Lurie is so cheap that he had to petition the NFL to allow them to do the NFC East in 2027. That way, he could save up some money to purchase the new uniforms.

He’s not even going to buy new uniforms for it. He’s just going to keep using these until they get faded in the wash.

I was big on Ojomo last year. I was saying throughout the year whenever he would come into the game and make a play that he was why the Eagles were going to be fine with letting Milton Williams walk in the offseason. People mocked me for it but I was right. Every time he got on the field last season he flashed. I've also been huge on Jordan Davis and he was great in the playoffs. Big sack in the NFC Championship Game and big sack in the Super Bowl. For me, showing you can play great in the biggest of games is one of the best abilities any player can show.

That's a big reason why I think Jalyx Hunt is also in line for a huge year. Didn't start getting playing time until the end of the year and just kept playing better and better the deeper they went. He is going to have the chance to play a lot. I think if he gets out there and makes plays early on in the season then Fangio is just going to give him more and more snaps. I think Hunt pushes for 8-10 sacks in year 2.

Beyond obvious of Carter's health, the next biggest impact on how the defensive line performs is Nolan Smith's health. That is the only thing holding him back and he has had to deal with injuries now every year as a pro and all throughout college as well. I'm worried he might be returning too soon but they really need him healthy for the full year. He showed last year, especially throughout the playoffs that he was ready to take that step to be considered an elite pass rusher in the league. I don't know what to expect from his health, but if he does stay healthy I think we should be expecting a 14-16+ sack season from him.

I'm not at all sure about Ojomo. My impression was that when teams ran right at him he got blown off the LOS. He definitely got wedged out in short yardage. To a significant extent I think the Super Bowl was a mirage. The Chiefs' OL was so bad they made us look like the '85 Bears but in the regular season, against a less than awesome schedule, we were very much middle-of-the pack in terms of sacks, of which Ojomo had none. There are positive comments from the Beats about his play in the TC but that has to be taken with a pound of salt. First, they were not in pads; second, he was going against Steen, about whom I have grave misgivings. It could be just as much a case of Steen being bad as Ojomo being good. I'm definitely wait and see with both those guys.

I agree about Hunt. I think he can play. More than anything last year he needed reps and you could see his progress when he got them. He needs a bit more strength but he's had a year in a pro weight room so I expect to see progress there too. Still, 8-10 sacks is a lot.

As for Smith, while I love his game and the violence with which he plays, he's not a big guy for the position. I am not at all sure that his body will hold up. I would put the over/under on sacks for him at 9.

Ojomo is sub 300 and it does show in run defense. A little light in the pants and doesn't win with power. Still a good player, but wins more with effort/quickness. Good DT3-4 in a rotation. He's not the player that Milton Williams is. We'll miss Milton more than Sweat, who struggled against real LTs (Thuney doesn't count).

Be prepared.

That’s the Boy Scouts solemn creed. Do not solicit for your sister, that’s not nice.

Unless you get a good percentage of her price.

And many more. He had a helluva life.

Why is it smart to let other teams know what we’re working on?

Going back in time. For me, its simple. The optionality is at the core of the system, with all parts getting practice reps to make it as smooth as possibl. The league will assume that Dejean will get some moving around snaps, so the more the secondary get, the better. You can't keep that secret in open practices too

We'll miss him for sure, but Davis stepping up could be huge, and while we haven't heard much about Robinson lately, hopefully he contributes as well. I'm hoping once the pads go on we'll hear more.

Maybe they will contact Howie to get DTR back, a couple of first rounders should get the job done

I think it was the summer that Mailata beat out Dillard, where Stout bombarded Jordan with speed rushes because that was an area where he needed work. I suspect Steen will get a dose of that treatment this summer to make or break him. It’s why Toth is still seeing some C snaps. I loved the JJ Watt tweet about TC practices. So spot on. Difficult to tell from the Beats tweets and articles but sometimes you can fathom if a snap was defense oriented or defense oriented.

I think Ringo is getting a dose of that. Interesting that the two receivers that he gave up passes to were Brown and Marshall. Two bigger receivers. AJ has great late hands. The thing that Ringo struggles with the most is ball tracking and those receptions suggest they are working him on that.

But for the OL/DL, LBs and RBs we need to see pads. With RBs, I want to see pass protection and that requires pads.

Right you are, but thinking it is a secret or should be is, well, silly. That’s all I was saying.

Love your insights on DBs. In my long ago limited experience I never looked back from the LOS unless I was chasing a RB breaking through. It’s a small world on the OL.

How do you think they have Kelly Greens? A lil bleach + midnight green = $$$

Some great highlights and memories here. Also a lot of the sounds of childhood. John Madden, Jerry Glanville, Gus Johnson, Tim Patrick.

Not odd at all. Why should we know what he is being paid. It’s none of our business.

Is what you are paid public knowledge?
