Can't guys usually walk if they have an ACL tear? Of course there are plenty of other bad knee/leg things.

It all just depends on the person. Carson played on a torn ACL. Some walk on it, some don't.

The silence around it is a little bit unsettling. You would think there would be some kind of initial update by now.

I'm am a little disappointed we don't have many top back up o-lineman. We've been drafting them for awhile now with the best coach in the league and no one has really stood out. Steen was already nothing special at RG now we lose our pro bowler. A move may need to be made even if this is only semi serious. Scherff could be brought in for a work out at the very least.

Can't keep drafting linemen in the 5th round and later and hope coaching will be the difference. Stout is great, but can only do so much. Mailata is an outlier, so last year our line from L-R by draft round was 7-2-2-1-1.

That's not really true. Steen started at LG in the playoff game last year when they moved Dickerson to center to replace an injured Jurgens. He's played on the left side plenty.

Thanks for the correction. I didn't remember that at all but it makes sense.

'top back up o-lineman' is an oxymoron in the NFL. There aren't 160 starter-worthy OL in the league to begin with. Having a backup OL that is 'top' is a luxury. We've been spoiled over the past decade.

Good, solid base, get your hands up into them quickly with power and suddenness, and keep moving your feet.

Matt Pryor is a solid backup guard. I know we like to clown him, but he has started games and played decently in this league.

If Dickerson misses time, I'd expect Pryor at RG and Steen at LG.

And we drafted guys in the top rounds for years ina row with Dickerson, Jurgens & Steen. Then the starting positions were mostly locked so they didn't draft a backup in the first 2 rounds for a few years. That's the way it goes. Would people not want Mitchell or DeJean or Campbell now and instead have a backup OL who might or might not be good?

Yep, and we've spent our capital on the D the last couple of years. Great players and they were crucial in bringing us a SB but we haven't drafted an OL in the 1st or 2nd the last three drafts.

Whats Keegan doing? Toth, Pryor. The Eagles have options and from all info we've heard Dickerson's injury doesn't appear to indicate he will actually miss any time.

The backups certaintly leave a lot to be desired, but we also haven't seen many in live game action. Hart to say what they really have. I think Stoutland is great at taking top talent and making it elite. I want to see more mid-tier guys work up to good to great.

The first string backups seemed to do fine against the Bengals starters

Keegan has been third string C. He played some RG in the preseason game too. But his chances of making the roster don't seem great.

If Dickerson has to start the year on IR, I think Keegan makes the initial 53 over Green (who is also hurt). I would think these would be the 10, if Landon starts year on IR.

Mailata, Steen, Jurgens, Pryor, Johnson, Lamm, Kendall, Kinnard, Keegan, Hinton.

Green hasn't really shown anything either. That still leaves Pryor who I think is more than capable of starting in spots.

There's still some young guys, but I really haven't heard much about any of them outside of Hinton.

Overall, I'm not too concerned about the injury as it doesn't sound long term. Hopefully it stays that way.

Meanwhile, in Dallas:
