What’s up, guys? I’ve been quiet on here lately. The truth is, I’ve been going through a rough stretch with my mental health. I wasn’t sure whether to say anything, but with June being Men’s Mental He

Nice in theory but I doubt the league would want to spend the money to send camera crews to those that can't go to the draft city

Clout

Baldinger loves the Eagles picks.

He thinks Kendall was the best pure center in the draft. Thinks Ty Robinson is a stud who will play significant snaps right away. He said he thinks Ty Robinson is a better player than Milton Williams. Likes Mondon a lot.

Let’s be honest…Milton should be giving about 8 mil of his 26 per year to Jalen Carter. I’m stoked to see Robinson play next to him…

I still think Steen is the starting RG this season; the Eagles found a unique option in Becton last season and it was more about him winning the job than Steen losing it, IMO.

Curious to see who is the starting CB2 and whether they can hold down that job all season.

What are the unknowns you hope to know by the end of OTAs and Minicamp?

The last digit of PI.

Whoever it is will be getting picked on all season lol

So might as well start things off with more Jordan Davis talk…

According to Sheil, the Eagles had a tick better defensive success rate vs the run on early downs when Davis was OFF the field.

🤯. So basically with him on the field or off the field, the run defense is essentially the same statistically. Interesting...

In the Fangio defense the prerequisite is not getting beat deep over the top (so Jalen Mills, Leodis McKelvin need not apply). Darius Slay was an expert in not getting beat over the top; I didn't always like the way he competed on short routes, but he seldom, if ever, got beat on go routes.

Weirdly, none of our DTs are good against the run according to PFF but we had a top-10 run defense last season (yards, YPC). The light box strategy would be a reason for why we might be worse than expected, while pushing opposing teams into being one-dimensional due to the score would be a reason for why we should've been better.

PFF! roll

Narcissists.

For OTAs:

  1. Does Goedert show up and participate? If they let him practice, then it seems very likely he is playing out his deal.

  2. Who is CB2? I bet Jackson gets the first snaps and they make Ringo take it from him.

Your 2. is an interesting take. Thanks for sharing it.

In the Fangio scheme the two off ball LBs and the White Knight are responsible for taking away the short routes.

When will nick get some respect? Why do we need someone to stand up to him? He's an elite coach.

Do you think we start the season throwing the ball 30+ times a game...

The metric that matters to me is what the 3rd down yards to go number is. I don’t know what Sheil’s metrics are.

Speed is the secret. Slay had speed his entire career. He ran a 4.36 at the Combine. Know what other CB ran a 4.36? Ringo. McWilliams is no slouch on speed, 4.41. Q was even faster, 4.33. DeJean ran a 4.42 at his pro day. Mukuba 4.41 and Brown at 4.47. Only secondary players with 4.5+ are McCollum (although coming off injury, I think he is a bit faster), Mayes, Blankenship (although his instincts are probably worth a tenth of a second most plays) and Ricks, like Blankenship his instincts shave some time on many plays but his speed limit is more visible as a CB.

Speed is definitely a factor in what Fangio wants on D.

Then we are learning.

The two things that concern me...Patullo isn't the guy and the injured guys (Dickerson, Jurgens, Campbell, whomever) don't return on time or as good a new.

I’m not really concerned about LB. Mondon and Trotter are pretty good depth. Mondon especially has the tools to be a good player at the NFL level.

OL is a little concerning with Jurgens, but the kid from BC is fairly NFL ready. Stepping in for a game or two shouldn’t kill the offense. We can also move Dickerson to center and play Keegan or Green if needed, so lots of options at OL.

That's odd, but Williams isn't here either and he would've been the one on the field. So with Jordan here it should be status quo.

Exactly - so I'm not going to get excited when some other nerd quotes the defense success rate against the run.

Eagles rookie minicamp invites

These players will attend Eagles rookie minicamp on a tryout basis. They’re fighting an uphill battle to be signed.

  • Sam Houston State WR Ife Adeyi

  • BYU WR Darius Lassiter

  • Houston TE Maliq Carr

  • Middle Tennessee TE Holden Willis

  • Australia Rugby Star Carsten Patu

  • North Carolina Edge Kaimon Rucker

  • UCLA LB Joseph Vaughn

  • Florida LB/Safety R.J. Moten

  • Wyoming Safety Wyatt Ekeler

  • Indiana DB Nic Toomer

  • Campbell DB Isaiah Greene

  • South Carolina P Kai Kroeger

Any others that I missed?

My suspicion is this is Howie filing out his data base. Maybe one will stick, but if others get picked up for another team's PS, he has some first hand info on them.

Question for the Blog. Looking at the HOF Tight Ends below, which ones were inline blockers in the mold of Goedert and which ones were in the mold of Zach Ertz?
