How the game has changed...

From 1970 - 1997 (28 drafts), only 8 QBs were taken first overall - Bradshaw, Plunket, Bartkowski, Elway, Testaverde, Aikman, George, and Bledsoe.

From 1998 - 2025 (28 drafts), only 6 NON-QBs were taken first overall - Courtney Brown, Mario Williams, Jake Long, Eric Fisher, Myles Garrett, and Travon Walker.

Following up on this, here are the HOF QBs drafted during the first era...

Bradshaw, Fouts (3rd round), Montana (3rd), Elway, Marino (1st), Moon (Undrafted), Young (Supplemental), Kelly (1st), Aikman, Favre (2nd).

Clowney said multiple teams are interested in him and they're waiting for camp to start to see their Edge situations before they make an offer. Doubt the Eagles are one, but they've been speculated of making another move at Edge for some time.

Day 1 seems to be going well 😅

I agree, but 17 points were directly from turnovers. We weren't as good offensively all season as we were in the SB. We struggled to win against the Jags, Browns, and Panthers - teams that earned top-ten draft picks. We were iffy against the Packers and Rams in the playoffs. We were outside the top-ten in offensive DVOA. Our passing game was objectively inconsistent. I hope that it will be able to step into any void created by less of a run game.

I think...I hope the SB opened eyes re: the offense. Regarding turnovers - they had 11 in 4 playoff games. We won because we converted the opportunities.

They put up 40 points on Spags. A lot depends on Hurts, of course, but packing the box to that degree to stop Barkley opens up a lot of other options.

33 points ahcktchually

I probably have spent more time listening to Hans Zimmer's music than any other for the last decade. I have his entire discography. The Last Samurai is a super underrated soundtrack, might be my favorite of his, but it's close.

Dreadful movie, though.

Glad to see he is holding him accountable...you want to get paid, follow the contract. I think Diggs is another one of those Cowboys that got a big contract after playing well for a couple of years and will never meet the level he played at to get that large deal...God we suck.

Starting with 1998, here's how those guys worked out for the teams that drafted them:

1998 - P. Manning - one Super Bowl win, 2 SB appearances, hall of famer

1999 - T. Couch - mega bust

2001 - M. Vick - Leavenworth Federal Penitentiary

2002 - D. Carr - bust thanks to terrible O-Line

2003 - C. Palmer - never made champ game, forced trade

2004 - E. Manning - traded to Giants, wins 2 SBs for Giants

2005 - A. Smith - reached one championship game with 49ers

2007 - J. Russell - LMAO

2009 - M. Stafford - no playoff wins with Detroit, 3 playoff appearances

2010 - S. Bradford - the less said the better

2011 - C. Newton - MVP, one SB appearance, zero heart

2012 - A. Luck - one AFCCG appearance, retired young

2015 - J. Winston - led the league in picks

2016 - J. Goff - one SB appearance, contract dumped on Lions

2018 - B. Mayfield - cut by Browns, one playoff win

2019 - K. Murray - excellent at Call of Duty

2020 - J. Burrow - 1 SB appearance, 2 AFCCG appearances

2021 - T. Lawrence - bust

2023 - B. Young - benched in second year

2024 - C. Williams - nice manicure

The only guy who delivered a championship for the team that drafted him was Peyton. You can include Eli as well despite him being drafted by the Chargers, technically. Palmer, Stafford, Cam, Luck and Burrow are good players at least (for their original teams), and Young and Williams have time. But that's a ton of misses.

It gets better lmaooo

My biggest fear going into this season is that teams will look at what Spags did to Barkley in the Superbowl. They will look at what Schwartz and Tomlin did as well.

I have confidence in Hurts. What I wonder about is will the coaching staff adjust accordingly.

It's why the Eagles will have to be efficient in the passing game. It's also a reason to develop a more effective screen game.

Smart negotiation tactics there Jerry

I think it's really underrated. My favorite epic from those early 2000's run of movie epics. I think it's a better movie than Gladiator.

I pray for Jerry to live forever.

Other than conditioning drills, I don’t really want to hear much about Barkley until the season starts. He had close to 500 touches last year, put him in bubble wrap.

RG spot is Steens to lose.

JD needs to step up this year.

All these rookies have tons of promise. Going to be exciting to see what they show in camp.

The Eagles won all those games and only the Browns game was close.

I asked Gemini about Parsons

Realistic Trade Value for Micah Parsons:

Given his age (26), production, and the need for a new contract, Parsons would command a truly massive haul. This wouldn't be a simple first-round pick. We're talking multiple high picks and potentially a solid player.

Here's a realistic range of what the Cowboys could demand:

  • Minimum Starting Point: Two future first-round picks.

  • Realistic Package: A 2026 1st-round pick, a 2027 1st-round pick, and a 2026 3rd-round pick.

  • Aggressive Package (Teams Desperate to Win Now): A 2026 1st-round pick, a 2027 1st-round pick, a 2026 2nd-round pick, AND a solid young player at a position of need for Dallas (e.g., a starting-caliber offensive lineman, a talented young wide receiver, or a solid defensive back).

Potential Trade Partners (Teams with Cap Space and Contention Windows):

Based on current 2025 cap space projections (which can change rapidly):

  1. New England Patriots:

    • Cap Space: High ($59M+)

    • Need: Desperate for top-tier talent on both sides of the ball. Could be looking to make a splash to revitalize the franchise.

    • Trade Proposal: 2026 1st-round pick, 2027 1st-round pick, 2026 2nd-round pick. They have the draft capital and cap room if they want to accelerate their rebuild with a true superstar.

  2. Los Angeles Chargers:

    • Cap Space: High ($107M+ in 2026, still good in 2025).

    • Need: New regime under Jim Harbaugh might want to make a statement and build a dominant defense around Justin Herbert.

    • Trade Proposal: 2026 1st-round pick, 2027 1st-round pick, and potentially a starting-caliber offensive lineman or wide receiver if the Cowboys have a specific target.

  3. Las Vegas Raiders:

    • Cap Space: High ($90M+ in 2026, still good in 2025).

    • Need: Always looking for splashy names and desperately need a consistent pass rush to compete in the AFC West.

    • Trade Proposal: 2026 1st-round pick, 2027 1st-round pick, and perhaps a 2026 3rd-round pick. They have money to spend.

  4. Baltimore Ravens:

    • Cap Space: Mid-tier ($15M+ in 2025, but often manage cap well).

    • Need: Always prioritize defense and elite pass rushers. They have a winning culture that might appeal to Parsons.

    • Trade Proposal: 2026 1st-round pick, 2026 2nd-round pick, and possibly a 2027 4th-round pick. Their draft capital might be slightly less than others.

Bill Polian absolutley made the right call there with Manning...the top two QB's in '98 were supposed to be him and Ryan Leaf...bigger bust than Russell IMO. Several execs in the Colt camp wanted Ryan Leaf.

lol, jerry trying to change the culture...30 years too late.

I am sorry but this guy doesn't look like an NFL LT...I hope he turns things around but he looks more like a WNBA Power Forward😂. Supposedly he worked this off-season with Tyron Smith and is expected to be much improved, doubtful, but we will see.
