Here are a couple of other nuggets.

Thadeus Stevens was an ardent abolitionist and a Black Republican. He lived in Gettysburg for years where he practiced law and he owned the Caledonia Furnace, an Ironworks factory there. Jubal Early's men burned it down during the Gettysburg campaign, purely for spite.

Also for spite, in 1864 Quartermaster General Montgomery Meigs seized the home and lands of Robert E. Lee, allegedly for failing to pay back taxes of less than $100, and turned it into a cemetery for Union soldiers. That's the Arlington National Cemetery today. The burial plots of black and white soldiers were segregated until Truman ended that practice in 1948.

Thaddeus Stevens house in Lancaster will open as the Thaddeus Stevens and Linda Smith Hamilton (his partner) Center for History and Democracy in 2026. While there, you can visit the home of our gay President, Buchanan. Some great history out here in the South Central.

Most folks limit their visit to Gettysburg but the Confederates didn’t just go there. There was the Battle in Hanover, the embarrassing surrender in York and the burning of the bridge to keep them from crossing the Susquehanna at Wrightsville. This area was more Democratic back then (Copperheads). Lots of Underground Railroad sites abound. There are some great local historians that present continually in the area.

I don't see how Pickett wins the Browns job against Flacco, Sanders, Gabriel., and if not, he'll be 4th string, because even if Flacco starts the other guys have more upside. He's not gonna make their team. Sometime before the season they'll trade him to the Saints for a late round pick swap.

Yeah I can see that as a real possibility

Fleece the Saints for McKee Howie

If Howie can get a 1st for Sam Bradford from the Vikings... what can he get for McKee? 🤔

For all those who are projecting Ojomo to get jumped on the depth chart, can you tell me what I'm missing because I haven't see this level of quickness and explosiveness from Robinson.

I really believe he was right there with Williams on a performance level. Hopefully Robinson can step into Ojomo's old role and produce as well. Behind them, I'm curious to see if Booker builds on his promising 1st season with us. Both Robinson and Booker should see a lot of preseason time.

We made the Pickett trade too soon! Now Browns are going to get like a 3rd for him.

Eisenhower Farm is a stone's throw from Gettysburg. He bought a farm adjacent to the battlefield... for obvious reasons.

The Saints are now on the clock for the 2026 draft

That is true... and Vermont was not one of the 13 colonies that split from England. Vermont declared independence in 1777, and didn't join the Union for over a decade. Before that it existed as an independent nation, one of THREE states that were once independent nations.... Vermont, Hawaii, and of course, Texas.

New York State and Massachusetts evicted a lot of Loyalists. One of my ancestors was a Missisquoi Bay loyalist refugee. Now here’s the funny thing. Due to a surveying error, some 20,000 acres that the Missisquoi loyalists thought were Indian lands (thus there to be taken) in Canada (45th parallel) turned out to be actually in Vermont. This resulted in my ancestor’s farm being in Vermont with his northern boundary being the border. He didn’t fight for the British but some of his neighbors did. The British were reluctant to support the refugees. The family wasn’t that loyal but their property having been the site of the Battle of Brooklyn probably resulted in their fate. (The family goes back to New Amsterdam).

He did in LIV and would've in LIX had Mahomes not crapped the bed so spectacularly.

He plays other top QBs all the time and almost always beats them.

They might be better than him at something but its not football.

A 3rd at best, I would think.

This looks INCREDIBLE. Instead, Nike and the NFL are doing stupid local artist inspired "Rivalry" uniforms.

And you can't take these stats in a vacuum. Reid's offense was pass happy. The Steelers? Here is how they ranked in past attempts those years:

2024: 29th

2023: 29th

2022: 17th

6

Those Eagles were 18th, 18th, and 25th in pass attempts.

That looks amazing. Someone send this directly to Jeffrey

Darken the helmets they look candy colored. Still haven't gotten those right. Or the jerseys. But I suspect Nike couldn't get the kelly green right, they still haven't gotten midnight green right, so the Eagles had to make helmets that closest match the jerseys. Not sure why Nike struggles so much to adapt green, they haven't with any other colors.

Don't be realistic, we are here to shoot for the stars!

I expect 2 first rounders at least!

Nike doesn't care about the fans and want the fans actually want. They want to dictate to the fans what they will get, and the sheeple will buy the crap, because its new.

And Free beignets for life for anyone visiting New Orleans with a 215 area code phone number.

Saints should sign Wentz. Stylistically, he and Shough are similar

I have seen a lot of the civil war battlefields. Walk them if you have the time.

I did get a chance to visit the site of the Battle of Fredericksburg. It's not a huge site but enough that I could understand what took place. I am by no means a student of the Civil War but as I stood by the sunken wall my takeaway was "what WAS Burnside thinking". It must have been a shooting gallery.

Despite orchestrating this massacre, Bobby Lee made the same choice on July 3.

And what did the you Union lines yell following Pickett’s charge…

I just want Kelly Green to be the official uniform again

Jeez this was a surprise. Congrats to Shough I guess. The job's his unless they trade for Pickett.

Saints were in the hole financially. So what's this do?

Lot’s of battlefields in the area. I really like the city.

Did you get in the woods at the Wilderness? I can see why there was so many deaths and injury from friendly fire in that battle. I do like that the NPS is focused on having the battlefields, where possible in the fauna of the time.

I did not. My time was limited.

Took a group of Scouts to Gettysburg and we climbed over the fence recreating Pickett’s charge. Really changes the perspective. Can’t believe anyone made it to the Union line. We also did both Chamberlain’s charge downhill and the Confederate charge uphill. Really emphasized the importance of the high ground.
