Feels like Howie should have ponied up the ~$5M to sign a Johnathan Jones or a similar player. Ringo was always going to be battling to be an okay starter at best. And Adoree was available for the minimum for a reason. This is the one spot they probably were too complacent with.

I thought Adoree would be a KR. We still have no dynamic returner in punts or kickoffs. Blind spot for this team.

Anyone that wants to help with the hype video. If you have videos of the Eagles or any of their players or moves or coaching decisions being attacked before, during and after the 2024 season Super Bowl run then please submit as I might use some of those for this video.

Keeping Rodgers or signing Jaire were the moves, but hoping their lack of aggressiveness there isn’t in error.

I think the opener will be a lot closer than the -7 line says it will be. Whether Dickerson plays or not I think the oline and the offense will be pretty shaky in the 1st half at least. I think the defense will be a real scare all game with Pickens or whoever lines up on CB2 all game. Also love what I see out of Makuba but recent podcasts have me worried about his ability to defense tight ends and we saw that at the start of this game too. I think Dallas tries to exploit that. I would think Eagles would gameplan to instead of DeJean on top end TEs if they are better than what the team could be lining up at nickel WR. I think we will see DeJean move all over the formation this year. Darkhorse DPOY candidate.

Ringo starts with Bennett breathing down his neck. Jackson cut.

Bennett or McWilliams.

So what do you do opening night? Quinyon follow CeeDee or keep him on one side and whoever is CB 2 just roll safety help to him every play and leave Quinyon on an island against whoever? Or just try to play it normal like whoever CB2 is won't be a major liability? I feel like they will go the latter but they should go in the former but then over the season try to transition into the latter.

He's going to be a Day 1 starter. No doubt about it. He might give up a play here or there because he's a little behind given his missed time... but if he can create turnovers, its worth it. He can learn on the job in the meantime.

Someone made a comment earlier that he

Might come out on clear running play downs. Brown makes a lot of sense in those down and distance situations.

I saw one play where McCollum made a very nice play/tackle on a screen. How did he and Sam and Hook look?

Given the improvement of NFL punters in recent years, I’m not sure there is a lot of dynamic punt return opportunities each week across the 16 games. It has become more and more a " take the few available yards, and don’t fumble” job.

I expect Fangio to deploy Quarters with the Boundary CBs matching up with the outside WRs with Q following Lamb unless Lamb moves inside to the slot. In that case Lamb will more than likely be running his pattern in DeJean’s zone.

You can't find a high res quality image of this on the internet anymore. Very odd and sad. Great picture.

I don't think they will go Quarter when our weakness is our secondary despite great players in Quinyon, DeJean and a very good player in Blankenship. Our strength is oddly LB along with DT. Unless offenses spread us out with 4 WR, which they might, which as you point out in your strategy they should, I think we will try get as many LBs on the field as we can especially with Baun and Jihad. I think our strategy early on will be stick Quinyon on their best guy outside, move DeJean all over the place depending on the matchup so they don't know what is going on and then double up on coverage for CB2 on their 2nd option. At least that's what I think and I could be wrong. Can't really question Vangio with whatever he tries early on when he might be the best DC this franchise as seen.

Exactly this.

Let's come back to this after the game.

Mix in Brown on run downs and let Vic do his thing with the versatile LBs/edges and there is our "basic" defense.

Mukuba won't be coming off the field in run downs. He is awesome attacking downhill against the run. If you see him getting run over a few times, fine. But that's silly bias for the many people who weren't thrilled with that pick fit some reason. If the Eagles thought his size was such an issue that he had to come off the field in run downs they wouldn't have drafted him. That's crazy.

Could be wrong but feels like Mukuba>Brown, Campbell>Trotter, Bennett (for better or worse but progressing)>Ringo/Adoree, (pass rush) Ojulari>Uche, my mother>DTR/McCord.

Adoree will happily give up 5-8 yards per catch.

Not an inspiring week by any means. Howie might need to shake some trees.

This one is good enough for me—my memory is high res enough.

Also curious what cigar he chose for the celebration.

He's a nickel corner. Bennett has looked good today as well.

  • In 2024 he played 88.9% of his snaps outside (PFF).

  • Across his career he’s logged nearly 3,000 snaps outside vs only ~40 in the slot.

Bennett is a bit stiff like Ringo. It's outside or nothing. Ringo is getting the first crack. Can always tell Bennett he needs more experience in the system before starting. Bennett missed a read on a crossing route yesterday.

Road tripping with the family and made stops in Cleveland and Erie yesterday as we make our way to Niagara Falls (my 10 year old has wanted to see it for a long time). Watched the first half and the opening five minutes of the second half…

— DTR is hilarious

— CB2 is a mess

— Jihaad Cambell!

— Andrew Mukuba!

— Maybe I missed it while fast forwarding through some of the game. Why did DTR start the second half when McCord played the final drive of the first half?

— Our backup OL stinks

— Thank god I didn’t waste three hours watching it live.

Oh, and Dillion Gabriel looked pretty good despite that horrendous pick 6.

I was just in Niagara Falls in late June. Did you guys get the adventure passes? Very worth it. Save a lot of money on a bunch of the main attractions.

My favorite of all things was probably the Power Station at night.

I think the plan with the QBs was probably to switch by quarter. Or maybe they went drive by drive in the 2nd half.

No one is stiff like Ringo. Let Bennett learn on the job, same as Mukuba. There will be an occasional missed assignment due to a lack of experience in the system, but Ringo's experience in the system hasn't helped him make a single play on a ball like Bennett did yesterday. Bennett is better. No need to shield anyone from that truth. Why tell Bennett that he needs more experience, when even without it, he's clearly the better option?

They were rotating the QBs pretty much the entire game.
