Frankly could’ve gotten someone better than Gronk for that panel. Tbh i actually think Brady in that role would be better than his color commentator role

Much better than any of them is Kevin Harlan on Westwood One

Mann looked pretty good. Nice to have stability at Punter.

i feel like either one should trade for McKee. Particularly saints with Moore. at this point they are set up to fail this year. So kind of think they both just let the season play out then circle back to McKee next offseason as they know their 2026 pick and can scouting incoming Qb prospects then decide McKee or rookie Qb.

That said i think a sleeper team in this could be the rams. Stafford is already having issues this year. And he could step in now and win with that roster. But the rams could move on or Stafford could retire after this year

It's a deep QB class I would just suck. Arch and Nuss kid are good

He’s a favorite. He’s awesome.

I think that’s what they would do unless one of them wins more games than they’re expecting. I don’t see how either of those teams are not picking somewhere 1-4 but crazier things have happened. If it does and they are at like 7-8 they might not be able to get arch or nuss and at that point circle back to McKee. I think they’d like that the rookie would have 5 years of a contract left whereas McKee has one if they believed in all 3 of those guys

Still think the rams if Stafford can’t play at a high level or retires makes sense. I could also see a team like Pittsburgh might be in play as Rodgers is a 1 year stop gap. And they likely picking middle of the first round and might not be able to get the Qb in the draft. Plus McKee more ready for a team built for now

I'd expect Arch to spend two more years in college, his uncles and grandfather would counsel him.

Better to get as many games on a top college team before going to a bottom feeder NFL team where you won't have the OL and skill players to compete for a couple years.

Cj Stroud won a game his first year in the league

Jayden Daniels won 2 games his first year in the league.

Teams absolutely compete right away if the QB is good.

Arch already said he wasn't declaring in 2026 I thought

Thank the football gods that I don’t watch the pregame shows and that I can mute the announcers.

Need to extend him.

Here's where I'm at after last night and some thoughts.

  • I think they keep McCord and try and get DTR on the PS. If Hurts missed time, I don't think they want McCord as QB2 behind McKee, so they'd need someone on the PS to be elevated.

  • I know everyone keeps wanting to cut Dillon because he has no guaranteed money, and if he's not on the roster week 1 his salary doesn't become guaranteed. I just don't see it. If he keeps playing like last night, someone will claim him.

  • I kept Granson mainly because he has $1mm in guaranteed money. I could see them going with 2 TEs to keep an extra edge (Okoronkwo).

  • I really only kept A. Smith because someone needs to return punts. They can't put DeJean back there. I kept him over Williams.

  • I fear Cam Williams might be claimed by a bad team that can waste a roster spot on him and his potential upside.

  • Kept APR over Okoronkwo, as I think Okoronkwo will be more likely to clear waivers.

  • Dean on PUP, the LBs are basically set in stone.

  • Jackson stays because of the $1mm guarantee.

  • I think Vic likes McCollum, but I might keep Sam.

  • I went with the kid despite Hughlett having $467,500 guaranteed. I think the Eagles want a long term solution.

TE: I seriously didn't notice any of them, other than Calcaterra's drop. I really think we carry 2 on he 53, and TE3 is on the PS.

You didn't notice EJ Jenkins just standing around looking confused even before the ball arrived?

So, here are some thoughts after last night. Overall -- watching our backup offense march down the field twice against the Bengals' starters was very encouraging (even if the Bengals defense is terrible). Burrow lighting up our backup D wasn't shocking, but obviously Ringo and Jackson were concerning.

QB: Mckee could start for a handful of teams, and this is the best I've felt about QB2 since 2018. There's really nothing other than a 1st rounder I would take for him, as we have to anticipate Hurts' style of play could lead to him missing time. DTR is what he is...couple nice throws, a few WTF plays. McCord is a rookie, but that wasn't encouraging. I still think they keep McCord on the 53 and try and sneak DTR to the PS, but it's not a lock anymore.

RB: Shipley showed some nice burst, and maybe I'm being nitpicky, but I was a little disappointed he didn't take that long run to the house (maybe I've been spoiled by Barkley). I thought Dillon looked great and answered health questions while also catching the ball well. Those 2 and Barkley will make a nice RB room. Powell showed some juice and can be on the PS.

WR: Johnny Wilson can catch? Who knew. And I liked the toughness and route running from Cooper. Other than that, no one really stood out. I just don't see it with A. Smith, despite the TD grab.

TE: I seriously didn't notice any of them, other than Calcaterra's drop. I really think we carry 2 on he 53, and TE3 is on the PS.

OL: Steen passed the test and shouldn't play again this PS. Liked what I saw from Pryor, but he's a vet so that makes sense. Really, the whole 2nd team line was good -- Lamm, Kendall, Kinnard. Hinton was the disappointment IMO. Based on camp reports, I expected a lot more out of him.

DL: Robinson was good, not great. And Gabe Hall can take on the Booker role. But man...Ojulari and Uche were invisible. That was the second most disappointing thing about the night -- I was hoping one of them would show something. I have always liked Johnson -- great on special teams, makes some plays. He won't make the 53, but would love him to sneak thru to the PS. All in all, the lack of pressure was disappointing -- kinda proves how much Carter opens it up for everyone else.

LB: Trotter can play. Mondon needs time. And Campbell showed flashes. But starting to think Trotter is out there with Baun week 1.

CB: Well...damn. I have been a Ringo fan, but that was brutal. I get it -- that was Chase, and Vic gave them no help. But man he looked stiff and slow. Jackson was better, but that's like being valedictorian of summer school. I am now a much bigger fan of trading for Bennett...his stock skyrocketed by not playing. Catsro-Fields on the PS would be nice.

S: Brown...I really want to like him. He flies to the ball, then throws his body in there and doesn't make the tackle. If he could just learn to tackle under control, he could be a good player. Andre Sam might have a chance to stick on the roster over McCollum.

Position by position comparison to 2024

QB - better now than in 2024

RB - also better now

WR - looks like better now as well

TE - possibly a push, or slightly better in 2024 (hardest position to assess)

OT - better now than in 2024

OG - better in 2024 than now

OC - better now

The biggest difference on Offense is the improved depth at QB, RB, and WR.

DE/OLB - better in 2024 than now

DT - better now in my opinion, but possibly a push

ILB - considerably better

CB - definitely worse, but I expect that to improve

Safety - marginally worse

The youth transition on Defense is a work in process.

Also, with the usual it's only preseason qualifier, nice opening performance as play caller for Patullo.

He served up a nice bowl of vanilla. Heaping helpings of delicious vanilla.

I know I’m beating a dead horse here regarding punt returner, but I want that position addressed.

For a team trying to win another SB, things like field position are a big deal.

Anias Smith being that guy is just way too cavalier for me.

Big boomer at the end of the game too.

Not to mention he can make great money doing it now.

Meh. Who needs a punt returner? We can just put Greg Lewis back there. It will all be just fine. What could go wrong?

Wasn't the best extra point, though. Kinda low.

Actually other than ball security I think it's overrated. DeJean averaged 10 yards last year and they won the SB. Most separation there is 2 or 3 yards of field position. Again fumbles & extremes aside

Going well with the chargers
