IIRC, he had issues with his throwing shoulder in San Diego before he went to NO.

Yup injured it in the pro bowl game, Dolphins were expected to go after him until that injury happened.

I think there's going to have be some turnover to consider though in these entrenched positions. In 3 years the defense isn't going to be on rookie contracts anymore which means the offense will have to get younger/cheaper to compensate for that.

I'm not trying to imply a doom and gloom scenario, the core is very solid for this team. A lot can change in 3 years in the NFL though.

It will be interesting whom from the core on offense get a third contract here. One or both of Brown/Smith? Mailata/Dickerson/Jurgens?

Brown already got his. His contract runs through his age 32 season, I’d be surprised if they went longer.

Smith seems like the guy they keep out of the two. He’s younger and his style of play probably prolongs his career better than a physical guy like Brown.

The BG strip sack is tops easily for obvious reasons, but the Boykin pick of Kyle Orton to seal the 2013 NFCE title in Dallas with Jerry’s pissed off gesture will always be one of my favorites that rarely gets talked about.

Love it when the play of the Eagles manifests pissed Jerruh.

Mailata, jurgens (health dependent), Smith.

Smith and Brown just depend on how their body holds up

One would think Smith wouldn't last long because he's tiny but he's taken some crazy and illegal hits and got up

Carter’s back to back plays against the Rams top almost everything else, short of the BG strip. Way ahead of the Boykin pick.

Sure, but those plays weren't in the video, plus, they get a talked about a lot.

Well, they’re not talked about enough. They saved a SB season.

That' would be based on the assumption that not a single player still here improves from last season to this season. With so many young, rising stars that's a poor assumption. The Eagles' defense had 41 sacks in the regular season in 2024. I'll be shocked if we don't easily surpass that total this season without Williams, Sweat, and BG. Our first five draft picks were on defense.

I’m not sure I’d be surprised if we didn’t easily surpass that total. Do I think Carter is going to improve? Yes but as a DT I don’t necessarily think he’ll get a load of sacks. Smith is a little unknown so I think the hope is he can hit double digits but that’s a real big task and not easy to do. Hunt? I mean I think if we can get 5/6 sacks from him that would be huge. And then others chipping in I think 42 is actually a pretty good over under there.

That said I do agree yes I haven’t factored in some of our younger players developing.

FWIW you appear to be seeing things from a worst case scenario perspective. Here’s an equally optimistic perspective. Reality is somewhere in between.

Our pass rush is no better and no worse. Nolan Smith will continue his development and will be better. Ojulari replaces Sweat’s 33 sacks over 4 years with his own 22 sacks over 4 years, so a step back there. Jalyx Hunt like Smith will continue his development. BG was on IR and Huff was a non-factor. Uche and APR should be able to contribute more than the nothing we got from the two of them.

I’m no sure when we lost our starting RB. Saquon is still here.

We did lose our aging CB #1.5. His 2025 could be like Bradberry’s 2023. Aging CBs frequently fall off a cliff. Slay in 2025 was every bit as much of a question mark as Ringo is.

Rodgers and Jackson are a push.

Mc Williams is an improvement over Maddox.

Sorry bud I meant RG not RB I think it corrected for some reason. We lost Becton which given our alternatives I think is quite a loss.

You are right there’s different ways to view things and there’s a very positive stance to take and the reality lies somewhere in between the 2.

I’m not trying to be negative. We are still one of the top 4/5 teams in the NFL and there’s absolutely a very good case to say we are still the best team despite the changes. I’d hope and even expect our offense to be better. Hurts needs to take that next step and if he can this offense could pummel teams. I just think perhaps we are not maximising the window of opportunity we have. And I get why because we need to sign players like Carter, Mitchell and Coop coming up but still that’s not maximising the right now necessarily.

Yea, it’s a real shame GoT just rushed and nosedived the last season. It was easily on pace IMO to be the best show. I still will randomly watch the Battle of the **** just because the cinematography was so good. The last few episodes felt like they just wanted to be done with the whole show and wrap everything up while also completely ignoring every plot point they set up for years.

Sadly, the show runners had their eyes on a Star Wars Trilogy (that didn't happen) and a deal with Netflix which delivered very little (3 Body Problem). They had the material for a few more seasons that would have given a more nuanced ending - Jorah and Tyrion's arc etc. But put that slop out instead.

It certainly doesn't help that GRRM has been in hate/hate relationship with GoT books and the fans of them for 10+ years, But he did give the showrunners an overview of what he wanted the story to be (even if they ignored some of it).

As for best TV series. Better Call Saul is far superior than Breaking Bad. Series 1 and 2 of Daredevil are also really good.; Andor had a filler problem at times, but when it was good, it was really good

RB Season after 2000-yard Seaon:

Derrick Henry (missed 8 games): 27 years old / 937 yards / 117 ypg

Jamal Lewis (missed 4 games): 25 years old / 1006 yards / 83 ypg

Chris Johnson: 25 years old / 1364 yards / 85.3 ypg

Adrian Peterson (missed 2 games): 28 years old / 1266 yards / 90.4 ypg

Barry Sanders: 30 years old / 1491 yards / 93.2 ypg

Eric Dickerson (missed 2 games): 25 years old / 1234 yards / 88.1 ypg

This is kind of interesting. I always remembered the narrative that they were worn down and had disappointing years afterward… but they were all pretty awesome the next year if they didn’t get dinged up (Terrelle Davis…). Worst ypc of the group was 4.2, and it was 25 yo Dickerson of all people

I agree that BCS is better than BB, but only slightly, and mainly because of Rhea Seehorn 😍

About Better Than a Touchdown

From Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts comes an empowering story about friendship, the power of teamwork, and achieving goals together.

Jalen is so excited for the new school year because this is the year he’ll finally get to try out for the football team! But when he arrives at school, he learns the unthinkable—that the football team has been cut. He and his friends are devastated. But Jalen isn’t ready to give up, and with some advice from some friends, maybe—just maybe—they can save the day.

Better than a Touchdown is a love letter to the power of community, being there for one another, and how a piece of good advice can change the course of a day. Told with Jalen’s signature wisdom and gorgeous art by Nneka Myers, Better than a Touchdown carries a message we can all learn from: that by working together, there’s nothing we can’t accomplish.

Social media really puts a spotlight on delusional fans. Saw one saying "Hurts is better than Mahomes because.." and the replies are listing crazy stupid reasons

Agree. Rhea Seehorn is a big plus, but seeing Gus Fring be as evil as he was, Hector Salamanca not being a bell ringing cripple and how Jimmy changed into Saul, was great TV. It had layers upon layers in it that most TV show runners can't contemplate. And a lack of Skylar White.

I always thought I was alone in thinking BCS was better than BB but I’m glad there are others out there who feel the same way. I think every character in BCS is flawless and executed perfectly. I grew tired of Skylar in BB.
