Well it would be ridiculous to have us open on the road after winning the Super Bowl so proabably in Dallas.

True, but it is Dallas. This feels scripted.

Agreed, and it puts the Preseason games approach into a different light. More than likely because of that opener the starters will get more preseason game snaps together to knock off some rust prior to Week One.

The NFL is tired of getting Eagles/Cowboys backup QB games. Maybe Dak won’t be hurt by Week 1 this year.

Pickle juice is on the menu.

Don't count on it. It's one game, and that's all its ever been. I expect the exact same approach in the preseason, and possibly even a gentler approach given the number of extra games they played last season. They seem very happy with using the first month of the season to round into shape and given their recent success, I don't anticipate any change in the process. Frankly, given the recent success, changing the process would be ludicrous. Don't fix what ain't broke.

I haven't heard it. The final call to me was the Dagger. That was the climax. Everything after that was denouement, credits and acknowledgements.

That's when the celebration hit its peak, imo. But there was still pver a quarter to play, thats just how truly doninant the performance was. The team even mailed in the final 15 minutes. It doesn't diminishing it for me in the least, though I still say the final score was 40-6, not 40-22. Talk about stat padding.

Yup....the same was true while at the stadium. The celebrations reached a peak with that throw. The fans were going crazy during the TV timeouts dancing in the aisles and rows....waving to all the Chiefs fans who were leaving early in the 4th quarter. When the game actually ended it was anti-climactic ....the fans were already tired from partying for an hour...

It’s rare that these opening games are division games. They usually backload those. A few thoughts:

1) I’ll take Dallas in September if it means we can get Tampa in November or December. I’m sick of playing them when it’s 100 degrees out,

2) The NFL loves Dallas in prime time.

3) The NFL and networks probably expect the Commies to be good so they will view the late season game(s) vs them as the Dallas game replacement.

I don't think there is is any chance that game is in Dallas. The spectacle of the Eagles playing first game at home against Dallas will be amazing opening season theater. SB Champs have hosted the season opening game since 2004 with only two exceptions

A Division game to start the Season with the Boys, smh. Well the Birds are 1-0 on Banner Day in the Super Bowl Era. Might as well make it 2-0. Hope like they have those Super Bowl Champions patches like last time:

The Cowboys are a better option than the Lions and Rams.

Although, their persistent lack of depth won't be apparent week 1.

We get a nice mini bye out of the gate.

It’s a Conference AND Division game so it has a bit more weight than Green Bay last year and way more than a Buffalo game (suggested earlier in the Blog), as an AFC opponent example.

That said, we look at the inserting of Coop and the OL asking to run the rock as the changes the Birds made that led to last year’s success without acknowledging the players also embraced Fangio’s influence towards harder practices through the season. I think we will see the latter more. I suspect thud practices rather than some great increase of starter play in the PS but I do think some players in the rotation or starters without a load of experience may see more snaps in PS.

I forgot all about those. Was that just for the opening game or did they get to wear them all season? NFL should let the defending champs wear them all season.

Backload for the Eagles at least. NFL has made NFL fans suffer for many years with Cowboys-Giants on week 1 SNF.

Not surprising though when you consider how we have only seen 3 Dak vs Hurts matchups over the years so the best chance to actually get one is to set it for the start lf the season.

Im here for the Cowboys week 1 so they can watch us raise another banner.

Great choice

Barkley won't sniff the field for a PS game, nor will Hurts, Brown, Smith, Johnson, etc. Same on the defense. The entrenched starters won't sniff the field. Guys that are battling for positions like Ringo, Jackson and the new CBs... Sydney Brown and Mukuba... will be on the field. But, DeJean, Mitchell, Blankenship? Nope. Carter, Smith, no. Hunt, Davis and Ojomo? Maybe. But I think they will be more interested in Ojulari and Uche among the 'vets' to get a sense for them, UNLESS one of them really stands out in TC practices.

But, they aren't going to change their approach to the SEASON because they are starting against a divisional opponent... just like they don't change their approach leading up to a divisional foe in the middle of the season. They don't put in extra hours before a divisional game than they do any other game in-season. They aren't going to change their routine because they are starting with Dallas. Any adjustments they make will be systemic in nature and not based on the context of whom they play against.

No they aren't for the full season. I think its just a special patch for the home opener. I don't even know if they continued doing it since then. It was cool though.

Ironically it's the 25th Anniversary of the last time the Eagles played the Cowboys in a Season Opener

9/3/2000

Birds - 41

Boys - 14

The NFL is begging us to whoop the ever-loving crap out of Dallas on national TV.

For the past year or so, the Eagles have been the talk of the NFL. We're too good at short yardage with the Tush Push...we destroyed the next dynasty in front of everyone in New Orleans...GM's aren't taking calls from Howie during the draft, but he walks out with a first-round steal anyway...Barkley and AJ Brown and Devonta and Jalen Carter and wait a minute, our rookies look like absolute stud players...

The storyline of this year is who is going to be the team that stops us. Best way to kick that off? Give the Eagles their most hated division opponent, on national TV, the night we drop the Super Bowl banner.

Pickle juice game!

Duce ran all over them that day, and they started the game with an onside kick. Good times!

I think the NFL would love nothing more than for their darlings the Cowboys to upset the Super Bowl champs on opening night. Really drum up that Cowboys hype to insane levels. Goodell and the league also very upset with the Eagles for the tush push and their open opposition to it being banned.

The Eagles opening drive in that game should just be Tush Push after Tush Push all the way down the field for a TD.
