Ainias Smith was one of the red star players, which is a guy some scout bangs the table for on day 3. Its not like it was a high conviction Howie pick. He can cut smith and fire that scout. I kinda hope that scout was already fired last year.

Red stars are about intangibles, not an emphatic scouting recommendation. It means they have elite leadership, work ethic, character, etc.

Incorrect. Its scouts pounding the table for one of "their guys".

Didn't they sign him to a decent contract? Pete likes him too. I don't see it. What about something like, to the Saints for CB Kool-Aide McKinstry. We'd have him for 3 more years. Had a solid rookie year and is looking good at camp. Or to the Colts for DE Laiatu Latu. Also would have him for the next three years plus a 5th year option.

I would trade whatever it takes to get Kool Aid

Random fact, I met a guy who said he was Morin's best friend the other day and I couldn't remember Morin's name being mentioned once from the beats but I didn't tell him that

Hopefully McCord is in soon DTR is a goner

Always liked Patrick Johnson

I don’t think he was a red star player, but he was a guy that a scout banged the table for on day 3.

yeah thats when red star players come in to play. As I said, it wasnt a high conviction pick for Howie. It was some scout banging the table for a guy on day 3. Someone implied Smith may win the battle just because Howie drafted him. I dont think Howie will feel that way. It wasnt one of "his guys". It was some scout.

he was for sure a red star player. It was on video.

Wrong:

"That's a guy who kind of exemplifies what it means to be an Eagle, so it's great character, captain, testing numbers, intelligence, plays the way it should be played, practices the way it should be played,” Roseman said when asked to explain the definition on a red star.”

It’s all about the intangibles. The fact that a scout would pound the table for this kind of player is self evident.

This is what a red star player is to Howie.

Pounding the table for a player doesn’t make him a red star player.

Hinton is struggling

uh.. yes those may be reasons why a scout bangs the table and labels them a red star player. Im not sure why you are disagreeing.

The worst Eagles player tonight has by far been Hinton. He's been awful.

Wilson made some plays but generally isn't very good at catching the ball

Darius Cooper led all FCS WRs last year with 1449 receiving yards.

Among 32 FCS WRs last year with 100+ targets:

3.76 yards per route run (1st)

0.14 1st downs per route run (5th)

19.1 yards/reception (2nd)

How did he not get drafted?

Anias is not a good tester.

DTR isn't very accurate. He overthew the 6'7 Wilson and I don't think even Manute Bol could've caught that one.

I guess you guys forgot what was shown on video and what else Howie said. He said on day 3 he lets his scouts put out a high conviction name that is labeled their red star player. They make their pitch to the room, and the eagles see how many of those guys they can get.

There may be various reasons why those guys would be red star players for the scouts, and of course intangibles are big in evaluations...

You can actually watch video of the scouts putting their name on guys. It has been published by the eagles media department in the behind the scenes draft room videos.

He's no Winston Justice though. Tough lessons being learned tonight. We get to see how he rebounds next week. And he might get the entire game for the 3rd game... then, hopefully we don't see him again until next PS.

He caught the ball well from McKee... not so much from DTR.

No, those are the necessary qualities of a red star player according to Howie Roseman.

You could pound the table for some athletic freak a scout loves, but he wouldn’t be a read star player without the intangibles.

Howie listed the qualities. It’s not up for a debate or opinion. He said what a red star player is and it’s exactly what I said it was. The only non intangible is testing numbers, which basically means they have a minimum threshold of athleticism.

You’re just wrong here my guy. Accept it and move on.
