Sure, this would make sense, if Pickett was actually any good.

He did the job he had to do when called upon.

Yes. When the backup QB leads the team to 33 points and held the ball for 36 minutes, that should be enough to win the game, especially if your defense is supposed to be really good at stopping the opponent from scoring. The defense surrendered 36 points.

Pickett was not good in that game dude. We beat Washington if McKee plays. You'll never convince me otherwise.

There was a bit on SiriusXM this week about Tanner McKee and why a guy who now looks so good falls in the draft at such an important position. It was an interesting discussion about evaluating QBs who play in systems without good WRs who can separate/legit OLs and the importance of watching tape to look at his placement and timing instead of just relying on the numbers. It's really a testament to a good detail oriented scouting department to move up and grab a guy like McKee who was really pedestrian by the numbers.

Here's hoping that applies to McCord as well over the next few years.

He had a bad 2022 season (I recall he had 13 TDs to 8INTs).

But I still think the obsession with QB running was just as big a reason.

I didn't say he was good, I said 33 points and 36 minutes of possession should win. The defense surrendered 36 points, 5 TD drives. That's why they lost. You expect your backup QB to not lose the game for you. He didn't. The defense let Washington march all over them when they needed stops.

He's probably as good as most other NFL backup QBs. T. McKee is I think the exception.

So you don't think we win that game if McKee had played?

That’s the game where Gardner-Johnson was tossed from the game and the D turned into a sieve..

We beat Washington if Smith caught a pass he would normally catch at least 99 out of 100 times.

Fair, but Pickett still kinda sucked irrespective of that. He's not the only reason why we lost, but I have little doubt that McKee would've played better and brought home the win, making the Smith drop irrelevant.

Is this not an abuse of this? He isn't actually injured. Just holding in.

Since it would have been his very first regular season action, I think its impossible to know for certain. He did play very well the following week against Dallas, but let's be honest. Washington was a much tougher opponent than Dallas was, especially at that point in the season. I know you are convinced. I'm just not sure. McKee also looked very good against the Giants in the finale, but again... that was another team, like Dallas, that was just playing out the string and looking for a soft spot to lay down.

Hmm, alright, it's possible I'm just overestimating how good McKee is, but I really do feel like a win would've been a forgone conclusion had he played instead of Pickett. Thankfully it didn't matter in the end.

Also, look for McKee to play a while today in order for the coaches to get a good look at their WR depth.

I don’t think he’ll play that much. The joint practices were all 1st and 2nd team with no real team reps for the other guys. I think McKee plays like a quarter and the other guys get the rest.

The team said he had an ankle injury. Even if it’s not true I don’t see the "abuse”. He counted as a number on the roster the entire time. There was no benefit for the team.

Not in local markets. But looks like my YouTube TV guide was wrong again. Think I'm ok.

Why hasn’t this started yet?

My assessment of the Defense in that game was that the Defense held the Commanders’ RBs to just 32 yards, but Jaden Daniels was able to exploit gaps in the Eagles’ Defensive Front for 81 yards, almost all of which moved the chains at crucial moments. I believe Fangio learned from that and made adjustments in how he used/deployed his light box in the remaining games of the season … especially the Super Bowl.
