Or hear me out, they could've made a better move with GJ and did the Metchie trade anyway.

GJ was moved for the pick more than anything and Green was a throw in. Still a bad trade given that half of our secondary is a question mark as of now.

I don't think CJGJ endears himself to his team when he's around. I think he was an addition by subtraction move as much as anything. Cut the salary, get rid of any consternation about money with him, and get a decent pick in return. The fact that they then flipped that pick back to get Metchie is fine. CJGJ is a chirper on the field, and he's been a chirper both times he's left here. He also chirped after leaving NO and Detroit. My guess is that a guy that chirps that much when we know about it, also chirps behind closed doors. There's a reason he's been on a revolving door tour the last 5 years he's been in the league. I have zero issue with moving on from him. Absolutely zero.

Im in the develop McCord camp, for the QB factory.

But I do wonder if the eagles prefer to have Sudfeld back as the PS QB.

I just think there is less future value there. I dont think it makes a whole lot of sense to keep 4 QBs around unless one is a developmental guy who might one day be flipped for picks.

Well, wouldn't McKee fit that bill? And it could be argued that maybe even Howell could as well.

Yup. our starting LT was a 7th round pick who never played football before us drafting him and took him a couple years to get on the field. I’d add Jason peters was also a UDFA coming into the league (granted we traded for him after bills helped develop him)

Like with any position, talent can be found in any round and there can be busts in the 1st round. They've had strong Tackles in the past drafted later: Todd Herremans was a 4th round pick. Jon Runyan was signed as a free agent, but was originally a 4th round pick. Vaitai (Big V) 5th round (backup who took over for Peters and was a starter in the winning Super Bowl).

Other O line positions: Kelce 6th round, Seumalo was 3rd round. Brandon Brooks was a free agent signing, but originally drafted 3rd round.

Contracts along the O line might be part of this. It would be great to have a top prospect 1st or 2nd round pick. But Howie will be looking at how the contracts for all of them work over the years as well. Of course he'll have a rookie deal at first so that helps.

This was the way I always saw it. I met an Eagles fan friend (dedicated diehard guy who’s far from stupid) last month and he was shocked when I suggested that Green may not even make the 53. He had assumed he was pretty much a lock to be a backup guard. I thought he was a borderline guy that they felt was worth a four month look-see.

When the dust clears, the trade with the Texans simply boils down to a straight CJGJ for Metchie swap.

I felt the same way at the time of the trade. A chance for Stout to kick the tires on a highly drafted, but bust of an OL is never a bad thing. It didn't work with Chance Warmack. It didn't work with Kenyon Green. But, it worked in spades with Mekhi Becton. Definitely worth going down that road again in the future.

I think the Eagles need a separate social media account for football related stuff. Their entire social media team is comprised of Gen Z girls and the content 100% tracks with that. Getting to know the non-football side of players is great, but when it's the majority of the content, that's where I have an issue. You're a football team. Give us football content. I also know it's preseason and it's all about engagement. Clearly there are people who like this.

Then why post it here?

Frankly as long as they draft and develop someone stoutland believes can be a good OT it’s what matters. Trust his evaluation on whom he thinks will be good enough and make it. Green was a lottery ticket where you hoped stoutland might resurrect his career like becton

With Ricks gone, does this mean they will carry Jackson, Ringo, and Bennett?

Probably. I'd add McWilliams to that group. And obviously Mitchell and DeJean.

Over/under 1.5 more trades by Eagles before next Thursday night

Ricks will go on and become a player in this league for another team just like Rasul Douglas did.

BTW, Douglas is still available as FA. Bring him back, maybe?

Didn't see this mentioned in here but I may have missed it.

EJ Jenkins was waived.

Keilan Robinson was waived.

I don't have an issue moving on from him. I have an issue with letting half of our secondary leave, seeing that the players they had in mind are underwhelming and are doing very little to address it

I'm glad they brought in Bennett and think he's a gamer, but he's still a major question mark.

Still plenty of time, but would like something other than Brown and Mukuba. Brown sucks and Mukuba has a ton of promise, but he's an unknown

Would rather claim him than have traded for Howell

I think Mukuba if he stays healthy is going to be good. Issue is will he stay healthy. Reminds me of what the colts went through with bob sanders. Great when he played but always got hurt cause he wasn’t ideal size for the position.

As for CJGJ, imo he/his agent will deny it and so will the eagles but he was coming up on needing a new contract. Was likely gone at the end of 2025 as no dead money and cap savings in his contract. He was going to want more guaranteed money and a new deal. Blankenship also needs a new deal. I’m guessing the eagles were only willing to pay one of the two and made the decision with Blankenship. Have a feeling if Blankenship got paid and CJGJ saw it that he might become difficult to deal with and potentially become a distraction. Besides the fact i think they were trying to save money for some future contract with guys coming up for deals on defense soon. I’m actually somewhat surprised Blankenship extension hasn’t gotten done yet.

I seriously doubt that, 4.6 speed and lack of instincts, he was consistently arriving late all pre-season, can't run with NFL WRs deep and lacks the explosive burst of a good zone CB.

Oh wow lack of speed. Where did I hear that before? Oh yeah, Rasul Douglas.

Damn, almost forgot…

Thanks for LIX, Darian.

Excellent college tape, but the Tennessee system just isn't a pro-style offense and Hooker hasn't been able to process and get through his progressions fast enough at the NFL level. He's already 27, so someone would need to take a big risk on him.

When do you arrive in the UK?

Agree on the Blankenship extension. That should (?) be done soon?

Big news for the Steekers

So do we think we sign Covey to the PS and elevate him to be our Week 1 PR?
