They were rotating the QBs pretty much the entire game.

Lol. Knowing how bad the offense was beforehand I guess I wasn’t paying attention.

What’s up, guys? I’ve been quiet on here lately. The truth is, I’ve been going through a rough stretch with my mental health. I wasn’t sure whether to say anything, but with June being Men’s Mental He

So I re-watched the game and...just kidding I did not re-watch that game. Anyway I mentally replayed a few plays and concluded that preseason sucks and is meaningless. It was nice to see Mukuba and Campbell look good. There are backup concerns and CB2 but that's still an enviable position to be in compared to most other teams

Road tripping with the family and made stops in Cleveland and Erie yesterday as we make our way to Niagara Falls (my 10 year old has wanted to see it for a long time).

Not sure if you've been to Niagara before or not, but the Canadian side offers great views of the Falls at night when they are all lit up.

There is a great butterfly conservatory a few miles from the Falls on the Canadian side, as well.

Maid of the Mist is an absolute MUST do. Cave of the Winds and Journey Behind the Falls are sort of just meh... but they do get you extremely close to the Falls and you can literally feel the power of the water.

Also let me add that while I thought they could have kept Isaiah Rodgers I'm not sure he would have looked like a mistake free shutdown corner in these games either. fwiw Cooper DeJean came back and didn't actually look that good in preseason game 3 last year. These games are all we have to go on now but they really aren't the best indicator of success historically

And they gained virtually no information along the WR battle due to the poor OL and QB play, at least not in terms of completion of the play. They can evaluate the routes they ran, etc. But, as important as that is, the end of the play... catching the ball and getting YAC matters as much, if not more. Because if you run a perfect route and stone hands the ball dropping it... what good is the perfect route?

There’s a lot they can learn, or at least confirm, even with the poor OL and QB play. Did they run the route, time it right, take the right angle, get off the jam, run a legal pick, and so on. Do they compete? Coaches evaluate differently and for different things than we do, at least in the preseason.

It's preseason, where bad teams garner false hope and good teams hope to get through unscathed.

Yes, CB2 and OL depth and DL depth are concerns, that's what happens when you're a good team, they lost Sweat, Graham and Williams off the DL, Burks at LB and Slay, Rodgers and CJGJ in the secondary. Becton off the OL

It's not just the next man up, it's the guy behind him having to step up.

But Howie remembers 2017 when he overpaid the veterans to avoid this. They got old and expensive and he had to blow things up.

They've added a bunch of young players and even more next draft. Campbell, Mukuba, Robinson, Mondon, McWilliams on defense. Kendall, Cooper on offense.

He's cleared out a lot of dead money (when you win a SB, you don't complain about dead money) and will clear out more to make room for Carter's extension, etc.

You got a core of young veterans to anchor the team, a top defensive DC, an OC who at least gives you continuity.

LB is deep and athletic, the OL is back, RB is deep, WR is deep, DL is solid 5 starters. CB2 is probably the weakest spot of the 22. But Fangio knows how to protect a weak spot.

Slay was declining last season but they still had the #1 defense with him starting, there's a dropoff but not sure how much.

They're vulnerable to injuries, but the bye comes at 9 weeks, which means when they return, rookies won't be "rookies" anymore and better situated to fill in for injuries.

The first four games is probably the toughest stretch of the season, after that, barring a string of injuries, they should have a good run.

Keeping Avery Williams seems like a waste but I'm not sure I fully trust Smith as a PR if he's the guy. The KR looked terrible yesterday and that will be a bigger part of the game but again the ST unit was not the real one

I never thought someone would make me miss Britain Covey. Williams is doing a good job.

Well at least Defense got a Pick 6 and fumble. Outside of that, nothing to write home about. Browns also did have a good practice against us. Let's finish out the preseason healthy and get ready for Banner Week. LOL @ the Jets again. I remember in 2009, I went to the last Preseason game for the Eagles and it was in New York with the Jets. Vick played for the 1st time that game and Donovan was there on the sidelines. We lost the game but I was on a date with a Jets fan at the time, she was happy with the win, lol.

