Eh, he played everywhere on the line except C throughout his career. You're right though, only one year at RT...I honestly thought it was more than that.

Yup. Started at RT, then moved to RG, then LT for a year and finished at LG. But, just one year at RT means he doesn't qualify for GOAT RT. But, I'd put him up there for either RG or LG discussion. He played longer at LG, so that's like where he belongs in the discussion. One of the greatest OL ever, and that's not easy for me to say about a Cowboys' player. Shame he played for that organization. Had he played elsewhere I'd likely have had an even greater appreciation of his talent.

I don't deny that Johnson was a big part in both wins... and even in getting to a 3rd SB. But, like I said, are you holding the failures of Andy and Donovan against Dawk? What if Nick Foles had thrown 3 INTs against the Vikings or Pats in 2017/2018? Would Johnson have been any less effective?

In a discussion of who between them was the best since Reggie then yes. It gets factored in the same as when comparing any two athletes. Marino may have been better than many QBs who won but head to head it gets counted against him. Same as any QB who may have not had good WR or a good defense. It is harder here because we are comparing two different positions. Johnson has two rings Dawk doesn't have one.

He apparently shot himself in the chest.

I used co-pilot to ask how he killed himself and it responded with:

The NY shooter was a nut. As most mass/spree shooters are. Invariably, when you have a killer who goes on a killing spree and leaves behind a manifesto, they are Fed in the head and suffer from delusions among other things.

😂...at least you recognize, and even appreciate your bias. I respect that.

Eh...excusing Dawk and the defense for the failures, particularly in 2001 and 2008, isn't fair. The secondary got torched in those games.

They all came up small.

oh...I did not read that. Well, good for him for saving his brain for CTE study, I wouldn't waste the time or resources. Throw him in a hole and cover him with dirt, he's a POS. Take your own life if you want your brain studied, no reason to take innocent lives with you.

From the story, it seems more likely that the man had some significant mental health issues rather than CTE from briefly playing football. It is unfortunate for everyone.

Well, I hope schmoopie doesn't use this chance to get you involuntarily committed.

It's only unfortunate for the ones who hadn't given up on life and were living and fighting everyday to make it and succeed in this world. Him? F him, he was a quitter of life, not sad for him at all. Mental health problems are real I understand that, but I have zero sympathy or empathy for him and others like him.

Emmitt Smith was a pretty good running back. And that’s not easy for me to say considering he played for the Cardinals

The Christian Wilkins incident came out. He just wanted to give his teammate a big ol smooch on the head and someone didn’t like it

He might have added a reach around to it blink

There are no tests in existence that will conclusively diagnose CTE in a living patient. He was just a scumbag who wanted to blame his problems on others instead of taking some personal accountability.

One of the greatest for sure, Willie Roaf, Forrest Gregg, Larry Allen are ahead of him imo...for now. When he hangs'em up he might be better than them.

Several to choose from.

What thread did I click on?

Wins are an interesting stat depending on the bias/narrative being argued:

  • a team stat only, it means nothing about the individual player

  • an important individual stat that proves the player is a winner or major contributor

  • used in comparison to other players that play the same position to indicate who is better

  • simply adds additional weight to individual achievements

He may be back for the opener, but the real issue for Dallas is he needed all the training camp reps he could get. Guyton was a project who barely played tackle (on the right side) in college. No one thought he was ready to be a day 1 starter in the NFL, except Jerry. He was bad last year and needs time to develop. If he starts on 9/4 with no TC, it could be ugly.

Good stuff

RB PASS PRO - One of the most intriguing periods was the backs against the inside linebackers in pass protection. Undrafted rookie Montrell Johnson Jr. held up well on reps against Mondon and Lance Dixon. He also did OK against Campbell, who seemed to be favoring his shoulder a bit after a Johnson rep but shook it off.

Trotter and Ben VanSumeren had a heavyweight battle, with the former persevering through a poor technique rep by BVS. Later, VanSumeren corrected it and stoned Trotter, throwing him to the ground. For a moment, it felt like the first fight of camp would break out, but cooler heads prevailed.

Other highlights were Keilan Robinson being forced to hold the ultra-quick Campbell.

Shipley was overwhelmed by Dallas Gant, and Mondon unveiled a nice swim move to blow by A.J. Dillon. Pass protection could be the issue with Shipley elevating to the RB2 role.
