KVon Wallace is released.

He stinks. But is he better than McCollum?

Perhaps second most talent. It is the team aspect that I’m questioning. Talent is individual. Team is collective. They could surprise me.

Well they it's not like this was all hastily thrown together. They have been a team for awhile and have a great coach. It realpy comes down to the QB but I think by the the end of the season McCarthy will prove to be an upgrade over Darnold.

I don't know about that. Talent gap isn't that wide on offense meanwhile the Vikings have a more talented defense.

Also they lost their DC as well and we saw how that screwed us after 2022 when we lost both the OC and DC at the same time.

Nate Sudfeld released after a short TC stint with the 9ers… 9yrs of backup QB money, little wear and tear, SB ring… life is good.

Glad to hear that. I didn’t want the Niners having an un-stoppable QB on their roster.

Fangio seems to like McCollum for some reason

Understood. McCarthy isn’t Hurts, so I’m much less optimistic than you are about them coming together.

Other than that last minute Super Bowl bomb, McCollum has always looked like a competent NFL player. Wallace never really did. So no.

I feel like there was a period of time after leaving here, Wallace was doing some good things. I dont know... I didnt follow him. Just going from what I remember posted in here.

I dont think McCollum is competent though. I was talking him up last time he got to play based on a previous performance, and he burned me.

Oh, poor you.

Fangio seems to like him, which carries some weight with me.

I think McCollum has played OK in short stints.

Thats fine with me too. I never understood the Wallace pick/fit for this defense. Hadnt wanted him back before. But seeing his name this time after maybe having some success elsewhere made me wonder if the eagles want to take another look at him with a competent DC.

Im sure Fangio likes McCollum some, but Im also sure there are other guys in the league he would prefer. We dont know who they are. So while him liking McCollum certainly carries weight, it also only illuminates a miniscule part of the picture as it relates to the entire landscape of the NFL and all the safeties on rosters across the league.

I think I agree with most of this. Except maybe Young. He kinda sucks but a lot of guys have him making the team and I’m not sure why. Some think Dillon gets cut and re-signed but Berman has him making it. Keegan is interesting because many have him making it but he’s shown absolutely nothing and doesn’t seem to have a ton of upside. I could see the Eagles signing or claiming someone and cutting him later.

Who is returning punts on this roster? Kempski had Dillon and Keegan off and the team keeping Ainais Smith and Ryland-Powell. I think that's more likely although I wish they would look to add a returner instead of keeping Smith. I would rather they bring back Covey.

The beats have a contest on the 53. They seem to get to change their guesses every day. Not sure how that works.

I think it's like mock drafts - the rubber hits the road at some point, e.g., the final Final FINAL 53-man (or woman) roster projection.

They have one final submission and I think they all have to publish it today.

That is my bottom-line as well.

Small sample size … and we "value” negatives more than equivalent positives. I had a customer in Nashville who told me, "Your company just frustrates the hell out of me. You do 10 things right then you do one thing wrong and you’re worse off than when you started it.”

I told her, "You sound like an Eagles fan.”

The Detroit Lions have 3 new offensive linemen up the middle: two new guards and a new center. They lost Frank Ragnow, a four-time pro-bowler, who retired. They also lost Kevin Zeitler, who signed with the Titans. To counter this, they're moving Glasgow from LG to Center, and he was their worst offensive lineman last year. They have a rookie at RG, Tate Ratledge. And the guy starting at LG this year was a 6th-round pick last year.

The thing that shocked them was Ragnow's retirement. They lost Zeitler and drafted Ratledge to replace him. But Ragnow retired after the draft and after the free agency period. So, they had little opportunity to replace him.

I mean, things might work out for them, but I have my doubts. And Goff isn't precisely the type of QB that can excel behind a shaky OL.

John McMullen insinuated Eagles are calling around for an edge rusher and not just a backup/role player. Brought up Travon Walker. Don’t think he has any sources but probably has colleagues who do.

Basic human psychology. Negatives have about ten times the impact of positives
