Talent is kind of a moving target for the QB position.

I think field vision, progressions, and rapid, reliable decision making are a critical talent at the position. But they can't be objectively measured and they can be (partially) refined and improved. But I still think the aptitude for those things qualifies them as talents....no less important than arm talent, elusiveness, frame, etc.

He's up there for sure. The problem with Rodgers (and Favre before him, and others) is that we got so used to them post-decline that we forget how good they were in their peak.

My opinion of Becton is based on a lot of observation. Yours seems based on being ****y.

If you think i havent observed closely for decades you havent been paying attention. Its perfectly acceptable to disagree. Traits are grear but production/results is all that matters

Kempski had Keegan as someone whose stock was down after camp because he couldn't usurp Pryor.

Pryor has experience but Keegan seems like a guy that will be better in live fire than in shorts

Calcaterra is not an effective in-line blocker but blocks well on the move. The Eagles motion him across the formation a lot, either in an outside zone or split zone. In several of Saquon’s big runs Calcaterra threw the key block. I’ll see if I can pull a couple up.

If you find tha Calcaterra blocking plays, when you post them here, past a link to the Jimmy Kempski video of Ben Van Sumeren’s blocking snaps for comparison.

Toast, what was it about Becton’s production/results that you didn’t like?

He had his splash plays in the run game No doubt. I though his pass Protection was mediocre and lateral movement an issue. Think Lane makes that job alot easier. So does Stout. And so Does hurts.

I think its telling what we could get as a next deal that the league sees him in a similar light

The heat is really playing a factor in Club World Cup and that is likely to repeat in next year’s World Cup.

Chelsea have been complaining to the media over here about hot and humid its been in Philly. And other teams are equally concerned.

The lukewarm response to the tournament has been from the heat vs how good it is

I agree and expect he’s right. They brought in - what - four guys who can all play guard. Not a ringing endorsement.

I can see the argument in terms of athletic ability, arm talent and execution in the modern era. He, Mahomes and Andrew Luck are probably 3 of the most talented players at QB in the modern era.

I'm fully aware of that, which is why I find your opinion of Becton so puzzling.

From Kempski's dumpster fire piece on the Commanders. Note how young the Eagles are.

The average age of the Eagles defense (starters only) is 24. I rounded up from 23.9 because Ringo turns 23 this Friday.

I think we probably should've kept Becton considering the contract he ended up getting from LAC, but I do agree with you that he was overhyped by some fans despite being, at best, thoroughly mediocre in pass protection, and a clear liability at worst. Like you said, he benefitted from lining up next to Lane and Cam fairly often, but since they're also still here for 2025, his weaknesses would've once again been counterbalanced by their presence and also what he brings to the run game.

I am not sure how much of the picks were about need vs. best player available. I think Hinton seems like the pick with the most potential to challenge for the spot. Kenyon Green may also be able to push for the spot but he played terribly with the Texans. I am hoping the problem with Green with the Texans was coaching.

Random though, but Bobby Wagner’s resume is freaking ridiculous. 11 time (!) All Pro, wow.

The Eagles success last season vs the average age now will cause some teams a headache; this team is built for the long term, not the now like the Commies.

Equally for Howie, it will provide a crunch for contracts renewals at some polnt.

Dallas Goedert said Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo could get him the ball more often in 2025.

Goedert said Patullo has made tweaks to the run-heavy Philadelphia offense that could create more opportunity for the team’s pass catchers. "Throughout OTAs, I’ve really loved what he’s doing with the offense,” Goedert said when asked about Patullo, who took over the Eagles offense after Kellen Moore was hired as Saints head coach. "Little changes here and there and I’m really excited for the opportunity just to — with the connection I grew with him the last four years. What he sees in me in different ways that he’s going to get me the ball I’m really excited for.” Among the game’s best yards-after-catch tight ends, Goedert will enter 2025 as the Eagles’ clear No. 3 targets behind AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith. In 2024, Goedert was targeted on 25 percent of his routes, the seventh highest rate among tight ends. Goedert’s fantasy prospects would get a boost with more looks near the end zone; last season he had just three targets inside the ten yard line and nine inside the 20.

It seems like we have been saying this for about a decade now.

Carter could end up being the highest paid defensive player in football. Quinyon and Cooper have a legit chance at being the highest paid at their positions. If Jordan Davis finally emerges, they’ll pay him. Nolan is gonna get paid too, along with another likely Hurts extension. Massive backloaded contracts for the offensive stars. It’s gonna be way tighter than before, and they’ll probably continue avoiding adding/re-signing mid-tier guys. That might not be enough to keep everyone.

At Kelce’s thing in Sea Isle. So far Cooper Dejean, Sydney Brown and Beau Allen are tending bar.

Kylie is also here. She is NOT here to have fun. Earpiece and everything lol

Barwin just rolled in.
