What’s up, guys? I’ve been quiet on here lately. The truth is, I’ve been going through a rough stretch with my mental health. I wasn’t sure whether to say anything, but with June being Men’s Mental He

I’d pass. Unless the plan is to put Greg Lewis as the PR

He has over 1,400 punt returns for his career and other than one fluky season from Covey, Carter has been better.

Bryce Huff was supposed to be the 3rd guy in the rotation. He was largely replaced by BG, and if you add their snaps together that’s over 50%. The goal of the trade isn’t just to get a guy out there eating snaps, but better performance then Ojulari/Uche and maybe better than Nolan/Jalyx.

Close to half of BG's snaps were as a DT, they used him as an inside pass rusher on obvious passing downs.

You can upgrade the 3rd edge rusher, but we're talking 300-400 snaps with a few hundred split between Campbell/Baun and the 4th edge rusher.

With Trotter and eventually Dean, they can move one of the two ILBs outside at times.

It's not worth breaking the bank in terms of assets and cap room to add a starting quality edge rusher, I'd rather add a cheap younger player with upside who can come off the bench for 300 snaps.

For one thing, there's only a few capable of dropping into coverage like Smith/Hunt, so you're talking mostly one trick ponies. Which means they can't play in the base 3-4 set. That's one reason they wouldn't break the bank for Sweat or Reddick.

Jokes aside... one Manning already refused to play for the team that originally drafted him. Nothing says that this Manning would play for the Saints given their current state and their history with that family.

Do we predict any Eagles trades today? I feel like DE would be the spot. I don't see a quality CB2 popping up out of nowhere

Covey in 3 seasons has had 68 returns for 771 yards or 11.3 average. Carter, in his last 3 seasons has had 70 returns for 729 yards or 10.4 average. Covey is 28 and Carter is 32. It is reasonable to think Covey has more upside.

I'd take Covey back but he isn't a KR which Carter does and Covey also can't stay healthy recently

Honestly you sign a guy at 464, say he can't practise until he loses weight and according to reports he's lost 100lbs+ in 4 months (which is bordering on incredible), but then you cut him anyway? You were never giving that kid a job.

agent speak. Lot of fans who did t draft him but are going to hand him a spot now lol

Those are reasonable concerns. I think Covey’s injuries are a big reason he wasn’t re-signed. Shipley fills the role of kick returner.

If Clayton Thorson was able to find work after his release by the Eagles, McCord should have no problem.

Sure for practice squad if that's what we're talking. He might want a change of scenery from system or maybe Eagles don't want a QB on PS

I don't know why I'm posting this except for a general lol Giants

Hunt replaces Sweat. Smith is the same as last year. I think one of the signees from the offseason can replace Hunt’s snaps and production as all have done it. Basically Hall and Robinson replace BG and Moro’s snaps as Moro replaces Williams with a dose of more snaps for Davis. This fretting is absurd. This need for an all pro at back up positions is nuts.

If he clears, he'd likely return to our PS. Teams aren't done evaluating him yet. There may be a team that has room on their 53 that feels he'd be a fit after developing some more.

I am guessing they couldn't keep him because he has not been cleared to practice. I don't know whether he could be eligible for the NFi list and why that wasn't an option for him.

that option is gone fwiw

That's ok. We don't really deal in rationality here.

Huff was the starter last season. He was replaced by Smith. Uche and Ojulari are probably upgrades over Huff.

Huff started 6 games, Smith 10.

Huff 285 snaps, Smith 546.

The real "hole" was not the regular season defense, but the playoff defense, when Hunt took a step up and became the 3rd edge rusher, giving them better depth.

So they have 17 games to develop someone for that role in this year's playoffs!
