to finish your sentence- Peter Woods.

He's going to be awesome, but should be easily a top 7 pick, probably top 5. If we go deep into the playoffs, it's going to need to be a very rich trade offer to get him. I'm all for trading up but I wouldn't want to give up the 2nd or future 1st to make it happen.

Forgot the Rams had a safety

Man so much went wrong in that game

Blame his knee, blame the playcalling, blame the weather, blame AJ Brown for dropping a dime early in the game, but Hurts was terrible that game. So many boneheaded plays in the pocket. The Rams and Packers games made it easy to focus on the negative parts of Hurts game. Luckily, they were a complete team and Hurts played extremely well after that game.

Hopefully BVS is healthy this year, as he's a better blocker than most of our TEs.

Howie has prepared for this.

Feels like there are moves still to be made at TE. If Goedert goes then someone else probably is added.

On another front I suspect a few of the OL will get cut. People here seem to be more in love with Cam Williams than the Eagles but I don’t see both he and Hinton staying on the 53 unless they both play well in the preseason. There aren’t a lot of teams that carry players that can’t contribute

Hard to overstate how important Carter was in the Rams game. Total Force

I don’t think we can rely on playing incredibly weak run defenses every week our best blocking TE is out. Most of those games you cited were against the worst 5-10 run defenses in the league.

That's true.

But, when you compare the games they played against the same teams... not much difference shows up there either.

Dallas game 1 w/ Goedert = 187 yards.
Dallas game 2 w/o Goedert = 179 yards.

Washington game 1 w/ Goedert = 228 yards.

Washington game 2 w/o Goedert = 211 yards.

Not a dramatic difference... I think Goedert's impact on the running game gets overrated at times.

Yep, if not for Carter we could be talking about if it wasn't for that dumb safety....

I like Goedert a lot but he’s a declining player. He struggles to stay healthy and probably will lose a little effectiveness in all areas next season. I’d like to keep him but I think assuming if he stays that he’ll play 17 games at a high level is misguided

TE and Goedert are tricky. I'm all for paying him his money this year. I am very averse to giving him good money or an extension beyond this year, however.

Either the Eagles think he is so unreliable that they do not want to pay his salary this year...or, behind the scenes, he's very unhappy playing out the last year of his contract. If it's the former, I disagree with the FO. If it's the later, then Goedert is forcing their hand. He is NOT good enough to get trapped in a bad money situation with him in the future just to placate him for 2025.

His receiving output is linearly declining over 4 years and, frankly, flirting with mediocrity or worse. The offense doesn't lean on him much at all in the red zone. We all remember what he was and what he can be when he's truly 100%, but his net productivity each year is getting preeeeeetty close to replacement level, even when accounting for his blocking and especially when accounting for availability.

Pitts is probably a bust. But I wonder if we can offload the Huff contract to a Falcons team always needing pass rushers, and maybe send Calcatera (who is probably actually better than Pitts), to get a 1 year look at Pitts with our team, WHILE Goedert is still here so if Pitts remains a bust, it doesnt hurt us.

How does the money look on that move? Doable or no?

If you could guarantee me that Brown and Smith wouldn’t miss any time, I’d have no problem moving on from Goedert. The problem is we have no depth at pass catcher. Dotson probably isnt a passable 2 in our offense and our WR4 is below replacement level.

I always harken back to Goedert’s game against the Saints. When needed and used like a real weapon, he can be highly productive.

Really Dumb idea considering the Falcons draft

You'd have to give up way too much I think. We don't have multiple 1's or even 2's for that matter.

At this point i am ok just paying DG this yr then moving on. We ARE trying to repeat after all, albeit vs a rough schedule.

But not getting anyone in a good TE draft class is really disappointing

they always try to get pass rushers, and always fail. Im not deterred by their draft picks. If anything, they are probably more receptive to take a chance on Huff because now they wont feel the risk in actually having to rely on him.

Goedert has injury issues, but he can block, he's clutch, he plays great in big games. The running game is better when he's playing. And TEs are hard to find. How many busts have we seen at TE over the years. Pitts was supposed to be the second coming... meh. I mean he's good, but he was taken over Chase FFS. Certainly has not lived up to the billing. Vernon Davis never did. Pettigrew never did. Kincaid's been solid, but he really hasn't either. The Eagles found a top 6 TE. He will not be easy to replace. And even if they try there's no guarantee they get the right guy. Most of those TEs we've talked about in this year's drafts are going to bust. It's just the way it is at that position.

I was hoping the Eagles would sign TE Benjamin Yurosek out of Georgia as an UDFA but he went to the Vikings. Think he has potential to develop into a good TE at the next level. Solid pass catcher and blocker.

I’m still convinced one of his best plays that game, was the one he didn’t make. His late game sack gets all the talk and for good reason, but he had a sack on Stafford earlier that game where he got ahold of Stafford and had him lifted off the ground. In that moment, I was anticipating a ton of flags flying in after Carter slammed Stafford, but he didn’t. Just let him down easy after the whistle.

That's an expensive insurance policy.

I’m all for creative solutions to offload Huff, that would pay for JD and Goedert.

That play jumped out at me on the rewatch as well.

I also thought Rodgers was infuriating. Seemed to be in the right place yet somehow not make a play

With that albatross of a contract, i think the draft capital cost would be excessive. Unless you see a playoff contender with cap space. Dont think there is one.

Best to just see if he can remove his head from his rectum this year and rush the passer

I don't know that it would pay for both, but it would certainly help to defray the costs.
