This is going to upset a few people in here, but Toth played very well. Very well. An interesting plus: he, not Kendall, was making the line calls and making them from LG. He was secure in pass pro, blocked on the second level, recognized stunts. IOW, he played like a veteran.

Hinton started out very badly. He was turning rather than sliding in pass pro, which is a no-no. He has a funny action with his left foot when he sets; I think that's something Stout has him do consciously in his jump sets. He needs more strength, which surprised me a little, Michigan's strength program being legendary. As the game wore on he rallied a bit and made some nice blocks. I can see why Stout likes him.

Lamm started at LT and was fine.

He should play like a veteran!!

Think the problem with Toth is he's a bit of a tweener, long but lacks the feet for OT, a bit tall for center, lacks power at G.

His value is he can play all five spots (though his snaps are iffy) and is very smart, which makes him valuable inside on 2nd and 3rd lines in TC (coach on the field).

But I don't see him playing ahead of Pryor, who has a better track record as a NFL fill-in and is a pretty decent OG (not sure his feet are quick enough to handle edge rushers at RT).

Hinton looks like a guy they stash for a year, question is whether he'd make it through waivers and be one of the three "untouchables" on the PS or do you need to use a 53 spot.

Given his frame, he just may need to physically mature and fill out to add the necessary strength.

Didn't see much from Williams that caught my eye other than the fumble recovery - that can be good or bad.

There are 2 teams that just appear to be COMICALLY overrated going into the season. One is the Commanders, and I've posted on them before -- I see them finishing with at best 9 wins, and most likely a losing record. I won't beat a dead horse there.

Can someone explain to me all the love for the Broncos? Is it because people expect some massive jump from Bo Nix? The roster is...fine I guess. Basically a bunch of B level players other than Surtain. They had one good win last year against a playoff team -- they beat the Bucs on the road in week 3. The other 9 wins were: at the Jets, 2 against the Raiders, at New Orleans, Carolina, Atlanta, Cleveland, Indy and the Chiefs' backups in week 18. They got pasted by Buffalo and Baltimore. They get lucky with the AFC South and NFC East this year, but so does KC. Maybe they ride a weak schedule to 9-10 wins again, but feels like everyone is picking them to win the division, and I just don't see it at all.

And if it's because people think Payton is some great coach...I mean, he's basically Temu Mike McCarthy. In 16 years with a 1st ballot HOF QB, he went to and won a single Super Bowl. Lost in the NFCCG 2 times. In 13 years with Favre/Rodgers, McCarthy got to and won the Super Bowl once and lost 3 NFCCGs.

I see that defense as loaded and over 9.5 wins is easy money. Offensive line is Top 3 in the league and offense will be good enough

Mainly, I just wanted to see Nick Wright cry. He's one of the most insufferable clowns on TV right now.

I will never watch that show. I've seen a few clips of his "takes". Total assbag

Out of all the backup OL the Eagles have, Brett Toth is the most uninspiring of the bunch. Hope one of the young guys can step up.

Just curious, Kinnard?

I agree with whomever it was that said any confidence in Toth right now is more likely confidence in Dickerson's return. That's great news and all, but I think Howie and Stoutland should also accept this warning sign and make sure their OG depth situation is ready to go, especially considering the uncertainty over Steen even doing the job well in the first place.

I spent a lot of time listening to pods about how Steen would have to be moved to LG so Pryor could play RG

Maybe I’ll learn my lesson and not need up to the minute updates that turn out to be untrue but I doubt it

Most podcasts aren't worth the paper they are printed on!

Toth or Kinnard, who will start week 1?

Could go either way. It's a Toth up.

I'll see myself out.

When they look at you, and you look good, they throw more at you to see what you can handle.

Look at Cooper, after that big performance, they had him lining up with the 1s in practice.

If he keeps playing well, he'll get more PT as they start seeing him as a potential 3/4 and not just a PS back of the roster guy.

The problem on defense so far is that players haven't stepped up or been nicked up.

So Fangio will keep rotating guys in and out until someone steps up.

Brown, Mukuba, McCollum, Sam at S, Ringo, Jackson, Bennett, Ricks at CB. No one has jumped ahead of the pack yet

Dotson looked pretty good very early in that game as well. Cooper's likely fighting for WR4 for this year, but next year he could move to WR3.

And, since all the buzz is about AJ being traded before 2027, Cooper could be WR1 by then! ph34r

Just rewatched the Bengals again on All22. I think (and the is supposition mostly) that Brown played disciplined. Not really a game where you could see communication. Overall, not a bad game for him. I doubt Mukuba is close at this point with the missed practices and being a rookie.

Sam seems smart and with decent instincts but slower than the others. (He is as old as Reed and Tristin but with much less NFL experience). Suspect year 2 on the PS.

My concern with the OG situation sans Dickerson is that even a competent temporary replacement at LG with Steen at RG (even if he plays pretty well)....does the offense fundamentally need to function differently than they did with Dickerson/Becton? It's just a simple reality that Barkley's yards before contact would plummet. May have to throw a lot more.

I’m actually not surprised he played well at guard. BLG has been saying for a while now (believe he did on a podcast recently on the ringer) that Toth has looked bad at center every time he’s gone to watch him at practice but at guard he said he’s always looked much better.

3rd tier analysis.

Bo and EJ were talking about if the Eagles make a surprise trade where they trade a player away, who would the most likely to be traded. Both though Sydney Brown. Just don't think he fits Fangio's scheme. Bo mentioned Eli Ricks as a possibility.

This is the big question I had going into this preseason. What's your take on Lamm at RT? Can he be the swing OT and be at least as competent as Fred Johnson was this past year, if not better?

Probably because Sean Payton is on a Bill Parcells-level of overrated.

Parcells is head and shoulders above Payton. His problem was he stayed in the game too long and it passed him by and he kept trying to recreate the past.

The High Price of Being an NFL Superfan

Fall weekends are sacred for football fans. The weather turns crisp, the leaves change, and the sound of kickoff fills living rooms across the country. Sundays are for back-to-back games, Monday…

Am I to understand that purchasing Sunday Ticket doesn't get you ALL the games? What a racket. I really do hate the NFL's corporate greed.

A lot on the line the next two days. It will be tough without Dickerson.

It's only ever given the afternoon and late games that are out of market. So it doesn't include SNF, MNF, TNF, and any of those holiday games

Barkley turned two or three losses into wins in the first half of last season with his home run ability. He was the NFL MVP in the truest definition, IMO.

My list would be Barkley, Brown, Hurts, Lane, Carter …. although we might find out the hard way just how valuable Dickerson is if he misses more games than expected

I’ll let JR tell me my eyes were wrong, but Dickerson was easily our best OL last year.

I’d like to think at least 2nd tier. But in fairness to BLG he said it last year with Toth at center and then again this year after seeing him. He might not get a lot right or people don’t like him but he’s been saying he’s far better at G than C. particularly saying he was just awful with snapping. I believe solak said same thing about Toth

Sunday Ticket wouldn't get you Netflix and Prime games.

The article is kind of misleading too. You don't need to pay for Netflix or Prime the entire football season.
