I was a proponent for trading for Metchie last year before the Dotson news broke, so hopefully. I’m just not sure he’ll get the chance here with everyone else ahead of him. I think they’ll just draft a #3 instead of paying him.

the thing is, he is so good I can see him becoming WR1 when they trade AJ. hmmm

Its a long term move not a 2025 move. And thats fine

Maybe it will be but I think it’s too soon to say it is. I can easily see Eagles not wanting to tender to him and he wanting to go somewhere else where he’ll be closer to the top of the pecking order.

Long term, maybe. For just this year I’d think CJGJ is more useful than WR4 or even WR5 since he doesn’t play much ST’s.

Or... for this year, he was too unstable to trust for 2 years in a row. All I know is that they;ve had him in the building twice now and twice now they've chosen to move immediately after the season.

So, either Howie has some serious hubris (a few years ago I'd have leaned this way), or CJGJ behind closed doors has proven not to be worth it.

I’m not going to die on the CJGJ hill. I think they were likely right to move on from him when they did, although Howie did decide to bring him back after having him in house before. I’m just not sure if they missed on Green or if he was a true throw in.

I think in a vacuum he’d be more useful in 2025 than Methcie will be though. But also understand these decisions are more complex than that.

So nothing more than CJGJ for Metchie. Not factoring in the injury it feels like Texans got the best of this, but we’ll see.

Factor in that the Eagles shed a headache.

Darius Cooper is a great story. FCS school, no combine invite, no senior bowl, just busted his ass and made it. That’s what it’s all about.

More fun… I missed this one during my football hiatus.

I think they had as much hope in Green as they did in Warmack and Becton. You throw the dice because the cost is low and the jackpot is high.

I agree, in a vacuum, CJGJ > Metchie. But these things are never in a vacuum.

I just looked through passing stats and kept checking stats of the 4th most productive WR.

For the most part a WR4 on most teams is getting 20-30 targets, 200-300 yards, and 1-2 TDs.

The only team that really seemed to blow that away was the Rams. DeMarcus Robinson was their 4th most productive WR, and they even had 2 more guys that beat those stats.

So yeah, a starting safety is going to be better than 200-300 yards and 1-2 TDs. Thats if Hurts even gives him that many targets.

Its unfortunately going to be another situation like when people kept talking like Dotson stinks since he was invisible here. He doesn't. Metchie may well end up a much better player than CJ. We may not have a chance to see that until Metchie is WR3 next season. And heck, we may not even see that until Metchie is on his next team.

Last year Johnny Wilson got 15 targets. 38 yards. Of course, he stinks.

So... lots of confounding variables.

This one will probably be able to be debated forever.

I predict no waiver pickups for Eagles tomorrow. Since they are last they'll not get any guy anyone else wants and for other guys they'll offer practice squad spots. It's possible that for teams that make claims the Eagles could trade for the player they have to cut to make room. Don't see it as likely but possible

Luke Lachey was cut. Wasn't he the blocking TE a few watned?

Covey in 3 seasons has had 68 returns for 771 yards or 11.3 average. Carter, in his last 3 seasons has had 70 returns for 729 yards or 10.4 average. Covey is 28 and Carter is 32. It is reasonable to think Covey has more upside.

Yeah, and as I said if you take away what looks like an outlier season in 2023 for Covey where he averaged 14.4 per return, he is at 9.3 and 7.7.

Carter over those three seasons is at 11.7, 9.7, and 9.3. Carter also returns kicks and doesn't have trouble staying healthy. Either way, he has been more productive two out of the last three years and as a one year stop gap I will take Carter.

In 1972 they had 17 players out of 48 that were in their 30's...they finished 11-3. They went on to lose to the undefeated Miami Dolphins in the Super Bowl.

Kenyon Green trade off

So the trade ultimately ends up being CJGJ for Metchie.

Given that 3rd TE is a vested veteran who won’t go through waivers, and can go directly to the Practice Squad, I may agree with you. But that is less a plus on Keegan than a practical reality of the vagaries of MLB rules.

Sorry, MLB rules do not ap[ly here.

Blocking TEs who can catch are very hard to come by, so beggars can’t be choosers.

Also, Granson as a vested veteran who won’t doesn’t have to go through waivers, so Practice Squad makes more sense for him right now.

Under the assumption he’s perfectly cool being a TE3 and has no chances elsewhere to be TE2, sure. Not sure either is the case.

They wouldn't really trade Parsons, would they?

So Ed Kelce came out and said Taylor and Travis were engaged for two weeks already and he found out when they face timed him while he was at an Eagles practice.

I don’t really care but the timing of their announcement is suspect and kind of gross.

Actually, I really like our WR corp, it was a little weak heading into training camp. Having Cooper play his way onto the team and the trade for Metchie really rounds it out. In case of injury to Brown or Smith (God forbid), I think they have enough to get through at least a couple of weeks. If someone like Covey is brought back on PS and can be elevated, I feel really good about this group

Normally I wouldn’t believe the rumors but Darian Kinnard was traded there. Not sure why we’re even bothering competing this year

Jackson Hawes (BUF)

I think Gunnar Helm (TEN) was a bargain as mid Day 3 pick iirc.

Weird move by them.
