I think Herbert is a more talented QB than Hurts, but it comes down to how you define better. Do you factor in accomplishments or just eye test? Then there's the intangible stuff you can't really see. When I watch both QBs play in a vacuum, Herbert stands out as more impressive. But that doesn't necessarily mean he's better. I'd personally take Hurts over him right now for this specific Eagles team.

But I will say that when it comes to evaluating individual players, championships are one of the more overrated things. That's a team accomplishment, not a player accomplishment. And some players are regarded as "Playoff losers" until they aren't. Those narratives have short shelf lives. Peyton Manning was considered a playoff loser and then eventually got two rings. All it takes is one great playoff game--which has a lot of circumstances behind it--to turn someone into having a reputation of being a playoff choker to not anymore. If it's that easy, it shows you how flimsy the argument was to begin with. So many things go into success, that eventually I just cut through the BS and go purely by eye test. I watch guys play in the regular season and playoffs and just go based on that with who'd I'd want on my team.

So when I'd pick Hurts for the Eagles over Herbert. It isn't that he's won a title(technically two since SB57 was stolen) and Herbert hasn't per se. It's that I think he has an unflappable nature to him and he handles pressure well. That is a skill, and I see it when I watch him play. Plus he's accurate and his legs make him a threat and hard to defend. Maybe Herbert will prove he has that unflappable nature too and we just haven't seen it due to circumstances beyond his control.

But if it was all about playoff success then you'd have to put Eli Manning above Drew Brees, Rodgers, Marino, Lamar, Burrow, Josh Allen, etc on all-time QB lists, and anyone who would do that is crazy.

Eli Manning had 2 great playoff runs but only took his team to the playoffs 6 times in 14 years as a starter. His career record at the end of the day was 117-117.

Jalen Hurts has never missed the playoffs in his career and is 46-20 in the regular season. He is unmistakably a winner and this has been the case for him throughout his entire career, just not professionally. Doesn't matter who his coach is, what team he is playing on or who his OC is. He makes winning plays in key moments. Eli had a habit or playing a completely reckless brand of football his entire career.

Peyton likely still has people thinking he's a playoff loser considering it was the defense that carried the team in his 2nd win. Glad he retired and didn't keep going because it was clear he was done. Some players just don't want to let go

Some BS about Stewart returning to college. Lost eligibility when he declared for NFL draft and hired an agent. Participated in Combine, which is viewed as NFL compensation. He is not able to return to college.

Still super bitter we didnt draft him…

CJGJ says the Eagles were going to release him if a trade didn’t get done.

I assume they'd want to do one of those release and change contracts things that they did to others

Two Joe Douglas draft picks getting paid mega bucks in the same week.

Hot take: the narrative that Joe Douglas sucked with the Jets is a false one. He worked for a crap organization but actually drafted pretty well, and has built a nice core group of players. The owner forced him to trade for Rodgers and that kinda derailed things. I'm happy he's back with the Eagles.

Wonder if Big Dom will let him get near Roseman.

Derailed things? He was the GM there for 5 years, in which time they went 32-68 and never had more than 7 wins in a season. Not sure exactly what there was to derail there.

He sucked with the Eagles though.

Q and Coop gonna get the Brink's truck in a few years

Guarantee Sauce Gardner and Garett Wison are traded within the next 2 years.

  1. That's an incredible click baity headline. There is nothing in that article that suggests this is even a possibility besides the author who basically suggests "but wouldn't it be cool if he did?"

  2. That would be a disaster scenario the NFL would do everything they can to avoid.

You got a imagine the league will intervene eventually if it gets any worse. It's an embarrassing situation for the Bengals.

Now that college kids are getting paid, they have more leverage to hold out and potentially re enter the draft next year

Wouldn't the downside be that they'd be a year older when they re-entered the draft?

That leverage blows away if the NCAA won't let them go back to play in college, and as of right now, hiring an agent makes them ineligible moving forward in the NCAA. So, while they can hold out and re-enter the draft... they won't get that big payday from NILs playing NCAA football, unless something changes in the rules there.

I’m not talking about going back to college. I’m talking about sitting out completely.

While, no, what he got is nothing in comparison to nfl $$$ (and chances are he will hurt himself by being drafted lower the second time around), he has some financial stability kids in the past didn’t have.

Hopefully everyone understands why Howie didn't keep any of the notebale FA this year and traded away CJGJ now. The money needed to keep this young defense together is going to be staggering.

Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith, Jordan Davis, Reed Blankenship, Moro Ojomo, Kelee Ringo and Nakobe Dean all need contracts in a year or two. Dean is the biggest question mark, but you can argue for all of them to be brought back.

Cooper DeJean and Quinyon Mitchell will get there's like you said, but they can hopefully stagger those two.

Howie needs to absolutely nail WR and TE over the next two drafts. Hate to say it, but in order to keep the young defense together, they might have to do a slow turnover at the skill positions with AJ and DeVonta when it's time to sign the rest. Time will tell but Howie has built an incredible team. How much of it can he keep together?

He kept Zach Baun who was the most notable of our free agents. Everyone else had replacements in place. The CJGJ move is the only one which has left the Eagles in a position of maybe not being prepared for it.

He also gave Barkley a huge payday which was unnecessary and hindsight will likely look at it as being a bad move.

The guys who Roseman will need to find ways od keeping are Carter, Nolan Smith, Quinyon and DeJean. Everyone else, while nice, isn't some gotta burn down a different part of the barn in order to keep type of player and can be replaced.

We will see on Blankenship but I doubt they play week 1 without him signing an extension first.

Nothing you said is wrong, but what happens if Kelee Ringo plays lights out this year?
