Yup. He didn’t earn an accrued season but his contract also didn’t toll, is how I understand it.

He originally posted that he’d be a UFA. I asked him if that was true based on missing his rookie year on the NFI. He updated his tweet.

Lol, it's not hyperbole at all if you pay attention to the team even a little bit.

He played 369 regular season snaps last season. About 25% of them in two games, one of them being the last game of the season when he had 65. Barely saw the field in the playoffs. Like I said, he doesn't play enough to earn that title. I think the slim reaper is our best blocking WR. Shows out every game in that area.

Dean’s injury history should be considered if they want to resign him. He played well last year, but he seems expendable under the current circumstances.

I wouldn't say expendable yet. He was the play caller for the best D last season and played very well.

Agreed that expendable might be a bit premature. Let’s see how he returns from a physical standpoint.

Rob Manfred is actually going to blow up the MLB.

I know it's radical but I actually love this. Its very low risk for a potentially very high reward.

The LB depth is something we aren't used to as Eagles fans. Dean is on PUP to start the season, but by the time he's healthy, they are going to have to roster 5 LB on the 53. Lance Dixon has impressed and should be on the PS.

2025: Zack Baun, Jihaad Campbell, Jeremiah Trotter Jr., Smael Mondon, Nakobe Dean.

Baun and Campbell are the starters. Trotter and Mondon backups. Where does Dean fit when he comes off the PUP? Trotter and Mondon are going to be core ST players this season and potentially packages on D. Do the Eagles mess with the chemistry on the field to try to get Dean back on the field? Dean hasn't played much on ST since his rookie year. I don't doubt that Dean would say I'll play wherever you need me. Of course there are other factors that could come in to play for the others such as injuries or not playing up to expectations.

Things to consider. I think Baun's contract is essentially a 2-year deal. He has a $14 million option bonus before 2027, so 2026 might be his last year here. If Dean is healthy, do the Eagles sign him to a 3/4-year extension with the intent he takes over for Baun after next year? I don't think Dean would do that if he can start next year somewhere else. That shifts things to Trotter Jr. and Mondon. Do one of those two step and show they are a starter to move forward with next to Campbell?

The timing of the injury was a total gamechanger for Deans future with the Eagles. Would the Eagles have taken Campbell if Dean never gets injured? It's a total bummer because Dean was coming in to his own and showing that he can play in the NFL and he looked like the Alpha dog we saw at UGA.

One of the more interesting things to watch as the season rolls on.

That actually won't be nearly as effective as you think. There will always be a delay between where the ball is when the player is "down", or forward progress is stopped and where the ball is when the whistle blows... every. single. time.

The system needs some tweaking... for the end zone that's fairly simple... just have a buzzer go off when the ball crosses the plane of the end zone, if the buzzer beats the whistle, TD, but close plays will still need to be reviewed. For example, Dotson's first catch in the Super Bowl was never ruled down until after the ball crossed the plane, but he was clearly down well short of the goal line.

Yeah, there will be the delay after the whistle and where they actually spot it, but it shouldn't be relied on for every play. Tie it to the clock and whistle, the booth reviews, they can look quickly, spot it, and move on. They would know exactly where the ball is at any given time.

The NFL is going to use cameras to essentially map out the 1st down marker and humans will still spot the ball. The 1st year of them doing this should be interesting, but I expect them to expand it to other parts of the game over the years.

I'm hoping for the best for him but don't think I'll get what I want. He was so good last season, guys rarely looked out if position, he attacked the LOS so effectively, was fast to the ball, played the pass well enough. He was fun to watch.

And the joy for the NFL is other sports have done a lot of the donkey work to iron out bugs, issues etc. It'll take some time to get fully adjusted to the process, but I don't see many issues longer term.

I just don’t know if he’ll be the same when he comes back. Not just because of this recent injury, but his bad luck with injuries. It takes a toll on the mind as well and some guys have that stigma of always getting hurt. Another downside for him, not so much for the Eagles D., is that we finally have some really talented Linebackers. If the young guys pan out, I don’t see him here anymore.

Its awesome reading the quotes from the rookie LBs in that article. They sound like theyve already been programmed perfectly. They answer questions the way youd expect a 3 year vet in Sirianni's system to answer.

Campbell talking about stacking days, and appreciating his OL for doing what they did to allow him to get that sack.

Mondon saying he loves seeing anyone make the play because they all started in the same place and he knows what theyve done to get there.

Its really insane.

It also reminds me of some things Dotson has said in press conferences. A recent 1st round pick still under his rookie contract comes here and gets next to no targets at all. And hes already completely fine with that. Its kind of insane.

Couldnt ever imagine an entire team being so selfless like this one is.

Being able to successfully lead and align a group of well-paid athletes, who have been lauded most of their lives, is a rare skill.

They just came out with study thar showed 55% of NFL players never play in the league again after tearing their quad. Came right out after the Slater tear. The atrophy on the quad is so hard to recover from.

Winning goes a long way

Vic said Nolan tweaked his shoulder. Not good and counting on Nolan injury free for the season is too risky. Howie needs to pull the trigger on a bonafide edge. Doesn't have to be Hendrickson or a pro bowler but you have to address it with a quality player.

Its not really the atrophy. That occurs in every major knee injury. ACL, Meniscus... Part of the criteria for coming back from any of those injuries is to get the quad back to equal circumference of the unaffected side. It basically always happens or else no one would ever return to play from knee surgeries.

Its more so regaining the same power. It has less to do with muscle size, and more to do with neuromuscular connections. Motor unit recruitment.
