No good numbers left for Epps. 18, 37, 38, or 39 unless he can get 22 back from Mac McWilliams.

Epps wore 37 with Philly before changing to 22.

What a weird offseason.

And while I understand that this kind of offseason was probably necessary, I’d be lying if I said it hasn’t left me feeling underwhelmed in our attempt to defend the title.

There’s certainly enough top end talent for this team to be great again, but it just feels like a missed opportunity to carry tremendous momentum in to this season.

If I had to make a season prediction right now, I’d lean toward a step backwards with 10 or 11 wins. A big move at EDGE would probably go a long way for my optimism. Still time….

Yea I expect the defense to be worse, not drastically so (probably still top 10) but I doubt they're as dominant as the latter half of last season. I think floor is 10 wins but ceiling is 12. Still a step back

He wore 37 his first year here, I think that's the move. Still no clarity if this is 53 or PS. I would assume PS?

This. I think the step back will be fairly drastic. Too many holes especially on defense.

I don’t know what the point of Green on the PS even is. Dude just sucks.

Meh. Fine with a reclamation project on the PS especially at OL. Not like there are important players out there

I'll take him over McCollum any day of the week.

That has to be weird for Epps though. Who besides Jordan Davis and Blankenship (both rookies in 2022) are still around from that defense when he was here? Ojomo I guess?

Coming back to an organization but all new defensive coaches and players.

Sure, we have to replace a few starters, but we have a lot of young guys that are getting better (that are already really good). Last season we totaled 41 sacks and 13 INTs in the regular season. I expect us to easily eclipse both those totals this year. Our offense returns mostly intact. If they can sustain drives a little better and stay on the field a little more, that would be a huge boost to the defense as well.

The last guy was so bad it was ridiculous

Patiently waiting for the quality DE to come via trade... We traded for Donte' Stallworth on 8/28 so there's time!

Isit Smith or Hunt you don’t like at OLB? No need for a starter and OO, Uche, and Ojulari did better than Huff last year. Hunt developed as the season went on. Would not be surprised to see Robinson take Graham’s DT snaps this year. So Hunt just needs to be what Sweat was last year. I think that is quite possible.

I am a highly trained skeptic but yall are missing the mark wildly with this take.

Winning is very difficult and repeating is far harder. Externalities like injuries can be huge. Schedule matters and this appears to be much harder.

We started slow last year and came on after the bye. People need to stop being short sighted. Walk down the hill, young bull

I'm surprised that no one has made the joke. Willie Lampkin? More like Willie Munchkin

All jokes aside, I can see why they made a waiver claim on him; the sort of player that Stout would like to work with.

Not even Ojomo, maybe just Blankenship and Nakobe.

I was absolutely going to make a joke about Lampkin sounding like dwarf's name but then I remembered I'm 5'10"

The defense wasn't going to be as good if they came back with every starter, regression to the mean.

CJCJ is already injured, how much does Slay have left in the tank, Williams probably had his peak season, same with Sweat.

Hunt and Smith are better fits to what Fangio wants to do, Campbell is a big upgrade over Burks/Dean, at least athletically.

CB2 is a question, but it would still be with Slay/Rodgers, an aging vet and a marginal starter.

The biggest problem is lack of depth, hopefully by the bye week (week 9), some young players will have taken a step up like last season

The offense is clearly better, quality depth at RB and WR, even Granson is an upgrade at TE3.

Again, depth is more of an issue at OL, with Steen starting, but Kendalll is an upgrade at backup C

Overall, this group is probably more talented, but odds are they'll also have more injuries than last season.

Always liked Epps, and he’ll be right placed here as a S3/4 and STer. Tone setting physicality, but not as reckless as Brown. Not understanding how anyone could be down on this.

Anyone interested in Mr. Zesty, Christian Wilkins

Yeah I would! I feel like this DL needs more and Wilkins is a really good player who could bring some really valuable experience.

and the guy before him is only famous for showing his red thong on the sideline during a game. Maybe he is still on the coaching staff?

Really goes to show the major makeover that has occurred to the defense and makes it all the more impressive how it ended up being one of the best defenses of this century last year.

From 2020 onward I kept talking about how Roseman needed to start rebuilding the defense amd there were no young cornerstone players but he has hit it out of the park with that rebuild over the last few years. Now the defense is just loaded with those young cornerstone players.

That doesn't even make sense anymore. Teams are allowed to IR guys before the 53 with a designation to return. Beyond that there's no courtesy, why not say teams shouldn't claim other teams players at all as a courtesy so they can keep them on the PS?

He is also statistically just as good as CJGJ, or better in basically every stat imaginable.

He worked his way to a starting caliber player in the NFL. He started for our super bowl team that lost to the Chiefs.

Supposedly just wasnt a fit on his team this year.

Its a very quality depth piece. We will be 100% ok if he has to start even a large number of games.
