The 4 added players make the team better on the margins and only Booker could have made the team there and it would have been at the expense of another DT who they will now keep

He may have been. But I dont think so. Just because the traded for a QB doesnt mean his rationale was right. Which was the silly part to me.

I dont think they make a move like that because of McKee's week 1 availability. I think itd have to indicate a longer absence, OR, they are planning for life after a McKee trade. I think both of those reasons make much more sense.

No they dont

Someone put Howie to bed. The mad man is on crack behind the wheel.

I assumed he had a spot already so it only helps clear a spot for someone else.

Keegan?

What's next? Britt Covey for an 8?

It’s not a big deal but they could have done everything you said and just signed Johnson instead of a 33 year old guy coming off back surgery in Lamm.

That sounds logical except that a healthy Lamm is better than Johnson. That didn’t prove out. So they traded a Mr Irrelevant pick for a guy who knows the plays and has played just OK in the past. Big woo.

Surely a team doesnt trade a 5th round pick because they need a better backup QB for 1 week. Sorry, that makes no sense. I trust Howie has more logical reasons than that ESP tweet.

Toth tries to play every position too. But yeah if it were me Fred, Pryor & Kendall are my main 3. Maybe keep Hinton to groom if you think you'll lose him but not sure you would

Maybe Kendall replaces him inside so they didn't think they needed him

No clue. Maybe Cam Williams. Maybe a different position group entirely.

I think Vikings end up being one of the top teams in the NFC.

I think the Vikings may not reach .500

I'd like to pat myself on the back for saying get ready for lots of trades since they are last on the claim list. I don't think he's done yet either.

Beyond the harder to get needs like CB or DE I think a likely move could be for a PR. I'm not against using DeJean if they have to but obviously you'd like to have someone else and that seems like an attainable goal

Williams would be my guess as well

I think mccarthy will surprise people.

Can you quantify that with wins and a ballpark stats projection?

Are you talking starting in Philly in late January?

Are you talking 9-8 or 10-7?

I doubt it, much as it grieves .

I think the Vikings could have a regression year and the Eagles should be damn good again, so swapping a 5th(and 7th) for a 6th probably doesn't drop them down that far. Maybe half a round from the 5th to 6th. And I assume Howie will be able to recoup some of these picks one way or another. McKee will fetch a 2nd+ within the next year.

I think they're still really well off, but would be even more so if they kept Fred and Rodgers to begin with and possibly CJGJ and could've used that 2nd on a pass rusher instead of a safety. Oh well, it's over and done with now.

I still don't think Howie is done. Edge and OT were the moves to look out for. OT down, now possibly Edge.

I like the Vikes this year. They were strong last year and made some nice moves this off-season. Strengthened both of the lines, improved the run game (Mason is a nice addition), extended some important free agents. JJ is a question but Darnold was not the answer. They will be strong in my opinion.

You better watch it before he trades a 7th round pick for a 7th round pick.

We traded away Brock Purdy?!

Precisely why Howie is putting in the OT today thru the rest of the week. I don't think the NFL has seen anything like him since Jimmy Johnson back in the 90's.

The Eagles once traded a scrub quarterback to the Browns (I think) for a future 8th round pick. The next year the league reduce the draft from 8 rounds to 7 so they ended up getting nothing at all. It felt unfair.

Was that scrub QB Brad Goebel?

Like all the moves when taking a holistic look. We got better without giving up much.