Jets 38-27 Eagles (Sep 3, 2009) Final Score - ESPN

Game summary of the New York Jets vs. Philadelphia Eagles NFL game, final score 38-27, from September 3, 2009 on ESPN.

Eagles 4 best players yesterday were 4 of their first 5 picks in the draft. Campbell, Mukuba, TyRob, Mondon.

If Howie keeps drafting well, the Eagles will keep extending their window.

Kendall looked competent and both C and LG. Seems like they are hoping to have him and Pryor be OL6 and OL7 on gameday.

I would like NOT to see TOTH ever snap a ball when we need to win a game.

I have the perfect spot for Toth. Make a second mascot and he can wear the costume for home games.

They have this culture of excellence in all things... and they also have Toth.

You can't be great with the greatness of others... if you are Toth.

Imma say it again- preseason is worthless. Go to 18 games and be done with it.

I actually like Williams more than I thought I would. He at least looks like he knows what he’s doing back there and can field a ball properly. I definitely don’t trust Smith to make the routine, smart play back there.

I suspect the PR will be either Dotson or Ainias Smith. For KOR, I expect they may use Dillion or Shipley, maybe Darius Cooper. Or they may use someone from the PS. The NFL has turned the KOR into pretty much a running back type play. Can’t see Williams making the team. I am hoping next week we see Shedruck Powell with some returns.

I found it very odd that BVS returned a kick and Ainias Smith was the up man. I know the kicker can kick to either side, but they should be lined up so the primary returner is always the option. Our LB turned FB should not be returning a kick with the slot WR leading the way (which he didn't touch a single player btw).

I think there is an overreaction to CB2. Let’s take the completion Ringo gave up on the pick play. In zone, Ringo would have traded receivers and taken the pick man. Part of that comes with communication, a hallmark of Parker’s secondary. We are watching a lot of Man in the PS.

Oh and Mukuba’s pick six, pretty sure when I watch the All22 that he pushes the receiver in the back to get position. Might have been DPI. I would note that appears to be a bad play by the Browns with two receivers in the same area unless it was supposed to be a bit of a pick.

Not a fan of Jackson’s cushion.

Your last point is what I question the most. Why is Adoree Jackson so far off the WR seemingly every play? Is it the alignment they are in? Is it the way he plays? He seems so slow to close on the ball then too. I want nothing to do with him on the roster come Week 1.

Maybe I'm blind because he's still raw and young, but I don't want to give up on Ringo yet. I still think he would be better off at safety. He just looks so damn stiff. But how much more time can they invest him him? McWilliams and Bennett deserve PT. I don't think it's out of the question to see both Jackson and Ringo off the team. Jackson being released and Ringo being dealt to a team who wants to gamble on what they think he could be. Could there be a reverse Raiders trade where they trade Ringo for Edge or DT depth?

The pick 6 was a great play, but to your point, he had his hands on the WR and the TE completely alligatored the pass. Should have been an easy completion to the TE. Not taking away from Makuba making the play on the ball and then taking it in, but that play was entirely on the TE. Happy to see Makuba take advantage though. You have to be i the right place to make plays and he was.

Howie has been lurking. I don't think it'll happen though.

Did APR play at all yesterday? I didn't notice him once. I know he was a 7th round pick, but I thought for sure he was going to be a diamond in the rough. He flashed a little bit against the Bengals, but man talk about a ghost out there. Maybe he gets a hangnail IR designation. Disappointed to say the least.

As good as he looks in the preseason, I don't want Patrick Johnson on the 53. Bring him back to the PS, but he's not a main roster guy. He's terrific at flashing against backups, but I never see him flash on ST, which is where he needs to shine during the season.

Edge is going to be Nolan Smith, Jaylx Hunt, Josh Uche And Azeez Ojulari with Ogbo Okoronkwo not making the initial 53 but being brought back so his so contract isn't guaranteed. A lot will depend on if there is a move to be made via trade or a veteran being available after cut downs.

Toth is G3. Accept it. He’s a good player there. He’s C3. That should not be a problem.
