Reading is fundamental. Look at the graph again. NBC games are Sunday night national games, but most of the Fox and CBS games are regional contests that are only broadcast to a portion of the nation. In capturing audience those games have "competition” from other regional games on their own network, as well as the game being broadcast on the other network.

Um national game of the week, Matt. Did you research how many of the CBS and Fox games were that?

Can we have a post and pin it with where to stream from?

From Kempski's pre-season All-NFCE offense...

Quarterback: Jayden Daniels, Commanders

This will be an unpopular selection among some Eagles fans, given that Jalen Hurts was, you know, the Super Bowl MVP. But in my opinion — don't know if this is a "hot take" or not — Daniels dragging the Commanders' far inferior roster to the NFC Championship Game was more impressive than Hurts winning it all.

Hurts played behind the best offensive line in the NFL, he threw to an elite WR duo, and he had the best player in the league standing next to him in the backfield at running back. And when things didn't click offensively, the Eagles had the best defense in the NFL to bail them out. Hurts absolutely played well, too, but it's undeniable that he had the best quarterback situation in the NFL, by far.

The best argument for Hurts in my opinion is that he has shown up in big games. He's 6-3 in the playoffs, 2-0 in NFC Championship Games, and 1-1 in Super Bowls, with a strong argument that he was the best player on the field in the one he lost. He is very clearly a top 10 quarterback.

But Daniels might be special. He had one good receiver, a mediocre O-line, he led his team in rushing, and his team had a below average defense. He was forced to put his team on his back week after week and make a bunch of plays to win games.

A lot of my decisions in this exercise came down to, "Who would I rather have?" And in this case, it's Daniels. 🤷‍♂️

On a side note, Dak Prescott shouldn't get any real consideration here this year. The Cowboys were 3-5 in Prescott's starts. He threw 11 TDs vs. 8 INTs before being lost for the season with a hamstring injury. That said, I do think he's a candidate for a bounce-back season.

Eh that might be a no no for advertising purposes but that's up to the bosses around here

I'm a Daniels fan but the NFL will adjust to him this season, like it does to all sophomore QBs.

There was an adjustment Lamar Jackson needed to make, just like there was an adjustment Hurts needed to make, and CJ Stroud needs to make. I expect a slight drop off in Daniels' performance this season; probably not quite as pronounced as Stroud's but a slight one.

Doubtful...Lions, Rams, at Cowboys, at Chiefs, and at Bills.

Likely...both Giant games and the Raiders here.

These are good matchups, but not to same level of the premium ones...at Bucs, at Vikings.

At least one of the Broncos and Commanders home games is very possible.

We could get six.

Seems like one of the Giants games every year is a prime time game for some reason. They had only 3 the year after losing the Super Bowl and with the way things are trending I don’t see 6.

Lamar Jackson won MVP in his second season. Jalen Hurts nearly won MVP in his second season as starter.

Yea that’s just asking for trouble. I’m surprised nothing has been issue as is since this place left the official website. NFL does not like people profiting or taking away from their money.

Doubt Brincos and Raiders would be 1 PM. Typically if a weat coast team travels east they keep those at 4 PM.

Commanders game is too much of a draw to stick at 1 PM.

Likely looking at one or both of the Giants games at 1 PM and that's it. Maybe Bucs but doubtful.

Dang. Those of us in other countries are very lucky to have the NFL Game Pass.

Maybe you guys could try using it with a VPN. Not sure if it'd work.

3 was the number in my head. I'd be stunned if they have more than 3 1 PM Sunday games.

And the 3 back for 2023 was before the Friday games started to become a thing as well, or Christmas Day games, unless it fell on a weekend. There are just so many more options now than there were for non-Sunday games.

Generally, even with the National Game of the Week, there's a portion (or two) of the country that doesn't get that game, because they get the regional coverage for their local game. So, while the Eagles might be the National Game of the Week against the Lions at 4PM on Fox, the Seahawks matchup against the Rams that week would be broadcast locally to those cities, not the National game... so there's still a splitting of the coverage.

Only SNF, MNF, TNF and the special event games... Thanksgiving, Opening Friday, International games, etc. have no competition for market share ratings.

I think Daniels is by far and away the most overhyped player in the NFL going into the 2025 season. Guy was 11th in QB rating last year (Hurts was 5th) and 14h in YPA (Hurts was 4th). He was a slightly above average QB last year, which is impressive as hell for a rookie, but let's not act like he had the greatest rookie year ever. CJ Stroud had a better year in 2023 -- 100.8 rating (5th in the league) and 8.2 YPA (3rd), and then came back down to earth.

People putting him in the top 5, calling him the best QB in the NFC, it's ridiculous.

This may be the schedule

What other countries get with game pass, we get plus with NFL+, except that it isn’t live. (Plus we get coaches film, All22).

Sure, but I am more likely to watch the National Game of the week if those night games don’t involve the Birds and I think a lot of fans are like that. But in fairness, how many of the games cited by @mattwill were primetime games? Slowly but surely, Roger Goodell is becoming the Ethan Zuckerman of sports.

There's not nearly enough football-themed poetry in here. That paper warrants a solid A.
