Jackson winning CB2 because Kelee Ringo completely blew it is the worst way the position could be won. I don't think Adoree Jackson is a starting caliber NFL CB at this point. Kinda worrisome that it's reached this point. Still moves that could be made, but yikes.

I refuse to believe that they will go into the season with Adore Jackson as their starting CB2. Ringo is pretty much done here if he can't beat him out.

True, but a) I don't know if he'd have been at Stanford if he had a subpar brain and b) I'm not sure you'd consider Stanford a major college football program on the level of an SEC or Ohio State/Michigan program.

Perhaps I am a prisoner of my past. Back in the day, not even that long ago, Stanford was a big time college program, and yes, it has always been a school for smart players.

But, I'm not sure why the fact that he has a brain is a knock on him... or are you knocking athletic QBs as not being smart?

We somehow rank with the least.

As more time passes with no real moves for CB2, I think they will just roll with Ringo/Bennett for week 1-2, and then bring in a vet after to avoid the guarantees.

Adoree offers no upside. He is what he is and he's not presumed to get any better than he currently is. Theoretically, Ringo/Bennett have some upside of possibility getting better with more reps. Vic will roll coverage to that side and leave Q on an island. CB2 will have help, but somebody needs to step up. I don't think that someone will be on the team until week 2.

Based on the last two days Ringo is done.

I do not adore the Jackson pick for CB2.

And don't count on Kelee as a Ringer-o to win the job so easily either.

Jackson is the only veteran CB on the roster with actual game experience though.

I don't think the plan was to ever have him start, only to sit behind Mitchell and Ringo and be ready in case something happened. But Ringo can't take the job and we still need some veteran depth.

Bennett's gonna be the guy week one and hopefully he picks things up quick. Ringo's done here if he can't get on the field after all this time. Jackson will be done too and we'll be flipping the CB depth chart next offseason.

I think it's going to be Adoree. Tomorrow is the last day of TC and he's been getting the bulk of first team reps throughout camp and it's been increased the last week or so. I don't see it being Vic's style to waste reps on Jackson if he didn't plan on him being the starter. He said it's important to get his guys playing together, and that's what he's been doing recently.

I don't think it's a good option and certainly not inspiring. But I think we are past the point where they wouldn't being wasting all these reps on Adoree Jackson. Maybe the hope is Bennett eventually surpasses him similar to DeJean and Maddox of last year, but I think to start the season it's going to be Jackson.

In a passing league Howie put them in a bad spot. I'm not sure how they could have misread the Ringo situation so poorly unless he once again didn't chat with Vic which seems to be the pattern.

Bennett will take the starting job once Vic is confident or if jackson gets roasted

If he doesn't start I'm not sure why they should keep him on the team.

Because he's so Adoree-able.

That's what I'm hoping. It's hardly a surprise that Bennett is up not to speed after being here what, a week? Friday night will be interesting.

Thanks Aaron, who TF is Chance Campbell. Even us fairly savvy football message board guys need some help here.

A 6th round pick of the Titans in 2022. Played at Ole Miss. Has been injured multiple times.

I know it's just a workout, but LB is the last place the Eagles need to workout guys right now.

It’s not a need.

Special teams? I don't know if they will give a roster spot if all he can really do is special teams.

43 year old Tim Brady wins a SB, but sure you need to run 4.5 and have a missile launcher of an arm to be a great QB.

QB scouting has been, is, and will continue to be broken.

Teams overdraft QBs in the 1st round because it's a lottery spin as QB salaries go higher and higher. If you hit on a QB who starts in Year 1 or 2 it's like hitting the jackpot in a league with a hard salary cap. Jalen Hurts became proof-positive that the only thing better than hitting on a starting QB in the 1st round is hitting on one outside the first round later in the draft.

As far as physical traits, the prerequisites of the position have changed. EDGE rushers are faster now with greater bend, and most defensive coordinators prioritize disrupting the QB over finding shutdown players in the secondary. The QB now has to be able to move in addition to processing their reads quickly. If the play breaks down nowadays it's pretty much dead for the prototypical pocket passer. Having a dual-threat QB adds optionality to operate off-script plays.

Of course, it has to be a happy medium. Prospect evaluators err too much confusing a running QB with a true dual-threat QB. Richardson, for example, was never able to distribute the ball in the passing game -- yet, even in his first year at Florida there were posters in here singing his praise and salivating over him. He's never learned the position, and the Colts compounded a poor draft pick by starting him Week 1 of his rookie season (that, I'm pretty sure, was Irsay's decision).

Adoree Jackson got exclusive first team reps opposite Quinyon today. This a day after taking most of the first team reps. Starting to seem like Vic is settling on him as the starter.

Or getting the answer that he isn’t the answer. It could go either way.

I'd prefer Ricks honestly if he isn't starting. That's just me.

Ricks sure does have some kind of fan club for a guy who has never done anything in the NFL.
