I thought we’d hear a lot more about him from beats but I haven’t seen much at all

What’s up, guys? I’ve been quiet on here lately. The truth is, I’ve been going through a rough stretch with my mental health. I wasn’t sure whether to say anything, but with June being Men’s Mental He

Bennett had multiple dislocations and a labrum tear. A loose shoulder used to be career end for defensive players because the shoulder tends to pop out when reaching to tackle.

So Ringo just has to not fall apart to win this?

I don't think Jackson and Ringo have to have sucked for this trade to make sense. Booker was at best 5th on the depth chart at DT. Even if Ringo is a clear CB2, Jackson is competent and McWilliams is a hidden gem, that would put Bennett at outside CB 3/4. He'd be the primary backup if Mitchell, Ringo or DeJean went down (assuming Jackson is better and McWilliams is next man up at NCB). Some inside versatility, raw athleticism, and 2 years of contract control help too.

I don’t think this will be the only trade Howie makes before camp. Perhaps not even just one more trade either. I think DTR could have some team interested if he shows out in preseason and I could see him making a move at safety, edge, or WR at some point.

EDGE worries me with Nolan dinged up.

I want a drunk dial there...

I keep hearing he's beating the international player who stinks and he's not matched up with many top players yet. But I think we'll see how he does Thursday

Fingers crossed that this was a trade Vic wanted to make rather than a pure Howie move like Adoree.

Fran said Bennett had superb athletic testing, but on film doesn't look like it matches sometimes. Said reminds him of a shorter Ringo. Very good straight line speed, but looks stiff hipped and doesn't move well laterally. Said he skipped those tests at the combine, probably because he knew he wouldn't test well in them. Said like Ringo, struggles to find the ball when in coverage and come away with INTs even when in position. Doesn't think he's a real threat to challenge for CB2.

I know little about Jakorian Bennett. However the RAS and Draft profile guys had input:

Draft profile was upside as a decent starter but more likely a role player.

He dropped a bunch of picks in college

He does not play up to his athleticism.

He's not much vs the run.

I think this is a good gamble with someone who has freak ability and could be coached up to be a good player.

I hate these bottom roster shuffle moves on August 31st. I'm fine with them on August 4th before preseason games.

I'd look at him like 2024 Eli Ricks, not pushing to be in the starter or even 4th corner mix.

@mattwill remember a couple weeks back when you said the Eagles wouldn't make amy trades because their roster is flawless?

Go back and read what is said again. No starters in this trade, so no flaws in the starting rosters being addressed.

I think my initial take on this trade was an underestimation.

This guy might be in the mix for the 4th corner role with an outside chance to eventually start.

He already has 821 defensive snaps and 11 starts in his 2 years in Vegas.

DT is set.

It’s possible that they like Byron Young more than people think.

Well if Fran said it it must be true

Hopefully the trade is contingent upon him passing a physical.

I also think Gabe Hall flashing the last few practices made this move a little easier to do. If he is going to make the roster, where dos Booker fit in?

I shared that view at first but rewatching the playoff games i was very unimpressed by his play. Fine choice to let Ringo and Ricks sink or swim

We see beat writers tweet the splash plays and then they/we draw conclusions on who is and isn't having a good camp. But as Vic pointed out yesterday, these guys are also making mistakes. Maybe Ringo was too handsy on a route that he ends up intercepting. Maybe Ricks is out of position several snaps where the ball doesn't go his way. Vic talked about DeJean solving a coverage problem at safety they had last year. Never saw a tweet about that. We are drawing conclusions with incomplete information. (At least until the next Fangio presser.)

I like the move. Trade our #5 DT for help at a position of uncertainty.

Interesting take. We'll see how he does in these 3 games

I wondered about that but note that he didn’t practice yesterday.

It is

The flaw is the opening at starting outside corner. And it wasn't just the starting roster being discussed. I also talked about depth at various positions which you refuted any need for.
