Seems like the areas of most concern are OL and secondary. With Stoutland and Fangio overseeing those areas I am confident that if they dont like what they are seeing that they will let Howie know so he can address those areas.

Safety is interesting considering Justin Simmons is still out there. You would think if Fangio was concerned that Simmons would be a known commodity to shore up the position.

The way the beats are describing Sydney Brown in camp sounds like he's at least attempting to play the way Vic wants his safeties. They all said he hasn't had any egregious blown coverages or has been badly out of place during team drills.

The problem though is they also say he hasn't made any splash plays or done anything impressive. To me that sounds like he's not playing his natural style and instead making an overly conscious attempt to not screw up so much so that it's at his detriment in a way.

Part of it is that he can't just fly to the ball and blow up ball carriers in practice. I am sure part of it is making sure he understands his assignment. I can't say how that will translate going into the season.

Seemed more like they did that just to add a counter to the hosts expectation

The bald guy is a Patriots fanboy who seldom lends anything substantial to the discussion. I like Eisen generally, but his group around him on that show is very weak and uninteresting.

If Brown can combine heat seeking missile and playing within the defense, he could be a player. It will be interesting to see if he has progressed in the latter.

Apropos of nothing, I'm just going to throw this out there.

If Brett Toth makes this team I'm gonna blow my top. He sucks, he's always sucked. He can't block, he can't snap the Fing ball. For some reason this team likes him. He's going to look like crap in the preseason like he always does. They lost Dylan McMahon last year to a weird roster decision. Don't make another one this year by having Toth make the team. Him on the 53 means someone else more worthy won't be on it. He might be the worst person on the entire 53. He just flat out blows. Enough of Toth already.

It identifies as a spider.

Actually closer to a scorpion. Daddy Longlegs are omnivores. Think of them as like a crow or vulture but lacking venom sacs, it tends to eat dead things rather than hunting. No webs and a single segment body. It would be more accurate to say most humans misidentify them as spiders.

As I've been suggesting, we can take a couple steps back on defense and still be the best in the league.

One would think if Fangio wanted Simmons he would already be here. Don't think Simmons is on his radar.

I don't know what OASIS defense rankings are but

Maybe. Cooper DeJean is the one thats gonna save me. After all, he's our wonder wall.

First franchise tag is based on position, second on top five players. Thanks to Dak’s contract, that second franchise tag would be $56 million (+$60 million for Dak) might be hard to field a team. But 2026 tag would be $37.22 million. I think Jerruh has Micah at his price for the next two years. The 2025 and 2026 salaries are guaranteed but only for the current year andoffer no long term security or injury protection for Parsons. It’s a game of chicken.

Giving Dak what he got was also stupid, but Jerrah did it.

Too early for that. Smith is said to look quicker this year. Wilson is viewed well for his play without the ball. I take everything I read from the Beats with a strong dose of skepticism at the beginning of TC. We will see somethings for ourselves tonight.

Tomorrow night?

Ainias Smith is useless if he's not a great returner. Slot only + gadget kinda guy. Small catch radius, poor long speed. Wouldn't be surprising if he went unclaimed.

Johnny Wilson has no real WR skills but can block, run clear outs, and is big enough to win a jump ball someday. If Cooks can block at all and translate his practice game to the field, I'd rather keep him.

I wish one of the WRs would separate themselves as a returner. Williams has no juice.

Sounds exactly like Britain Covey.

Good stuff. I think all three of us see something similar. What we call Coop tends to be limiting because he can do a variety of things, do them well, and his responsibilities may change from play to play. I think Fangio loves this and I think it will be a headache for opposing QBs and OCs,

Cooper is pretty close to a unicorn. There are very few players who can do what he does around the league, and I think his peers recognized that, which is why he was listed in the top 100 as voted on by the players. He's one of those guys though that had he landed in a different place with a different DC who didn't recognize and embrace a player with that level of versatility would likely have struggled more as an outside CB only. But, put in a hybrid role where he's really able to use his football IQ, he can thrive. And having Vic who loves smart players with position versatility its a great match. AND, it's likely why he lasted until the 2nd round. I think a lot of NFL scouts were wary of him in a more traditional role.

No. It was because of his injury.

The Cowboy fan WANTS them to be 6-11. The other guy suggested that a slow start COULD land them at 1-4.

Context is a four-letter word for RTK.

I think its realistic to expect that they will lose the first two road games, and win the first 3 home games. KC wants revenge and this team just can't handle playing in Tampa. It's just not a good spot for this team. The Rams could steal their game, but a 1 PM EST start for a West Coast team is always tough. Taking that all into consideration... 2-3 is the worst I could see the Eagles starting, but I think 3-2 is extremely likely.

I think Simmons is cooked at this point.

I think DeJean played a large role, but not in its entirety. A lot of it was that the team had finally figured out what Vic was teaching and was understanding their assignments a lot better as well. I think we all expected the defense to improve as the season went on with the new DC and the young players being thrown in early.

3-2 would be an acceptable start though you'd think this team would come into TB with a chip on their shoulder. That was really the only game they were properly beaten all year. A Barkley catch on a ball right in his hands and a Hurts who doesn't get hit in the head and the team would have gone 19-1 (they would have been the #1 seed).

They might want to, but they seem to be Kryptonite to this team. And in TB... its likely going to be hot too!

Some "amateur” rules are just dumb. I mean we fed kids snacks at halftime in youth league and AAU.

I think we take them out this year. However, I can see losing to LA and being 3-2 in any case.
