Dallas has been a league darling for a long time. They have a ridiculously large following for a team that hasn't really been relevant for the better part of 3 decades.

Do they? Take out the Thanksgiving games and Detroit and Dallas really lose out. KC had more viewers even with those games. Dallas isn’t "America’s team” anymore.

Man after Kiper on Sanders during the draft and now this. I have to get some of what they are smoking at ESPN.

Dallas had the highest rated regular season game on Thanksgiving.

They had 6 of the top 20 highest rated regular season games last season despite being trash last season. They are unquestionably viewership monsters for the NFL.

And yet they continually get some special treatment, extra primetime games compared to their accomplishments, etc. The fans don't buy it the way they used to, but the media machine pushes them down our throat whenever the opportunity presents itself. And, if there's no reason to push them they make up a narrative about them to annoy us.

If I were a betting man, I'd take the Eagles and the over.

Honestly, opening with Dallas is disappointing to me. I'd rather have gone with the Lions or the Rams (the Bills game is in Buffalo, and the Chiefs are on the road as well). The defending champs have done very well in the Thursday openers (15-5), so I'd rather have drawn a tougher opponent where we have an advantage. Dallas is a team we should handle -- honestly, how many Dallas players would start on the Eagles? On offense...maybe Tyler Smith over Landon, but that's a draw in my mind. I'd take AJ over Ceedee and Smitty over Pickens. On defense, I'll say Micah over Nolan for sure, and I'll say Fowler over Hunt. Donovan Wilson over Mukuba as well for now. So 3 on defense, and maybe 1 on offense.

I am of 2 minds about it. On the one hand, you're right the team will be freshest and healthiest at the start of the season and playing at home. OTOH, this team started 2-2 last season and seemed to take the first 4 games as a sort of pre-season. So, an easier opponent may be good.

The power of a dominant championship rushing offense.

Never bet against Big Game James. He is truly the GOAT.

The NFL is incorrigible. They make a big deal about the schedule release... only to release it through leaks days earlier. nonono

Playing on Saturday the weekend before Christmas means the Eagles are likely playing on Christmas Day the following Thursday.

The league can go to hell with this whole thing. Just release the damn schedule

Great… I’m guessing the NFL also puts them on Christmas day then as well.

Based on this we can expect a Christmas Day slate of Eagles @ Packers and Bears @ Commanders.

It's really the Networks that are putting this out there but yea, pretty dumb. Just put it all out there.

They would at least get an extra days rest for a Thursday game that others teams won't.

Nope. Because the teams that are playing on Christmas are likely playing on that Saturday. It's going to be Eagles @ Packers and Bears @ Redskins on Christmas Day. That's how it worked out this past season.

Could be Bears at Eagles and Commanders at Packers. I don't think they would make the Eagles travel that much on a short week.

They are all in kahoots on these leaks. So pathetic. For that reason I am ignoring all this stuff. I might not even look at the schedule until July just for spite.

Christmas is on a Thursday this year. So they get an extra days rest playing Saturday then Thursday instead of a usual Sunday then Thursday.

Where is the juice in that though? Bears @ Redskins is a rematch of that crazy finish from last year and Eagles @ Packers is not only a rematch of last year's playoff game but also the bad blood of Packers pushing to ban the Tush Push. It's travel but not too much travel when DC is just a drive from Philly.

Yeah but you said that other teams won't which I took as the other teams they face. But in all likelihood the 4 teams playing on that Saturday will be the 4 teams playing on Christmas.

I'm sure the NFL will have the Eagles on Monday night the previous week.
