What could go wrong??

Too soon.

The driving theory for why Rick Lovato is no longer thelongsnapper is tied to a way for Lurie to save money. But has it been considered that maybe they view the way Lovato was snapping last season was part of the issue with Elliott having his worst season?

The cost of Lovato and the cost of Hughlett are/were identical. Both are vested veterans who qualify for the same $1,197,500 salary. Both contracts qualified for the veteran Salary Cap benefit.

These are all going to be awful. Maybe the Cardinals uniforms will be good based on the colors, but doubtful.

Why would the Eagles sign him to a 2 year deal when he can't play this season?

4 hours ago, HazletonEagle said:

To have him for the following year. Same as they did with Rodgers.

If I remember correctly Rodgers’ salary in his suspension year was less than what he was paid in 2024.

That's what I'm thinking for Wilkins. Pay him something this year knowing he may miss it. And then pay him a bit more next year but still a discounted prove it deal.

If we can pull that off, Id do it. If he gets big money then pass.

  • The Rams are the biggest competition in the NFC. I don't buy the 49ers easy schedule hype.

Niners suffering from the injury bug.

The San Francisco 49ers today announced the following roster moves:

The following players have been placed on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list:

The following players have been placed on the Active/Non-Football Injury list:

Both starting WRs and their WR3 is holding out. Bartch is another projected starter, with no clear backup.

No -- Rodgers wasn't paid at all in 2023. We signed him to a one year, vet minimum deal. Since he was suspended for 2023, he wasn't paid and his contract tolled to 2024.

Bored on a slow Friday, so went back and tweaked my predictions. Predict each game, then see the results and go back through it. Here are my takeaways:

  • Despite Jerry's incompetence, Dallas will manage to finish 2nd in the division but miss the playoffs. They still can't run it or stop the run, but adding Pickens will let them score on bad defenses. The simple answer is they will be what Dallas has always been -- beat up on bad teams, lose to good teams.

  • Washington will have a losing record because they had an ABYSMAL offseason. Somehow they made one of the worst run defenses in the NFL worse, and they added a #2 WR who is washed and can't play anymore. Add on being the oldest team in the league, and I am being generous at 8 wins. I wouldn't be shocked to see them 6-11. Easily the most overrated team in the league. EASILY.

  • Detroit will take a step back, but so will Minnesota, and I just don't believe in Green Bay and Jordan Love. No beating up on the AFC South this year. The interior offensive line in Detroit could be a real problem. And I'm already worried about the Bears and reports that Caleb isn't working hard. Seems like the next Trevor Lawrence -- overrated bust who peaked early in his college career.

  • Tampa Bay is a lot better than people think. Baker is good.

  • The Rams are the biggest competition in the NFC. I don't buy the 49ers easy schedule hype.

  • Buffalo will run away with the AFC East again.

  • Every year I think Cincinnati will be good, every year I am wrong. I will stick with tradition.

  • The AFC South is a dumpster fire. Lawrence is a bust, I don't think Ward will be great, and Daniel Jones vs. Anthony Richardson is like choosing between HIV and AIDS

  • KC will win the division, but barely. Denver is overhyped, but I've never believed in Payton as a coach

I think Dallas may be a dumpster fire this season. They added Pickens but their offensive line and running game were bad last season. I don't think their first round pick is going to fix that issue. Guyton was bad at OT last season. They are replacing Martin with a rookie. They didn't add any talent at RB. I can see them being a terrible team.

Can you put filters on the stupid posts that reek of fishing, trolling, calling Lurie cheap or just in general being stupid?

What else is there?

Lurie is so cheap that he had to petition the NFL to allow them to do the NFC East in 2027. That way, he could save up some money to purchase the new uniforms.

That's an unrealistic frequency as well. The more cities get a dome, the bigger the pool of potential sites grows... and the more cities have a deal made with the NFL in order to secure more public dollars for the project.

Yep, just look at Dallas. You'd think AT&T is a prime location now. They have hosted on Super Bowl since opening in 2009. One SB in 16 years.

How long is the cash strapped joke going to last for?

Damnit RTK

FOREVER!!

Or at least until they lose a game, and all our attention is focused on how bad the team is and how terrible they will be this year. So August 7th?

Dejean playing some TC snaps at Safety is a great little bit of PR for other teams. More optionality in the secondary to alongside more optionality at LB with Campbell. Very smart to get it out there now, for some teams to think about and prep for

Why is it smart to let other teams know what we’re working on?

It's the Gold Standard of jokes for the blog.

Anyone else think the next CBA negotiation is going to be a bloodbath because the new NFLPA head is going to want to set a precedent of changing the culture and regain the trust of the players, so they are not going to cave on owner demands?

I figure it will simply because these contracts are getting out of hand

Happy Gilmore was funny up to the first tournament but wow it went off the rails with the Maxi stuff

Well, we knew that.😉

There’s going to be a lot of money at that time. A lot. Did I say a lot? Could be enough to make everyone happy. There’ll be some rhetoric but I don’t think there will be delays, threats, strikes, etc.

Well, the NFL players are a little delusional like WNBA players. NFL players want the same kind of money NBA players get. And, its not really possible when roster sizes are so huge. NBA is splitting a pie among 14 or 15 players. NFL rosters have 53.

Aside from the dollar value, now you have NFL players wanting fully guaranteed deals like the NBA.

The NBA CBA is a mess and only seems to get worse. Its important for the owners not to let the NFL inch its way there. Or leap closer.

And those are only the obvious cap/contract issues. I dont even know what else will be on the docket. But, you hate to see a situation like Bryan Braman just dealt with leave him and his family with nothing.

Not what I’m saying. The next TV deals project to be huge. A much bigger pie. I agree that everything about the NBA is a mess. I don’t even know who won this past season nor do I care.
