There was a bit on SiriusXM this week about Tanner McKee and why a guy who now looks so good falls in the draft at such an important position. It was an interesting discussion about evaluating QBs who play in systems without good WRs who can separate/legit OLs and the importance of watching tape to look at his placement and timing instead of just relying on the numbers. It's really a testament to a good detail oriented scouting department to move up and grab a guy like McKee who was really pedestrian by the numbers.

Here's hoping that applies to McCord as well over the next few years.

But all the more baffling why they couldn't see it when they had him in house and decided to waste resources on Pickett instead.

If they're dangling him as trade bait - YES, if they are planning on keeping him as QB2 then - NO. There is no reason to play him if they aren't entertaining offers.

He hadn't pitched in four days. He had to stay sharp.

People always look for someone to blame when guys get hurt in sports. When Landon got hurt someone here complained that the practice was too long and he was still out there. Stuff happens, guys get hurt. It's not like a relief pitcher in baseball suffering an injury is a high likelihood event

It looks serious.

X-rays were negative at least 🤞

No logo or wording on the field again. Making me think that either Lurie simply can’t afford it this season because he’s broke.

Or Eagles will be wearing the Kelly greens on opening night so t there’s no reason to paint their main logo in the field right now.

Here is PFF's way to early 2023 mock draft that had McKee in the first round. McKee had some pedigree before his disastrous 2022 CFB season. There are a few other names of note.

3. New York Jets: DI Jalen Carter, Georgia

On that vaunted Georgia defense, Carter earned the highest pass-rushing grade (90.0). That also happened to be the highest of any Power Five defensive tackle. He’s a twitchy 6-foot-3, 310-pounder you can pencil in at the top half of Round 1.

6. Carolina Panthers: QB Tanner McKee, Stanford

The former top recruit didn’t have much to work with at Stanford in his first year as a starter last season. His footwork is tremendous in the pocket, but he is firmly a pocket passer. He’ll need to take a step forward with his decision-making to get into the first-round conversation, but he has the talent to do so.

13. Philadelphia Eagles: Edge Nolan Smith, Georgia

Smith was the former No. 1 overall recruit in the 2019 class over Kayvon Thibodeaux. You see that high-end athleticism on tape consistently. He still needs to add some weight and add some moves as a pass-rusher, but he’s got elite tools.

17. Miami Dolphins: CB Kelee Ringo, Georgia

Yet another 2020 five-star. Ringo was impressive in his first year as a starter for the Bulldogs in 2021. He’s got 4.3 speed at 6-foot-2, 205 pounds. His pick-six in the National Championship Game sealed the win for Georgia.

24. Dallas Cowboys: CB Eli Ricks, Alabama

Ricks did the unthinkable this offseason by transferring from LSU to Alabama. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound corner earned an 85.6 coverage grade as a true freshman in 2020 before a shoulder injury cut his sophomore season short.

Also, look for McKee to play a while today in order for the coaches to get a good look at their WR depth.

That's not remotely true..Tanner still needs to get real reps in and he'll sit the last preseason game. That will be all McCord and Thompson. There is NO way the Eagles trade Tanner

this season, IF anything were to happen to Hurts he is the guy. Thompson is a camp body who ends up on PS or released.

Hadn't pitched for a few days, so want to keep him in a groove. RPs used to pitching 3-4 times a week.

Plus, good situation to throw some pitches he has less confidence in, low pressure situation.

Yeah I knew he was ok before I saw the injury. But the seriousness of the cart used to bring him off gives me worry even knowing there is no fx. I hope he still has a foot.

It's the little siren at the top that confirms a serious injury. Also the Verizon cart is only used for critical stuff otherwise they take the T Mobile one

Yours, his, or both?

I only reported the events as I observed them. I made no statement about his injury.

Old fashioned bullpen cart.

Doing it in practice is different from a real NFL game, let alone going into the playoffs cold. Pickett was an insurance policy while they invested in McKee to develop him. Generally, the Eagles overinvest at the QB position. It has served them well over the years.

Might as well. The Super Bowl experience in person isn't for the average fan anyway, might as well make it a real destination. Way better than Minnesota in Feb... or Jacksonville for that matter.

Tanner McKee is so good, he can play today and call the Phillies game at the same time.

Sure, this would make sense, if Pickett was actually any good.
