how good Tanner McKee looked last season...
