It was super noticeable that his line protection calling was gone early in the season. Hurts took about half the season to really grasp making his own protection calls. He was struggling, especially in hurry up situations getting lined up and set. Play aside, Kelce providing that at the level he did made him exponentially better.

Cam was Kelce’s own hand selected replacement, but he’s got some ways to go before reaching future HOF level for sure. Barkley had a season for the ages, so it’s easy to say the OL as a whole was better, but Cam had some issues with combo blocks & at times blitz pick ups.

I agree with all of this. It took the better part of the season for the game to slow down for Cam. He was sometimes too decisive when the situation called for greater patience. If he was uncovered he would look to help and a delayed blitz would come free through the gap he left to help.

Reminds me of the 3 important ‘foot stomps’ when i would teach close quarters combat..

Slow is smooth, smooth is fast

Always be LOOKING for work/head on a swivel

AI can be a good aggregator of data but also is victimized by the quality of data. Garbage in, garbage out. There is also a huge uncompensated use of intellectual property in some of these public models.

AI is far too generic of a term to use in this context. And it's not a dataset issue, it's a programming issue. ChatGPT doesn't perform poorly at chess because of bad data, it's because of the fact that algorithms used to perform chat bot functions are entirely inappropriate to use in place of multi-level computational heuristics needed to determine the optimal move in chess to maximize win probability.

What NFL team is going to be the first to hire an AI coach or playcaller and why is it the Bengals

Miracle At the meadowlands 2 is on nfl network now

Miracle in the Meadowlands II is on NFL network right now if anybody wants to laugh at the Giants again.

Thanks for this post. I agree with you wholeheartedly.

I hadn’t thought about the first four games of last year in the context of the line protection call issue. They certainly were not having any problems with line protection calls in the last quarter of the season and the playoffs. So that probably boats well for a much better start this year than we had in the first four games of last year

I believe the Raiders have an AI guy, Ryan Pagnetti, a person the Eagles are familiar with.

Porters suck generally

I think you are confusing Porters and IPAs.

I brought it up a lot early in the season. In a very rudimentary statement…the complaining about play calling, lack of motion and creativity died down almost completely by week 10ish IIRC. That’s round about when I feel like Hurts got really comfortable. We noticed him using audibles more often, more directed motions, and a lot more creativity. The team really hit all cylinders after the Jags game…one many of us called for Siri’s head after and were worried that a repeat of 2023 was gonna happen, but the rest is history. As a ‘Hurts hater’…set that Jags game aside, he was elite from the Cinci game through the SB (I guess the GB game i would consider ‘bad’ if I’m nitpicking). It’s amazing how the team gelled so quick. If he fully kicked the slow start bug that Siri’s O’s seem prone to for long long long stretches, I expect him to be in the MVP discussion this year.

You shut your dirty who are you mouth! I love drinking alcoholic pinesol.

I do beer very very rarely now…it’s a stomach issue commitment for the next day if I’m not careful but I splurged and hit my cellar stash the other day. Popped this 2020 KBS.

Still working on perfecting the skin on the back end for a perfect rind crisp. But my pork belly burnt end chicharonnes came out pretty fantastic today.

McCoy was breaking off some nice runs that game.

Watching that game I'm reminded of how strong Vicks arm was. He might not have been a good QB but he might have had the strongest arm in the NFL all time.

They both suck. Most American porters are flavored. (Peanut butter flavor in a beer)? India Pale Ales were over hopped to hide the skunk for the time it took ale to get from the UK to India, usually in significant heat. (And while we are at it, bottled Stout. Best Stout is fresh and from the tap.). Give me a lager, Pilsner or a real Hefeweizen (German malt beer, none of that Blue Moon type crap from craft brewers with fruit flavors) any day. Some Swiss colleagues introduced me to German Hefeweizen while in Europe and those remain my favorite beers. In England I had some Ales that weren’t over hopped like IPAs and they are pretty good but find an ale (not an IPA) in America is hard.

Chicharrones are awesome but not the ones in the store. My favorite smokehouse (unfortunately now closed) included a bit of meat with the skin like yours and slow smoked them. (Think a craklins kind of cut). That slow smoking made them crisp and gave them a kind of bacon flavor. Never found anything like them. Yours look damn good.

British Ales and Bitters are top Notch

Flyers had a good draft after whiffing last year. Good sign of progress.
