Im really surprised that knowing what DTR was, the eagles didnt give McCord the better pre-season snaps. What a waste it was to give those to DTR.

Maybe that is a strategy to get him to the practice squad, by making it less likely someone else would see enough to want to poach him? It's not like McCord is going to get on the field this year ... the developmental benefit from getting him those reps would be minimal compared to the risk of losing him if he actually flashed.

McCord played better than his stats looked. He didnt have the same opportunities that DTR did even though DTR played with backups too.

McCord definitely made his share of mistakes. But he still flashed potential. Much more so than DTR did.

DTR was definitely more disappointing - I kind of figured he might run around a bit to show some of that rQB ability, but he played it safe a looked like a bad pQB.

Yeah Howie's had his misses but he keeps firing and has had big hits so we move on

Ted Williams was only able to get a hit 4 times out of 10.

They didn't play him in the last game and tell him to look terrible

Sure sign that if an Eagles backup QB plays, they will look like an all pro

He’s right.

You knit what other team comes to mind that would be vulnerable if their starter goes down?

All of them

Except Cleveland. Indy too.

The Saints will still be the Saints if their starter goes down as well

Fair point. It's also true that the Eagles played McKee plenty in pre-season his rookie year, so if it is a strategy, it's a new one.

I think they wanted McCord to be QB #3 and he just wasn't ready. He could develop but I can't see a team spending a spot on 53 for him now

McCord was awful. I don't even want him on the PS.

Im in the develop McCord camp, for the QB factory.

But I do wonder if the eagles prefer to have Sudfeld back as the PS QB.

I just think there is less future value there. I dont think it makes a whole lot of sense to keep 4 QBs around unless one is a developmental guy who might one day be flipped for picks.

Once they decide who the starter is. They haven't the last I knew.

The trade was for the Draft pick. Green was a throw in … with the Texans glad to see him go.

This was the way I always saw it. I met an Eagles fan friend (dedicated diehard guy who’s far from stupid) last month and he was shocked when I suggested that Green may not even make the 53. He had assumed he was pretty much a lock to be a backup guard. I thought he was a borderline guy that they felt was worth a four month look-see.

When the dust clears, the trade with the Texans simply boils down to a straight CJGJ for Metchie swap.

Nolan is injury prone and there’s no one behind Hunt that could replace him, not even close. Best way to mask issues in secondary if CB2 and safety are indeed bandaids is a good pass rush.

I understand the need similarily. I just don't think that means they should trade for a premium player.

I dont think so. Just needed to be paying attention. Not every incompletion was bad. Some were great throws.

But its not just that he had no help. Worse yet, he had weapons out there actively sabotaging his stats.

The INT in the last game was horrible, no doubt.

Im really surprised that knowing what DTR was, the eagles didnt give McCord the better pre-season snaps. What a waste it was to give those to DTR.

He didn't seem terribly accurate to me. He was often behind receivers. His incompletions weren't all drops. His lack of arm strength was apparent. He has a long way to go before he looks playable to me. I am fine with him getting on the practice squad but I don't think that is a given.

I wouldn't mind getting deeper at OLB (who wouldn't) - as it stands, I'm encouraged that Campbell can pick up some slack from the ILB position. Nakobe was adequate, Trot Jr. will likely be adequate if called upon, but he with the stupid first name can really help us out.

Sweet. Good thing it only cost us one of our starting safeties.

I think the Eagles need a separate social media account for football related stuff. Their entire social media team is comprised of Gen Z girls and the content 100% tracks with that. Getting to know the non-football side of players is great, but when it's the majority of the content, that's where I have an issue. You're a football team. Give us football content. I also know it's preseason and it's all about engagement. Clearly there are people who like this.

Eli Ricks waived. A hunch Eagles tried to trade him first.

It's crazy that the Eagles didn't see Thomas R Petersens tweets to make a better decision about Ricks

Who’s our money on for the edge trade?

I'm not wasting a PS spot on McCord. He didn't look good. Nothing about his game made me say it's worth keeping him. I'd be more excited to watch this years crop of college QBs play and try again next year.
