I can’t imagine anyone trading for a UDFA guy before he plays a real game

At this point we really should just create a "BREAKING: Eagles trade for underperforming early round pick from a major college program for late round pick swap" thread

Typical Hurts WR3

Have to keep Cooper. Smith can go and maybe wilson goes to PS but no spot for him either

Dotson and two 2nds for Hendrickson

Hendrickson is 30 years old, and in need of a big contract. I feel like the price will not be astronomical to get him. The contract of course, would be the tough part. Its not as though at his age he gives you the option to pivot and not extend Nolan Smith (given his possible injury prone label). It has to be structured in a way that allows you to keep the young guys.

Reid traded for Hank Baskett before he ever played a real game, so you never know

It was an uncalled OPI, defender had both his hands on his back pulling him down limiting his ability to extend, should have been called but we all know that game was fixed from the start.

Metchie trade makes sense because this team lacked WR depth. Its been dangerous for a while now, and we have been lucky.

Even once they traded for Dotson, hes WR3. Theres still no depth.

This year, we all like Cooper. But hes unproven and we still have no proven depth.

Regardless if Cooper stays or goes, Metchie is a good move that makes sense.

Now, WR5 is very interesting. Cooper and even Smith played well. Johnny Wilson had a nice game, but did have another drop in that game which cant be overlooked. His biggest issue is his lack of hands. He needs to try to convert to TE where we can use his blocking more than his hands.

Unfortunate for guys like Terrace Marshall who started camp hot and then got injured. He did nothing to impress yesterday. And Elijah Cooks who maybe was having an even better camp than Cooper, but also got injured.

We almost had a whole bunch of options. And yet, they were all unproven, or proven disappointments. Metchie makes sense. Now let the chips fall where they may.

Bengals reportedly want a young D player plus picks for him too, so you probably are giving up Smith or someone similar.

They apparently want a defensive player or two and picks for him. Don’t know what defensive players the Eagles could give up. They obviously are not giving up Hunt or Nolan. Not much else to trade from on defense unless they want one of our linebackers. On offense not much to trade either unless they want Shipley or Steen or something.

Discussion by who?

Blankenship I thought was in the box more than CJGJ?

Either way I cant imagine theyll be too many times Blank is on the sideline while makuba and Brown are the 2 safeties, unless hes hurt

Nope, Blankenship stayed high more than CJGJ. I think you are defining high more so than free or weak versus strong. He is best playing downhill where his speed isn’t exposed but his instincts are a bonus. But high isn’t the same as Free (really weak side) v Strong (side).

I posited and I stand by it that Mukuba wasn’t drafted to replaced CJGJ but rather as a possible replacement for Reed. I think the team likes Sydney more than the majority of the Blog.

Did that first season accrue when Metchie was fighting off cancer (i.e., will he be an UFA after this season or a RFA?)?

I just got back from a 4,500 mile drive from California to Colorado and then back to California through Southern Idaho, Eastern Oregon, Eastern Washington, and Central Oregon.

Much to our surprise we saw a waterfall that is 45 get taller than Niagara, and 1,000 feet wide (considerably less than Niagara, but impressive nonetheless).

Craters of the Moon when in Southern Idaho. One of my favorites.

My reaction as well although Harrison Bryant and a former Texan fifth for a former Eagles sixth is pretty low cost, Melchie has been a bit of a disappointment.

I looked into it. I’m pretty sure he’ll be a RFA because he was on the NFI list so it didn’t accrue.

The cost certainly explains a lot of it. I still don’t know how much value or use there is in another WR down the depth chart that doesn’t play ST’s and likely won’t have enough time to learn the playbook, grow a rapport with Hurts and be used barely at all.

Preseason WR results mean little. Wilson has had bad hands forever. That’s not changing but can get a little better with work. Hard to tell with Smith and Cooper. I mean cooper looks good to me but I’m not sure what that translates to

The Eagles once traded for UDFA Hank Baskett during his rookie training camp. I remember overhearing a random dude at a Phillies game that summer telling his buddy that it was the greatest trade in history!!

If Smith gets cut is anyone claiming him? Doubt it.

Probably not. I’m not sure anyone is claiming Cooper either. He had one good preseason game.

I think a team will claim Cooper.

He’s at least shown enough to think he could actually be an NFL player. Smith has not.

If we are not hanging with Mr. Cooper, I do not know anymore...
