I loved him trashing Dallas and I thought the best joke when he announced his friend's wife in the crowd as a WNBA star and people applauded and then he's like nah that's my friend's wife, see, I knew no one follows the WNBA.

I listen to Shane's podcast and he was saying last week that he wasn't allowed to write all the jokes by himself and some of them were done collaboratively with other joke writers, and they told him that he wasn't allowed to tell jokes that pushed the envelope too much.

ever. lol

Not to worry though... I'm in the same boat.

McNabb was just ahead of his time. If he was in the league 10 years later he could have been so much more.

It's crazy to look back at how there was so much pressure for him to be a classic pocket QB. That's just the way it was.

His most memorable plays (minus a few during the TO season) were off schedule and it was almost like that was frowned upon.

Personality-wise and as a private person, he just isn't likeable and really never was, so it's easy for people to hate on him.

He played in the era of Culpepper, Vick, Roethlisberger.... It was ok to make plays with your legs. There had been mobile QBs before. But that was a major breakout period with a bunch of really good ones hitting the league in their primes at the same time. It was sorta new, and exciting. It added a dynamic to the offense that defenses struggled to adjust to and defend. McNabb's issue was that he was injury prone. Thats why people wanted him to learn to be a pocket passer.

Might be out for week 2 vs Eagles

Technically it’s a schooner

I thought the move to be more of a pocket passer was his idea to keep him healthy?

Well, here's my guaranteed to be wrong first shot at predicting the standings pre-training camp. I go through and try to predict every game, then revisit if things seem out of whack. Here are my takeaways:

  • Washington is going to fall back and miss the playoffs

  • The entire NFC North (other than the Bears) will step back in record as they won't get to beat up on the AFC South again

  • I really struggled to find any wins for the Saints, but not going to predict 0-17

  • I think Jacksonville will be terrible as Lawrence is just bad

  • Minnesota is the hardest team to predict because I have no read on McCarthy

I have the Patriots making the playoffs and being the sort of surprise team of 2025 that is in the postseason after being bad the season before.

Would be funny if Darnold does well with Hawks

Vikings could go either way since the rookie will have JJ to lean on

I think Chiefs, Chargers, and Broncos do well

Bears are built nicely but we'll see if Williams takes that step

Wouldn't surprise me if Saints get 1 win by accident to screw up their draft

I think 49ers crash and burn (which will entertaining)

Part of the narrative around him was that he could not be a pocket passer. He was like Vick and just an athlete playing QB. I think part of the reason he ended up as more of a pocket passer had as much to do with his decreased mobility.

I think 49ers do pretty well this season. They have an absolute cupcake of a schedule. Eagles would probably be undefeated or at worst a 1-2 loss team if this who they played

It’s quite sad about Bryan Braman, but I do get some satisfaction — as I’m sure he did too — that the final play of his career was his critical tackle on the Patriots trick reverse. He came flying in and tackled the dude at around the nine yard line. What a way to go out.

Multi game? Why not the year? If people get banned for a year for betting on sports or PEDs serving jai time during a season should be one as well.

The penalties/punishments need an overhaul

I just jotted my regular season predictions down by feeling and ended up with the NFC at +8 and the AFC at -12 so I need to adjust a little bit. Here are my adjusted predictions:

NFC East -- Eagles 13-4, Commanders 9-8, DAL 8-9, Giants 5-12

NFC West -- Rams 12-5, Niners 12-5, Cardinals 9-8, Seahawks 8-9

NFC North -- Vikings 11-6, Lions 10-7, Packers 9-8, Bears 7-10

NFC South -- Bucs 10-7, Falcons 7-10, Panthers 5-12, Saints 4-13

AFC East -- Bills 13-4, Dolphins 7-10, Patriots 6-11, Jets 4-13

AFC West -- Chiefs 12-5, Chargers 11-6, Broncos 9-8, Raiders 6-11

AFC North -- Ravens 13-4, Bengals 10-7, Steelers 8-9, Browns 6-11

AFC South -- Texans 11-6, Titans 7-10, Colts 5-12, Jaguars 5-12

Niners have the NFL's easiest schedule; it's absurdly easy. If they can't win 10+ games just by suiting up, they really wasted money on Purdy. That entire division might be the 2024 NFC North, redux.

Lions lost both coordinators. Historically, that's a step back.

I have the worst teams in the NFL as the Jets and Saints, both with 4 wins. Someone will likely be even more anemic.

Bills will again have the AFC East clinched by Week 2 (basically).

Darnold will torpedo the Seahawks chances; same for the Colts and Bears -- no QB, no chance.

Oh, I thought it was a sloop...maybe even the John B.

I just think they'll use CMC too much and he'll get injured again and the team will fall apart. His history doesn't favor him

I just don't trust the team that much.

Purdy -- I'm really not a big fan of his game. Couldn't do much last year.

McCaffrey -- is he really healthy again?

WR - Aiyuk coming back from injury and Jennings may hold out

TE- Kittle getting older

OL - Trent Williams is really old and the rest of the line is mediocre at best

Defense -- lost a lot of pieces

I think everyone is too bullish on them just because of the schedule
