What’s up, guys? I’ve been quiet on here lately. The truth is, I’ve been going through a rough stretch with my mental health. I wasn’t sure whether to say anything, but with June being Men’s Mental He

Freddy J must have really sucked for the Jags. Maybe they run a different scheme or something

He wasn’t exactly a consistent plus for the Eagles last season. Just ask @just relax

Howie talks to everyone all the time, he has multi-universes in his head.

I doubt he'd mortgage the future for one player if their not a young HOF candidate he's comfortable extending. He gave a 1st and 4th for AJ.

More likely to add a young edge with upside at reasonable cost.

I agree Howie is willing to make any deal if it makes the team better. Long term cost is one of those consideration. They will prioritize an extension with Jalen Carter over every other player on the defense. They are not going to trade for an Edge player that will want a deal that impacts that signing. I also think they don't need a starter at Edge.

The Jags picked up Walker's 5th year option and are negotiating a long-term extension with him. He won't be available.

Nolan is injury prone and there’s no one behind Hunt that could replace him, not even close. Best way to mask issues in secondary if CB2 and safety are indeed bandaids is a good pass rush.

Either that or you collect the Comp Pick for the one you don’t extend.

The comp pick is a feature - but small in value in comparison to the likely trade terms and even then not 100% reliable.

Probably Toth, which is why if he gets cut it’s probably an indicator that Dickerson is playing. If neither, then probably Pryor.

Didn't Toth play LG for most of training camp once Dickerson went down? Toth seems most likely no matter how much some hate him. Just keep him away from Center.

It's a bit odd to me how everyone is just assuming they are handing BVS a job?

Who would claim him as a FB?

I thought about it the other day, how much sense it would be to keep him for 5 to 6 plays a game. I think he ultimately makes it for all he does on ST's. You could also use him in a pinch at LB in an emergency. I think they can afford one jack of all trades guy, especially with Covey not on the team.

Hurts coming in at #19 in the top 100

I figure with all the Shanahan influence out there about half the league uses a FB nowadays, maybe that goes up as offenses go after lighter fronts and BVS is more of a known quantity then others.

That's honestly a lot lower than I was expecting but since the voting stopped in November was it? It makes more sense

Joe Giglio (WIP) and his clown takes said he didn’t think Hurts would be in the top 100.

I used to respect the guy to an extent but that era is over.

They can and I understand the logic but it's odd that it's been such a given. He played FB for a few plays in like 8 games before he got hurt and now he's coming off injury

Yep. Hurts has a decent season up until November/December this year easily top 10 next year.

John McMullen insinuated Eagles are calling around for an edge rusher and not just a backup/role player. Brought up Travon Walker. Don’t think he has any sources but probably has colleagues who do.

Brought up Walker as an example but tried to throw cold water on that saying he just used his name as an example of the type of caliber of player. Said they wouldn't bring someone in to the level of a Parsons or Hendrickson. Also mentioned Arnold Ebiketie, someone of that level.

Commies re-sign McLaurin. Take my advice and bet against them early and often this season. And get that cash.

I’m more inclined to think that masking thingie works in reverse in Fangio’s Light Box 4-2-5. The tight/smothering coverage in the Back Seven gives the Front Four time to corral the QB for a sack or pressure him into a suboptimal pass attempt.

Don't understand the McCollum hate. Small college safety with good athleticism, has been decent when he played.

We're talking 4th S here, not the starter.

Cheap, STs, and won't embarrass himself if he has to play.

Kenyon Green waived. No surprise, he's bad.

BVS isn't just a "jack of all trades."
He's a solid blocker at FB, but also is a good route runner with speed to do damage in the open field - I think they want to use him as the "secret weapon" this season.

How often have you seen a 2nd TE or FB make big plays against the Eagles b/c the defense tends to overlook them?

Since he's a good ST player, getting a half dozen plays out of him is a bonus.

Plus, given the league's move to faster, smaller defenses to combat the short passing game, running out of the I with a FB and a power back like Barkley puts a lot of stress on undersized defenses.
