fwiw Barchard is a very fringe player but might have a contact or two left. He said Goedert would remain an Eagle this season the other day

Interesting to see how he destroyed his career. Back stabbed BLG by taking the podcast to WIP with James and then a few months later they fire him and replace him with ESP.

The point people seem to be putting forward about Goedert is... he's both a very good blocker AND a receiving threat, whereas Calcaterra isn't. Calcaterra is only a receiving threat. What I am positing is that Goedert's contributions as a run blocker are exaggerated compared to what is tangibly measurable.

He's a luxury for this offense, not a necessity.

I'd argue a necessity. Premier TEs are the common theme od teams that play in the Super Bowl for many years now. Do we go on that same playoff run without Goedert last year? Idk about that. He was pur leading WR in the playoffs.

Does our season turn around with him or does it fall apart as they drop to 1-2 with a loss to NO and then the following week to Tampa without Goederts game winning TD in NO? Idk

No Sirianni extension has been announced yet.

We'll probably find out about it once Lurie takes out a few loans to be able to afford it.

It should be a prove it year with Mike McCarthy still being available.

Im really pretty surprised they didnt go for Jusczyk in free agency then if thats the case. Hes excellent. They must really be confident in BVS.

He's 34 and in a position that takes a ferocious beating. Get a younger guy.

I don't understand how this works - Lurie sells off a portion of the team, and then loans that cash back to the franchise at no interest? What's the role of the minority owners - are they closed out of these spending decisions, and the repayment of that stake back to the Lurie (is there profit sharing amongst the ownership group for which this additional spending would be a factor)?

This time last year I think we would have said the secondary was largely unproven, not thin. They had a lot of bodies there.

Slay, Mitchell, Cooper, Rodgers, Ringo and Ricks... with Maddox waiting in the wings. They had numbers, just a lot of question marks. There was a fair amount of optimism about the group.

Equally LB was well apportioned with names, but we didn't know how they'd work out. Baun, Dean, Smith, Trotter Jr., BVS and Oren Burks. Again, lots of bodies... not lots of hope for a breakout season. There were mixed opinions, where most people saw it as a significant weakness... but had a significant number of people in the room with NFL experience.

Good points. The same logic applies to TE this year. An abundance of bodies, but lots of uncertainty about how they will shake out and work out.

The WR situation is definitely top heavy. Dotson as the first injury replacement for AJ and/or DeVonta is probably okay, but after that it is indeed very thin.

You look good with that tongue in your cheek.

Exactly.

Dotson has been a massive disappointment, including here last year, which is one of the reasons they didn't pick up his 5th year option. He's in a contract year now, so maybe we'll get the best possible version of him this year, but I don't want to have to count on him... and I say that as a PSU fan. He's no Chris Godwin!

He was targeted 33 times and had 19 receptions in the regular season. Targeted 5 times with 3 receptions in the playoffs

About the same success rate of receptions with Commies but he also doesn't get targeted much in our offense

I don't know if it's so much that Dotson sucks, or if Dotson is just stuck behind 3 All-Pro talents and a very good TE.

Hurts doesn't read thru progressions very much and Dotson is down the food chain of options, thus he doesn't get the looks he should

He didn’t sound like he was kidding.

It's a nice problem to have though lol

One of the funniest parts from the Lurie interview was he unprompted brought up "it’s crazy that he (Graham) is known by his first and last initial. I’m not sure that has ever happened anywhere to anyone in sports”

He’s not even the first Eagle let alone multiple examples of anyone in sports.

Not for us. We got a Hall of Famer

I remember the TATE discourse during that draft period ie we finally got a top 5 pick only for the draft to be historically bad.

The fact that we got the GOAT RT from it was some massive built up positive karma payoff.

Nice summary of what we discussed about the draft video.

"But if you draft a prospect to be a backup and that's exactly what you get, then you basically just wasted a pick on a player you could have found in any number of other ways that would've cost you nothing."

We should probably thank the football gods Dion Jordan didn't fall to us.

Good for him. Helped us win 2 rings.

They have one in BVS. But Jusczyk was cheap insurance if they werent comfortable with him coming off his knee surgery. And also more proven as a ball carrier and receiver, in line TE, F TE, etc. Would have been insurance, but still can get on the field in a variety of ways even if BVS is good to go from the start.

I love that, but thats why the Mac McWilliams pick was the one pick that frustrated me. The nickel spot is filled. Right now, and in the foreseeable future. Best case scenario, DeJean is always healthy, and McWilliams is always a backup. In addition, he projects as a backup nickel as well. He doesnt have length to play on the outside. He wasnt the most impressive on tape, except that he had a great senior bowl week. If he becomes a backup, hes probably maximized his potential.

I dont like that pick much, and I dont understand how it fits with their philosophy with every other draft pick that was made.
